On Friday at San Diego Comic-Con, fans packed the Gen V panel as Prime Video debuted the official trailer for the highly anticipated second season of the acclaimed spinoff series set in the Emmy Award-winning world of The Boys.

This season of Gen V introduces key events and revelations that feed directly into the final chapter of The Boys. The first three episodes premiere on September 17, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Cast members Jaz Sinclair, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Hamish Linklater, and showrunner Michele Fazekas took the stage for the Comic-Con panel, which was moderated by franchise fan favorite cast member, P.J. Byrne.

The panel opened with a surprise greeting from a member of The Seven and Godolkin University alumnus, The Deep, played by Chace Crawford, who returns as a guest star in Season Two of Gen V.

Exclusive: Amazon and Sony Television’s Vought Rising, a prequel of The Boys, has cast Elizabeth Posey in a leading and undisclosed role.

She joins Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, stars and executive producers, who will reprise their original The Boys roles of Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.

Vought Rising was ordered to series by Prime Video last summer with mothership series executive producer Paul Grellong set as showrunner of the one-hour drama offshoot from franchise developer Eric Kripke. Will Hochman will also join the series, according to our sister company Variety.

Kripke and Grellong revealed at the time that the prequel is “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought.”

“Vought Rising,” Amazon’s upcoming prequel to “The Boys,” has added Will Hochman to its cast, Variety has learned exclusively.

Hochman joins previously announced leads Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash in the series, which was ordered at Prime Video in July 2024. Variety also reported that Mason Dye, who will appear in “The Boys” Season 5 as Bombsight, could also potentially appear in “Vought Rising.”

Exact details on Hochman’s character are being kept under wraps.

“Vought Rising” has been described as a “twisted murder mystery” that will take place in the 1950s and will see Ackles once again play Soldier Boy while Cash will again play Stormfront, a.k.a. Clara Vought. The show is expected to begin production later this year.

Hochman recently starred in five seasons of the hit CBS procedural “Blue Bloods” in the role of Joe Hill. He also recurred opposite Billy Crystal and Judith Light on the Apple TV+ series “Before.

Today, during the Emmy-winning series The Boys’ Hall H San Diego Comic-Con panel, it was announced that The Boys world is expanding to include Vought Rising, a prequel to The Boys, starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash.

The exciting news was revealed when Ackles surprised the Sdcc audience by coming on stage and tossing to a video from Cash. Past spinoffs from the world of The Boys include Gen V and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, both streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The universe of The Boys is expanding again.

At Comic-Con on Friday, Prime Video announced that it’s ordered a prequel series called Vought Rising that will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, reprising their roles from the flagship series.

Ackles made an appearance onstage at Hall H in San Diego to thunderous applause, and Cash announced the series in a video. Vought Rising joins The Boys‘ college-set spinoff Gen V and the animated show The Boys Presents: Diabolical in Prime Video’s franchise. The 1950s-set series takes place in New York City and, as Ackles said at Comic-Con, will track the “humble yet diabolical” beginnings of Vought.

The Comic-Con panel allowed the main show to take a victory lap after an acclaimed season that also shared tragic parallels to real life.

The Boys continues to be a hit for Amazon.

Season 4 of the Prime Video series, which ended on July 18, exceeded 55M viewers through its first 39 days post-premiere. That’s with just a few days of viewership for the finale.

It marks the third consecutive season of audience growth for The Boys, up 20% from Season 3 in the same time frame. It’s not Prime Video’s fourth most-viewed TV season of all time and the second most-viewed returning season of a series after Reacher Season 2.

Amazon says that 60% of the show’s Season 4 audience came from outside the U.S. with strong performances in UK, Brazil, India, Germany, Canada, France, Mexico, Spain, and Italy.

According to Amazon, the latest season, which premiered with three episodes on June 13, is already up 21% in total viewers compared to Season 3 in the first four days since launch. Season 3 also debuted with three episodes at launch.

Season 4 is now among the Top 5 most-viewed TV seasons on Prime Video through its first 4 days, according to the streamer.

The company didn’t release hard data, but did also say that Season 4 tallied the second most viewers of any returning season on Prime Video through its first four days, behind only Reacher Season 2. Amazon reports that The Boys has now grown in global viewership every season.

Season 4 has done particularly well abroad, with 60% of its audience based outside the U.S. Amazon says the show had strong performance in Brazil, the UK and India.

Eric Kripke, the showrunner of Prime Video’s super(anti)hero series, said on social media Tuesday that the show’s fifth season — which the streamer ordered in May — will be its last.

Hamish Linklater has joined Season 2 of “Gen V” at Amazon Prime Video, Variety has learned.

Linklater will play the character Cipher, described as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”

The series, a spinoff of the popular Prime Video series “The Boys,” follows the students of Godolkin University as they train to become superheroes.

Linklater joins a cast that already includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann. Chance Perdomo had also starred in Season 1, but the actor died in a motorcyle accident in March. The producers of the series have stated his role will not be recast.
