- She was a student at Stockholm's Royal Dramatic Training Academy when she and classmate Greta Gustafsson (later Garbo) were selected to audition for noted director Mauritz Stiller to appear in "Gosta Berling's Saga" (1924) in which they both appeared. Though Stiller and Garbo left for Hollywood soon after, Martenson chose to stay in Sweden.
