Get ready for an onslaught of "Dune" material now that Hollywood has recognized there's quite an audience for author Frank Herbert's revered sci-fi saga. Not only do we have the upcoming Max series "Dune: Prophecy," the trailer for which reveals several sacrifices will be made, but we'll also see the return of Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides in a third movie from sci-fi maestro Denis Villeneuve.
After "Dune: Part Two" proved massively popular at a time when the box office wasn't exactly at its peak, you better believe Legendary Pictures decided to keep the spice flowing with a third "Dune" movie. The next installment in Villeneuve's epic saga looks likely to be an adaptation of the second novel in Herbert's original run, with Villeneuve previously revealing his eagerness to adapt "Dune Messiah." At this point, the man can basically do no wrong, having proven Herbert's supposedly "unfilmable...

The long wait is over. The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode’s first-person narrative horror title Still Wakes the Deep is available today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam. The customary launch trailer gets right to the point with showing glimpses of the aquatic horror that awaits players, set to Maggie MacInnes‘ haunting “Fath Mo Mhulaid a Bhith Ann” (“Being here has caused my sorrow”).
Set aboard the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland in the North Sea in 1975, Still Wakes the Deep has players fighting for their lives while they’re stalked by an unknowable horror that has come aboard. As Cameron “Caz” McLeary (voiced by Alec Newman), players will navigate the collapsing rig, desperately searching for a way home.

Still Wakes the Deep is a masterclass of emotional turmoil and existential horror, asking what John Carpenter’s The Thing would look like if it was set on a Scottish oil rig. Although many may look at Still Wakes the Deep as just another indie horror walking simulator, the stakes here were actually a lot higher for me given that I am Scottish and am a massive fan of the works that this game takes inspiration from like The Thing and the films of Ken Loach.
Thankfully, Still Wakes the Deep ranks a lot closer to Trainspotting than it does River City when it comes to comparing other Scottish media. This title really blew me away, mostly thanks to it impeccable presentation. From its solid voice acting, to its horrifying monster designs, to its brilliant writing, this experience gripped me in a way that no Aaa title has been able to in years.

Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release in early 2023… and sure, the movie racked up the Razzies, but it’s money that matters, and that’s why Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 was made and given a theatrical release earlier this year. We know the Australia-based company Umbrella Entertainment will be giving the film a special edition Blu-ray release next month, and now it has been announced (via Collider) that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will be receiving a VOD release in the United States on June 26th!

With Summer Game Fest winding down, The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode have released the launch trailer Still Wakes the Deep, just ahead of its launch. The new trailer gives a taste of what awaits main character Cameron “Caz” McLeary (voiced by Alec Newman), as well as Caz’s dictatorial boss Rennick.
The trailer also gives fans a glimpse of the disasters that will hit the Beira D, and see hints of the unknowable horror chasing down the rig’s crew in Still Wakes the Deep.
Taking place in 1975, disaster has struck the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland. Caz McLeary is one of the oil rig workers on the Beira D rig, fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. And something has snuck on board,...

The history of Hollywood adapting video games in movies and TV shows has been a little spotty, to say the least, but in recent years, I think the tide has been turning. With shows like The Last of Us and Fallout, video game fans have developed a little hope to see their favorite adapted into a great piece of art and while there will still be wasted efforts like Netflix’s The Witcher and Paramount+’s Halo, they are still only two shows. So, in keeping with that spirit of hope we created a list of the 10 best TV shows that were adapted from video games, they can be original stories in the world of video games but they have to be connected to the original IP.

With the release of Still Wakes the Deep less than a month away, developer The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode have revealed the voice cast for the game in a new mini documentary. The cast includes Alec Newman (Cyberpunk 2077), who will be voicing the main protagonist, Cameron “Caz” McLeary, and Neve McIntosh as Suze, Caz’s wife.
“The thing was so well written, and so well-conceived, that I don’t recall having very long conversations about what Caz should sound like,” says Newman, discussing what struck him about Still Wakes the Deep. “With this, you can feel the writing, you can feel the characters.”
Alongside Newman and McIntosh, the full cast for Still Wakes the Deep includes Karen Dunbar, Michael Abubakar, Clive Russell, Shaun Dooley, Stewart Scudamore, Nicholas Boulton, Duncan Pow, Sandy Batchelor, Alan Turkington, and Noof Ousellam.

We already knew that there’s going to be another installment in the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey horror franchise, because it was announced earlier this month that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (which is now on the last day of its three-day theatrical run) a part of a cinematic universe with other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung, and it’s building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will be released in 2025. But now Variety has been able to confirm that, in addition to Poohniverse, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 is also moving ahead. This sequel will have a bigger budget than either of its predecessors, and “will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles.

This Dune article contains spoilers.
If the shocking ending of Dune: Part Two left you wanting more, you can actually watch Dune: Part Three right now. Kind of. Although Denis Villeneuve hasn’t fully committed to a movie adaptation of Dune Messiah, there is an often overlooked filmed version of this Dune sequel out there right now. This isn’t a bootleg or a fan film either, but The Sci-Fi Channel’s excellent Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune miniseries. This very real adaptation of Dune Messiah even stars several major Hollywood stars, including James McAvoy and Susan Sarandon, as well as Star Trek legend Alice “The Borg Queen” Krige.
If you’ve slept on this particular Dune sequel, now is possibly the best time to watch it. Here’s what to know about Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune, why it’s great, and how to watch it.

George Clooney says the Ocean’s gang could get back together after reading a “great script” for another film in the starry heist series. Speaking with Uproxx about his upcoming movie The Boys in the Boat, Clooney revealed a new Ocean’s film could find the crew from the trilogy reuniting for events set after Ocean’s 13. Ocean’s 14, anyone?
“We have a really good script for another ‘Ocean’s’ now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script,” Clooney told Uproxx.
The outlet tried pressing Clooney for more information, though he was reluctant to share too much. When asked if the project intends to become Ocean’s 14, Clooney said, “Well… I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going in Style.'”

"Europe is a tough place. And only the strongest of you will make it there." Voltage Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a Belgian horror thriller survival film called The Hunted, made by French filmmaker Louis Lagayette. This seems to be a promo trailer to attract buyers more than for audiences, since there's no release dates set. After their boat capsizes in the Mediterranean Sea, a group of refugees are rescued by rich Europeans who offer them shelter on an idyllic island. But the miracle soon becomes a nightmare when the saviours turn into ruthless manhunters. So this is a campy modern twist on "The Most Dangerous Game" story, involving refugees who get turned into the prey when they're taken to a private island. Scary! Starring Lily Banda, Alec Newman, Mylène Jampanoï, Raj Bajaj, Vassilis Koukalani, Aurora Marion, & Daphne Alexander. It's a bit of a manipulative concept, but the...

"Master of the sword, maestro of the bow." Searchlight Pics has unveiled a new promo spot for Chevalier, which is now set to open in theaters on April 21st next month. They're calling this a new trailer, though it's more of a 30-second TV spot - still looks damn good. It premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival last year to rave reviews. Starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a "tour de force performance" as real life composer Joseph Bologne, "Chevalier" de Saint-Georges. The son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne rises to great heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette and her court. It also stars Lucy Boynton as Antoinette, plus Samara Weaving, Minnie Driver, Marton Csokas, Sian Clifford, Alec Newman, Ronke Adekoluejo, and Alex Fitzalan. I am dying to see this!

The 6-part series is directed by Paul Spurrier and produced through Commercial Films Siam. It premiered at SeriesFest in Denver and has won awards at other festivals since.
The show stars Alec Newman and Thailand’s Vithaya Pansringarm in a story about one man’s quest for financial power and the dark purpose he wants it for. One innocent girl stands in his way. The series was created through partnership with U.S. producer David Cluck, and from executive VP of Warner Bros, Jeffrey Calman.
“’Eullenia’ is a great example of the skills and talents that have developed in Asia, and marks the first time that a series from Thailand has been produced in English language for the international market,” said James Ross, CEO of Lightning. Lightning’s deal excludes rights in China.

"I want her to be like everyone else." Vertical Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for an indie drama titled Where Hands Touch, premiering at the Toronto Film Festival coming up. This is the latest film by filmmaker Amma Asante and it's about a young mixed-race girl living in Nazi Germany in the 1940s. Inspired by a real photo of an African-German woman during WWII, the film stars Amandla Stenberg as Leyna, a courageous teen who must figure out how to survive when the Nazis start eradicating anyone that didn't fit into their perfect Aryan society. The cast includes George MacKay, Abbie Cornish, Christopher Eccleston, Tom Goodman-Hill, Alec Newman, Olivia Vinall, and Will Attenborough. This looks very good, not a story I have heard of before, but I'm very much interested in seeing this now. Stenberg keeps appearing in more and more and she's always impressive. Check this out.

Since losing his sight in Afghanistan, Army veteran Mal (Alec Newman) has become disillusioned with and withdrawn from society. With his compensation due, however, he plans on escaping the city once and for all by moving to a cottage in the South Downs. Unfortunately, days before his planned departure, Mal’s guide dog goes missing on an otherwise routine walk. Suspecting foul play, he returns the following day in order to search the notorious Greyhawk Estate one occupant at a time. At first frustrated by their pity and reluctant to accept their assistance, Mal eventually employs the help of unemployed mother Paula (Zoe Telford), her rebellious son Jem (Michael Fox), and an enthusiastic Sikh man (Mal Soor) who delights in playing detective.
It’s a struggle to think of a movie about blindness that doesn’t use the subject for comedic or horrific effect. Blindness, maybe. Ray, of course. Or there’s Daredevil.

★★☆☆☆Greyhawk (2014), the debut feature from Guy Pitt, takes a simple premise and unravels it slowly under the ominous shadow of a dilapidated London council estate. The modest tale of a blind man who loses his guide dog, Pitt's drama attempts to confront our preconceptions towards disability but in doing so completely misrepresents an entire layer of society. Mal Walker (Alec Newman) is a disillusioned, cantankerous army veteran who, after losing his sight in Afghanistan, has chosen a life of solitude - except, of course, for Quincy, his loyal guide dog. "Quincy is a shit guide dog," Mal remarks during one scene, though the support and friendship he provides makes him the closest thing to family he has.

Dracula simplifies things and delivers its strongest episode so far. Here's Laura's review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.4 From Darkness To Light
There’s a lot going on in this week’s episode, some of it necessary, some of it not. The primary plot this week focused on Dracula’s plan to turn Lady Jayne, vampire killer, into the willing lapdog of her usual prey. And in this plotline, it was quite successful. But where the story deviated from this, it was both weak and distracting.
The first big distraction comes in the form of Lucy. Despite all her flirtatious ways with the men in her orbit, it’s been made clear in the last two weeks that her primary romantic interest is her friend Mina. A great deal is made out of the fact that, once Mina is married, a door will have been...

Waterloo Road star Alec Newman has promised that the show is returning to "edgier" storylines in its new series. The BBC One drama returns to screens tomorrow evening (August 23) as Newman's character Michael Byrne officially opens the new Waterloo Road in Scotland. Waterloo Road's move away from its previous home of Rochdale was first announced last year as part of the BBC's aim to produce more programming in Scotland. Discussing the school's relocation on BBC Breakfast today (August 22), Newman commented: "I suppose it's a 'truth is stranger than fiction' thing, in a way! There is a precedent for it and we are aware that it's a very bold, dramatic move. "I spent a little bit of time with a real headteacher of an independent school down in the south of England, and that's what I was very (more)...
