Zofia Nalkowska(1885-1954)

Was born in Warsaw from a family of intellectuals dedicated to the
socialist cause. Was to become one of Poland's most distinguished
writers of prose, characterized by realism and psychological depth. Her
first success was Romans Teresy Hennert (The love of Therese Hennert,
1923). She is best known for Granica (The Frontier, 1935); Wiezly zycia
(Bonds of Life, 1948) and Medaliony (Medallions, 1947). She died in
Warsaw in 1954.
