Tis the season to be filthy rich, if Brewster can only spend all that money. The long-in-production follow-up to the late Richard Pryor and John Candys vastly underrated comedy classic Brewsters Millions has officially wrapped production, and the sequel will drop just prior to the holidays on December 5. Brewsters Millions: Christmas is not only a BET+ Original, but its truly a family affair, starring both Pryors real-life daughter, Rain, and his son, Richard Pryor Jr.

While Pryor, Jr. admits his isnt a large part in the new Brewsters Millions story, the iconic comedians son will be portraying the same character (Monty Brewster) his father did in the 1985 movie, which came out in theaters nearly 40 years ago. Pryor Jr. said (via Deadline):

The character of Montgomery Brewster was famously portrayed by Richard Pryor in the 1985 comedy Brewster’s Millions, based on the George Barr McCutcheon novel of the same name. Pryor’s son Richard Pryor Jr. will take on the role in the BET+ project with Rain Pryor starring as Opal.

Now, Hallmark is offering something completely different as Reuben and La Salle reconnect for A Second Chance at Love, airing on Saturday, March 26 on Hallmark Channel.

Actor-filmmaker Robert Townsend has signed on to direct the reboot of Brewster's Millions, news which comes 30 years after the 1985 comedy Brewster's Millions was released, starring Richard Pryor and John Candy. The story is based on George Barr McCutcheon's 1902 novel, which was turned into a stage play in 1906 along with 10 different movie adaptations, including a lost 1914 Cecil B. DeMille version towards the beginning of his career.

Michael William Schmidt is writing the screenplay, which centers on Montgomery Brewster, a man who inherits $1 billion, under one condition: he must spend $100 million in one week, or he loses everything. The financial stakes in the reboot have been increased considerably, since the 1985 version, directed by Walter Hill, centered on Richard Pryor's Brewster tasked with spending $30 million in 30 days, in order to receive his full inheritance of $300 million. No further story details were released at this time.

Wesley Snipes is back in action and is set to star in a Chuck Russell-directed remake of the 1961 Johnny Cash-led crime-drama "Five Minutes to Live" for Hannibal Pictures.

The original starred Cash and Vic Tayback as two thieves who conspire to rob a bank and hold the bank manager’s wife hostage. Russell and Raul Sanchez-Inglis co-write the script for the remake.

Joseph Nasser, Michael Mendelsohn and Richard Rionda Del Castro will produce. International rights for the project will go on sale next week at the American Film Market.

Haim Saban, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saban Capital Group, Inc., announced today that Saban Films is closing in on a deal to acquire the U.S. distribution rights to Sarik Andreasyan action-thriller American Heist, starring Hayden Christensen, Academy Award Winner Adrien Brody, Jordana Brewster, Tory Kittles and Aliaune Badara Akon Thiam. The film had its world premiere last night at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Saban Films is emerging as an aggressive buyer in Toronto, acquiring the U.S. rights to John Travolta's The Forger and the action-thriller Tracers, starring Taylor Lautner and Marie Avgeropoulos from Temple Hill Entertainment.

Here's what Saban Films president Bill Bromiley had to say in a statement.

"We were eager to see American Heist coming into Toronto and the film lived up to our expectations. It's just the type of commercial talent driven film we are looking for at Saban."

Adrien Brody and Jordana Brewster have signed on to star in the action project American Heist, alongside Hayden Christensen and Akon.

The project is a remake of the 1959 caper The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery that starred Steve McQueen, which was based on actual events. The story follows two brothers who become involved in bank heist with deadly criminals which goes awry. Their situation strengthens the bond between them, as they show how far each will go to protect their family.

Sarik Andreasyan is directing, with Tove Christensen, Gevond Andreasyan, Georgy Malkov and Vladimir Poliakov producing. Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody will executive produce, alongside Jack Nasser, Joseph Nasser, and JoJo Ryder. Production started today in New Orleans. The project is the first to come out of Hayden Christensen's new company Glacier Films.

American Heist comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Hayden Christensen, Akon, Adrien Brody, Jordana Brewster.

Brody [pictured], who will also serve as executive producer, joins the cast alongside Jordana Brewster and Akon; principal photography commences today [June 24].

Adrien Brody is among the latest names to join Sarik Andreasyan’s American Heist, starring Hayden Christensen.

Brody, who will also serve as executive producer, is joined by Jordana Brewster and Akon on the remake of the 1959 Steve McQueen film St. Louis Bank Robbery.

The Expendables 2 co-stars Randy Couture and Scott Adkins have signed on to star in Distant Shore for indie producers Joseph Nasser and Jack Nasser.

The story centers on a couple who sail into the ocean with the sole purpose of committing suicide on their boat. Their plans are interrupted when another mysterious ship arrives, causing this couple with a death wish to fight for their lives. No details were given regarding Randy Couture and Scott Adkins' characters. The story is being described as a cross between Dead Calm and The Grey.

Dominic James is directing from a screenplay by Evan Jacobs (Dv) and Dan Benamor. Jim Harvey of Studio City Pictures will be shopping the project to buyers at the Berlin International Film Festival this week.

Randy Couture is believed to be shooting this project first, before moving on to The Expendables 3 later this year.

While undercut by his intent to show studio execs his ability to keep budgets under control above all else, Orson Welles' 1946 thriller “The Stranger” remains quite a taut and entertaining genre entry. Robinson and Loretta Young, at no point does the film reach the heights of other works like “Touch of Evil” (which Dp Russell Metty also shot), instead going for a more staid brand of Wellesian tomfoolery, but now it's been revealed that another genre director will attempt his own route with an update of the material. One man holds the bank manager's wife hostage, while the other tells the manager his wife only has five minutes to live unless he transfers money to their account. Musician Johnny Cash starred in the original Five Minutes to Live, which also featured Ron Howard.

Nasser Entertainment Group is financing the drama, which will begin casting immediately. No production schedule was given for Five Minutes to Live.

The story revolves around four characters - a petty thief who seeks a way out of his life after a roadside killing, and two broke sisters who team to get the bounty on a female mobster. They all collide in Las Vegas.

Nancy Fichman & Jennifer Hoppe penned the script, Clark Johnson ("The Sentinel," "S.W.A.T.") is directing while Jack Nasser and Joseph Nasser will produce. Shooting begins August 29th in Canada.

Kim Basinger, Heather Graham, Jason Patric, and Catherine O'Hara have joined the cast of Fortune.

The story centers around a second-rate thief who tries to turn his life around, and two financially-desperate sisters who are trying to track down a female mafia kingpin for the bounty on her head. All four characters collide in Las Vegas, with brutal results.

Production is scheduled to start on August 29 in Canada.

The story follows a couple on a forest camping trip who must fight their way back to civilization through injuries, creepy critters and wild animals after their Jeep crashes.

Jason Bourque directs, Jack and Joseph Nasser ("Damage") are producing and shooting is currently underway in Vancouver.

Charisma Carpenter will star opposite Ty Olsson in Crash Site according to THR, a Jack and Joseph Nasser produced indie thriller that has Jason Bourque set to direct.

The two will play a couple who, due to a car crash while on vacation in the woods, must fight their way back to civilisation. In order to do this, they will have to overcome injuries, ‘creepy critters’ and wild animals.

Fresh off the set of Lionsgate’s The Expendables, Carpenter is best known for her work on TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Veronica Mars. Olsson, on the other hand, is a veteran of V and featured in the much lamented Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.
