Futurama is a unique entry in the science-fiction genre for a lot of reasons. Its flexibility in terms of tone and content has always allowed it to be impressive and silly at the same time. The universe of Futurama has dangerous elements hiding behind every cartoonish corner. Matt Groening's twice-revived Hulu series has a staggering kill count over the years, even while telling surprisingly cute or heartfelt stories. The mayhem can even sometimes come at the hands of some of the show's softer protagonists.
