After playing a key role in the original Netflix Daredevil series - as well as Jessica Jones and The Punisher - fans were surprised not to see Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney return for Daredevil: Born Again.
Mahoney was determined to remain honest in a department full of dirty cops, and even though he was against Daredevil's (Charlie Cox) vigilante methods, he aided Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson in their cases and ultimately came to see the Man Without Fear as a force for good.
Mahoney was instrumental in putting Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) behind bars towards the end of season 3.
Now, fitness coach Naqam Washington has pretty much confirmed that actor Royce Johnson will reprise the role for season 2 of Born Again, which recently wrapped production in New York.

Earlier this year, we finally got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress has now teased her return as the hard-drinking Pi during an interview with Screen Rant.
As you might expect, Ritter didn't get into plot details, simply noting that she is "thrilled to be back in Jessica's boots. There's more story for her and it's really exciting."
"Oh, it's gritty," she added. "It feels big too. The crew's amazing. I've had an amazing experience. I can't say anything, but I love being with Charlie [Cox]. It was as if no time had passed. Like, my first day, I was looking around like we're back. But juxtaposing it with Mia [her Dexter Resurrection character] and Jessica has been really creatively fulfilling for me as an artist and just what a big, big banner year I'm having. I...

Dennis Quaid wasn’t kidding when he called The Day After Tomorrow “the mother of all disaster movies.” Two decades after it first melted box office records, Roland Emmerich’s climate-catastrophe epic is taking the U.S. by storm once again — this time on Hulu. Originally released in 2004, The Day After Tomorrow starred Quaid as climatologist Jack Hall and a young Jake Gyllenhaal as his son Sam. The story? An extreme take on climate change, where melting polar ice triggers a new Ice Age that sweeps the planet with superstorms, flash freezes, and tidal waves the size of Manhattan skyscrapers. Emmerich and screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff didn’t hold back — and neither did audiences.
With a budget of $125 million, the film went on to earn an earth-shaking $555 million globally, including $186 million from U.S. theaters and a further $369 million overseas. The Memorial Day weekend opening alone hauled in $68.7 million, nearly 37% of its final domestic tally.

The Day After Tomorrow, the disaster movie of 2004 starring Jake Gyllenhaal, has landed a new streaming home. Starting on July 1, Hulu subscribers can stream the thriller directed by Roland Emmerich, and considered by many to be one of the best movies by the director of both Independence Day movies, Anonymous and White House Down.
The film is not a direct adaptation, but inspired by Art Bell and Whitley Strieber's book The Coming Global Superstorm, a fictional book that explores the possibility of climate change producing a sudden worldwide apocalypse. It was adapted by Emmerich himself, who co-wrote the film with Jeffrey Nachmanoff. The Day After Tomorrow stars Gyllenhaal alongside Dennis Quaid, Sela Ward, Emmy Rossum, Ian Holm, Austin Nichols, and Dash Mihok.

We already knew that Daredevil: Born Again was shaping up to be a very different show prior to the much-discussed creative overhaul, but it sounds like original showrunners Matt Corman and Chris Ord (and likely some studio higher-ups) were more determined to distance the Disney+ revival from its Netflix predecessor than we realized.
While speaking to Awards Radar, editor Stephanie Filo revealed that she and others who worked on the show were told not to watch Netflix's Daredevil.
“The original take on it was to lean away from the Netflix Daredevil show. They actually told us not to watch the Netflix show, because they didn’t want to affect how we were editing it. Once we restructured everything and figured out we would do a different take on it, we dove back into the Netflix side of things. We were able to use temp music from that Netflix series, and...

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is still filming in New York, and both Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) recently confirmed that they are currently in the Big Apple via respective social media posts.
Now, Colter has shared a more direct hint that he may be set to return as Luke Cage for the second season of the Disney+ revival series by posting an image of his character to his Instagram Stories.
We know that Krysten Ritter will be back as Jessica Jones, so it only makes sense that the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) would enlist more of his fellow Defenders for back-up.
After Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) declared martial law with the help of his anti-vigilante task force in the season 1 finale, Matt Murdock decided to fight back by assembling a team of his own. The line-up was lacking a bit of muscle,...

Though the show certainly had its share of detractors, Daredevil: Born Again was a big hit with critics (87% on Rotten Tomatoes), and seemed to be embraced by the majority of fans as one of Marvel's better Disney+ efforts.
We had also been led to believe that the Man Without Fear's revival series did pretty good numbers for the streaming service, but this doesn't seem to be the case.
Daredevil: Born Again has become the first live-action Marvel Studios series not to make Nielsen's Top 10 Original Streaming Shows List. The only other Marvel streaming titles to fail to find their way onto the list were animated.
Born Again is also the second live-action MCU Disney+ show not to make Nielsen's overall top 10 after Secret Invasion.
There are likely a number of factors involved with the show failing to find a bigger audience, but Born Again was unusually violent for a Marvel series,...

Over two decades on from its original release, the big-budget disaster flick The Day After Tomorrow is proving as popular as ever. Starring the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal and Dennis Quaid and based on a screenplay by Jeffrey Nachmanoff and directorRoland Emmerich, the hugely popular survival epic stormed the 2004 box office upon its original release, taking a reported $125 million budget and turning it into $555 million in global revenue, split between $186 million in domestic earnings and a further $369 million from overseas markets.
This total included an impressive Memorial Day weekend opening, with $68.7 million in its first three days, accounting for 36.8% of its total gross. The film became the eighth highest-grossing movie in US theaters in 2004, rivalling the likes of The Bourne Supremacy, The Polar Express, and National Treasure for a place in the top 10. We recently got confirmation that Krysten Ritter would be making her return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress was spotted filming scenes alongside co-star Charlie Cox in these latest set photos.
Miss Jones hasn't updated her wardrobe since we last saw her on Netflix, and is still rocking the signature blue jeans and leather jacket combo. Cox, meanwhile, is sporting the Man Without Fear's back costume with the red "Dd" chest logo.
The Defenders had its share of issues, but the often contentious relationship between Jones and Daredevil was a definite highlight, so it should be interesting to revisit their dynamic in the MCU.

By now, we're sure the majority of you have seen Daredevil: Born Again, but just in case, here's your spoiler warning.
Matt Murdock's long-time friend and partner Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) was assassinated by Bullseye in the pilot episode, prompting Murdock to hang up the horns... until he's compelled to suit-up again to battle crime and corruption in New York City later on in the season.
The decision to kill off such a beloved character did not sit well with some fans, but Cox believes it was necessary to "shake things up" a bit and give the story some genuine stakes.
"The awful thing that happens in Born Again, that was the gift for me as the actor, was the death of Foggy. I mean, tragic in terms of the show loses an element that, I think, was the heartbeat of Daredevil," said Cox during a new interview with SAG-AFTRA.

After leaving his ultra-violent fingerprints on Daredevil: Born Again, Frank Castle is set to return for his own Disney+ Punisher Special Presentation.
Star Jon Bernthal will co-write the script with his We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is also on board to helm the Special.
"It's like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story," Marvel's head of streaming Bard Winderbaum said after the project was made official. "It's so exciting."
Winderbaum went on to reveal that the idea for a Punisher standalone story manifested during production on Born Again, which saw Matt Murdock team-up with his old frenemy to take down members of Wilson Fisk's anti-vigilante task force.
"Bernthal is a generational actor," Winderbaum added. "He's incredible what he brings to all the roles he plays, but particularly Frank Castle.

Though it does seem to be a small minority of fans, Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again has received backlash for propagating a "woke agenda." The main reasons for this seem to stem from the perception that the show is anti-conservative and anti-cop, while also sidelining established characters such as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page in favor of more diverse supporting players.
One fan is under the impression that season 2 of the Disney+ revival series is going to double-down on the wokeness, and tagged star Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) in an X post.
The actor was having none of it!
This is absolute nonsense," D'Onofrio replied. "We are not doubling down on any such thing. This statement is just not so. If there was any truth to it, i think I would know. We are telling Daredevil stories. We are not pushing any agenda other than making a Kick ass superhero drama.

Two years before Al Gore’s Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth elevated the conversation around global warming, Roland Emmerich unleashed The Day After Tomorrow, the 2004 blockbuster that brought the dangers of climate change to the popcorn crowd.
Emmerich was already known as the master of disaster, blowing up the White House in Independence Day (1996) and leveling part of New York in Godzilla (1998). While directing 2000’s The Patriot in hurricane-stricken North Carolina, the German filmmaker became intrigued with extreme weather. At his hotel’s bookstore, he stumbled upon the 1999 novel The Coming of the Global Superstorm, co-written by the conspiracy-enthused radio icon Art Bell and author Whitley Strieber.
The novel inspired Emmerich to dig into the idea that climate change could spark a new ice age over a period of days — not years or centuries. He enlisted Patriot producer Mark Gordon, who paired him with screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff for a package that...

With all nine episodes of Daredevil: Born Again now streaming on Disney+, Marvel Television has released what we assume will be the final character poster for the series, with Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), getting the spotlight.
Castle didn't have a huge role in Born Again, but he certainly made an impact, teaming up with the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) in the finale to unleash hell on Kingpin's (Vincent D'Onofrio) Avtf.
Towards the end of "Straight to Hell," the Punisher decides to take on Mayor Wilson Fisk's forces alone. After brutally dispatching a number of corrupt cops, Castle is overwhelmed (whether he always planned to be captured is up for debate) and locked in one of Kingpin's holding cells.
In the post-credits sequence, Frank tricks his guard into approaching the cage before pulling his arm through the bars and snapping it. This will presumably facilitate Frank getting out of his cell,...

The season finale of Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming, and the episode featured a post-credits scene that many fans have assumed will lead directly into the planned Punisher Special Presentation that was recently announced.

This will presumably facilitate Frank getting out of his cell, but is escape his only concern? Does the Punisher intend to put an end to Fisk once and for all?

After the explosive finale to Season 1, the team behind Daredevil: Born Againhas talked about the relative ease of revamping. Showrunner Dario Scardapane was brought in to bring the show closer to the tone of Netflix’s Daredevil, and the spin-off series within the respected chronology, after the lead writers were removed.
The original writers planned for Born Again to exist separately from the Netflix shows’ continuity. The replacement team, including director Jeffrey Nachmanoff, noted that the end result “didn’t feel like the hodgepodge that the process was,” and ultimately, both they and Marvel were satisfied with the final product. In case Hawkeye and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law hadn't made it obvious, Daredevil: Born Again was meant to be a fresh start for the Man Without Fear. Yes, some actors were set to remain the same, but for all intents and purposes, it was a reboot.
That led to Marvel Studios casting a new Vanessa Fisk in Sandrine Holt (House of Cards). With Foggy Nelson set to die off-screen, it seems only Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal were set to reprise their respective roles as Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, and Frank Castle.
However, the creative overhaul led to Ayelet Zurer reprising her role as the Kingpin's wife. Holt shot her scenes as Vanessa, though we'll never get to see what the Mr. Robot star did with the character.

The first season of Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again wrapped up this week with an action-packed finale that set the stage for the currently-shooting second season.
Spoilers for "Straight to Hell" follow.
After realizing that he'll need "an army" to take on Mayor Wilson Fisk and his forces, Matt Murdock assembles what few allies he has at Josie's Bar to plan their next movie. It's fair to say that The Man Without Fear's team is still a little outgunned, but we have heard rumors about some old friends joining the effort to defend the city in season 2.
While speaking to EW, showrunner Dario Scardapane was asked about the chances of seeing Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and/or Danny Rand in the second season. He didn't confirm anything outright, but did drop some hints that Daredevil will be joined by some other "superheroes" in his battle against the Kingpin.

Daredevil: Born Again Directors Reveal Original Pre-Overhaul Opening And Tease Foggy Nelson's Future
While Daredevil: Born Again's creative overhaul continues to make headlines, we still know relatively little about what the series originally looked like (though there have been plenty of rumours claiming to shed light on the matter).
We've heard that Foggy Nelson was going to die off-screen, with no Bullseye and zero connections to the original Netflix series. Instead, the lawyer was going to die at the hands of one of the corrupt cops who worship The Punisher.
The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with Daredevil: Born Again's roster of directors, and Aaron Moorhead revealed how the series started before they came in and reshot the pilot.

The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with Daredevil: Born Again's roster of directors, and Aaron Moorhead revealed how the series started before they came in and reshot the pilot.

The first season of Daredevil: Born Again is over, and the fans are satisfied. This was a successful revival of the popular series, and while much darker than anything we’ve seen in the MCU up to this point, the series was welcomed by both new and old fans.
The series managed to retain the feeling of the original series, but it also brought something new to the table, which is why everyone was so welcoming to it. Now that it is over, the people behind the project are revealing more information ahead of the second season.
In a recent interview, Justin Benson, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and Aaron Moorhead discussed the season behind them, and they revealed an interesting fact about the now-famous Bb Report segment from the series that we found very interesting!

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Directors on Their Successful Series Revamp and Season 2’s “Resistance Tale”
[This story contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again season one.]
Whenever a production has to use the phrase “creative overhaul,” one would assume that the battle lines have been drawn between incoming and existing creative teams. But that scenario couldn’t be further from the truth in the case of the Daredevil: Born Again directors: Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff and David Boyd. Their unified aim was to simply create a satisfying follow-up for the fans of the preceding Daredevil series, including lead actors Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio.
The original Drew Goddard-created Daredevil series streamed on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, and on the heels of Marvel announcing Daredevil: Born Again in 2022, the previous three seasons starring Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin transitioned to Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again then entered into production in early 2023 before shutting down mid-year due to the WGA and SAG strikes. During the hiatus,...

Elodie Yung played Elektra Natchios in season 2 of Netflix's defunct Daredevil series, before returning for The Defenders. Though her take on the lethal assassin was well-received by fans, many felt her arc was mishandled, and that Yung wasn't really given a proper chance to shine in the role.
Several main cast members from the Netflix show returned for Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again, but Yung was not among them. Would she have any interest in reprising the role for the currently shooting second season?
“Oh absolutely," Yung tells Poc Culture. "That was one of the greatest characters that I had to play. We’ll see. If they call me, I will respond for sure. It’s just so much fun.”
There have been rumors that the G.I. Joe: Retaliation actress might be set to suit up as Elektra for season 2, but with production underway for quite a while, we'd...

The season finale of Daredevil: Born Again, "Straight To Hell," is now streaming on Disney+, and Marvel Television's revival series certainly wrapped-up in memorable fashion.
Among other things, the episode featured a long-awaited team-up between the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) and the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), the return of Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) committing by far the most brutally violent murder in MCU history.
The final scene also laid the groundwork for an all-out war between Kingpin's Avta and Daredevil's allies (rumor has it he'll be joined by some old friends to help him defend the city in season 2).
The show has been met with a positive reception overall, but certain episodes were definitely better-received than others, and some fans seem to feel that Born Again never quite managed to reach the same heights as the original Netflix series.

With the season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again now streaming on Disney+, showrunner Dario Scardapane has taken to social media to thank his cast and crew, while also revealing when we'll see the Devil of Hell's Kitchen and the Kingpin back on our screens.
We had already been assured that season 2 would premiere at some point in 2026, but Scardapane has now announced that the show will return to Disney+ next March.
"It’s all led up to this… Such a mix of emotions as we close out S1. So grateful for the cast, crew and studio for their confidence and indulgence. Biggest of thanks to Sana, Brad, Kevin, Lou, Aaron, Justin, Charlie, Vincent, Deb, Jon and the whole mad circus. And yeah, Season 2 March 2026."

With Daredevil: Born Again season one in the books, Marvel Studios has released seven awesome new stills from last night's finale, offering a fresh look at some of the episode's key moments.
In the photos, we get multiple shots of The Punisher's (Jon Bernthal) return, who has arrived just in the nick of time to help Daredevil (Charlie Cox) get out of a bind. It doesn't spoil the episode's other big return, so we won't either.
Then, we also see Wilson (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) share a dinner, and the Kingpin barking out orders to a room full of stunned staff, including Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini), Sheila Rivera (Zabryna Guevera), Arty Froushan (Buck Cashman) and Commisioner Phil Gallo (Michael Gaston).
Actress Margarita Levieva (Heather Glenn) also shared a batch of behind-the-scenes stills from the final two episodes, giving us a considerably more light-hearted view of the season's darkest hours yet.

Do we now have confirmation that Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again? Not exactly, but the actress has dropped what might be her biggest hint yet that she is set to reprise her roles as the Man Without Fear's fellow Defender.
Though we had been led to believe that Netflix's Marvel shows were no longer considered canon when Marvel Studios announced brand-new MCU content would be developed for the Disney+ streaming service, things clearly changed after Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) later returned for a memorable role in the Echo series, and Daredevil: Born Again has essentially served as a fourth season of Netflix's original Dd show.
It also sounds as if there could be plans in place for the rest of the Defenders.

Though Daredevil: Born Again does effectively serve as a fourth season of the now defunct Netflix show, it sounds like the story would have been taken in a very different direction had the original series been allowed to continue.
Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix before being prematurely cancelled in 2018 when Marvel Studios/Disney regained full rights to the character prior to the launch of the Disney+ streaming service.

Though the costume Charlie Cox's Man Without Fear wore in the original Netflix Daredevil series was fairly comic-accurate in many ways, a major sticking point for a lot of fans was the lack of a "Dd" chest emblem.
Those same fans were disappointed to see that the logo hadn't been added to the suit in Daredevil: Born Again, but it looks like Marvel intends to rectify this for the second season of the Disney+ show.

The nine episode first season of the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again just made its premiere on Disney+ earlier this month (you can read our review Here), and we’re already closing in on the end of the run, as the fifth and sixth episodes dropped onto the streaming service yesterday. Although the initial plan was to rework some elements and make Daredevil: Born Again stand separate from the Netflix Daredevil series (despite sharing some cast members), the show underwent a creative overhaul when the writers and actors strikes shut down production in 2023. Now, this series is a direct follow-up to the Netflix series, picking up five years later… and it has been revealed that episode 5 was the only one that was “completely untouched” by the creative overhaul!

Depending who you ask, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is always in the right place at the right time, or the wrong place at the wrong time. “Daredevil: Born Again” sends our allegedly retired hero into the thick of a bank robbery — one that he had just narrowly escaped before diving back into the fray.
Because as much as he wants to protect himself, his loved ones, and the city he calls home, those aren’t the real reasons why he can never fully give up Daredevil; the fact is, he can’t stay away.
Episode 5, “With Interest,” directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff and written by Grainne Godfree, is bookended by scenes of Matt and Yusuf Khan (Mohan Kapur), a nice little crossover with Daredevil’s neighbor across the river, “Ms. Marvel.” Matt is looking for a loan for his firm, and while Yusuf can’t approve it, he can’t help but like the guy.

Daredevil: Born Again's fifth episode, "With Interest," was directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff and has proven to be surprisingly divisive since hitting Disney+ yesterday evening.
The filmmaker also helmed last week's "Sic Semper Systema," but this bottle episode - a largely standalone instalment of a series typically filmed in a single location, often with a minimal cast - seems to either be drawing rave reviews or harsh criticisms.
Talking to Phase Hero, Nachmanoff reflected on shooting Matt Murdock's team-up with Ms. Marvel's father, Yusuf Khan, and confirmed that "With Interest" is the only episode of Daredevil: Born Again not to have been tinkered with during the creative overhaul.
"This episode is the only completely untouched episode, I believe, from the original version of the show before we went back and reworked it," he explained. "You can feel that. It has that bottle episode feel because it's just Matt for the most part.

Marvel Television dropped two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again tonight, and the first, "With Interest," takes a break from the main storyline to focus on Matt Murdock getting caught in the middle of a bank heist on St. Patrick's Day.
Spoilers follow.
If you were hoping to jump right into the action after "Sic Semper Systema" saw the return of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) before concluding with a hint that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) might be preparing to don his Daredevil costume again to track down the serial killer known as Muse, you're going to have to wait a little longer.
Episode 5 begins with Matt paying a visit to a New York City bank to inquire about a loan application for his law firm. As he sits down to chat with the assistant manager, we see that it's none other than Kamala Khan's father, Yusef (Mohan Kapur). The two hit it off,...

Daredevil: Born Again showrunner and executive producer Dario Scardapane has painted a clearer picture of what his plans are for Season 2 of the Disney+ MCU show, especially when it comes to one character in particular. It seems that Muse, who is arguably one of Marvel's most disturbing villains, will be painting the town red (quite literally), as the murderous "artist" has a significant role to play in Season 1 "and beyond." And by the sounds of it, the Muse arc will leave a mark on the most famous resident of Hell's Kitchen.
Scardapane told TVLine in a recent interview that Muse acts as "a stressor" in the battle that is currently brewing between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio). He also indicated that the unfolding situation between the trio will not be resolved in the first season as the actions of the masked muralist will cause "a...

Daredevil: Born Again EPs Tease Muse Arc and Its ‘Shocking Consequences’ — for Season 1 ‘and Beyond’
The Artist Known as Muse is here to wreak some bloody havoc.
Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again has at least twice given viewers a glimpse of this masked character — first at the close of Episode 1, when we saw him completing a mural of Kingpin-turned-mayor Wilson Fisk. More recently, Episode 4 ended with Muse lugging a man into a gruesome lair of sorts, to extract an unhealthy amount of blood from a femoral artery.

MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again is stunning the fans with new twists and turns with each episode. From Matt Murdock’s fresh outlook on life to having to deal with devastating tragedy after tragedy, the show has been quite an emotional roller coaster from the start.

While fans have been happy about Charlie Cox and the rest of the crew being a part of this reboot show after Netflix canceled the original Daredevil show after 3 Seasons, their inclusion sure comes at a cost. Unfortunately, that cost is becoming heavier to write off as the story progresses further.
However, even with all the deaths and tragedies the MCU show has been portraying from the start, nothing has made me angrier than the recent episode. Or, rather, learning a tidbit about Episode 4, has sent me down a spiral of despair.
