Tony Leung Chiu Wai is one of the most recognizable Asian actors in the world, chiefly through his collaborations with a number of master filmmakers, including Ang Lee, Hou Hsiao Hsien, John Woo and Wong Kar Wai. Leung, who also has a career as a pop singer, has been praised by audiences and critics for his ability to wonderfully portray a plethora of different roles, a skill stressed by the fact that he can fluently speak Cantonese, English and Spanish.

His career reached its apogee from the end of the 80s, and Leung never actually deteriorated, with the astonishing parts coming one of the other. It is by no surprise then, that this year, he was presented with the Venice Film Festival lifetime achievement award

Ng Man-tat, the star Shaolin Soccer and frequent collaborator of Kung Fu Hustle filmmaker Stephen Chow, has died.

The iconic Hong Kong actor, accompanied by his wife and children, died peacefully on Saturday of liver cancer. He was 70.

Born in China’s Fujian province in 1951, Ng began his career with acting classes from Hong Kong’s Tvb at 19 years old. Just years later he appeared Tit Lee’s 1975 comedy Gu huo lao xun chun, marking the vet’s first screen credit.

Upon garnering experience in a number of film and television titles throughout the 70s and 80s, Ng landed a recurring role in the adventure series The Legend of the Condor Heroes. The series, adapted from Louis Cha’s novel of the same name, saw Ng play Elder Peng.

I’m a very big fan of the Lucky Star Movies from the hard hitting Wheels On Meals to the Hilarious Winners And Sinners, i am sure The Return of Lucky Stars will be another hit for the gang. The feelgood comedy will feature veteran Hong Kong actor Richard Ng.

Malaysia’s prolific writer-director Ryon Lee is directing House Of Happiness as the first feature film project of local Chinese-language radio station 988.

The feelgood comedy, which started production in early March, is scheduled for a 2018 Chinese New Year release. The cast includes veteran Hong Kong actor Richard Ng, Malaysian actor Steve Yap and various popular 988 DJs such as Chan Fong.

Lee is co-directing with his assistant director Jy Teng. The film is produced by Lomo Pictures, a new Malaysia-based company founded by Lee and producer Aron Koh.

Lomo is also bringing to Filmart another two new projects directed by Lee: drama The Dream and horror Haunted Road 2, both of which are co-produced with China’s Zhejiang Hewen TV & Film.

Hot off the success of last year’s box office record-setting smash The Mermaid, Stephen Chow brought us a sequel this Lunar New Year to his 2013 film Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons. While it set an opening day record in China, and was initially released in North America on roughly twice as many screens, it has thus far failed to match The Mermaid’s financial success. I have no idea why that is, anyone who claims to understand what makes the difference between a hit and a super-hit is a liar or a fool, but I can theorize that the film’s somewhat mixed critical response is a response to its weird hybrid nature. Not just in the ways Chow situates a sincere appreciation for religion within a goofy pop context, but in the film’s dual authorship between Chow, who co-wrote and produced, and Tsui Hark, who directed.

Started in 1989 by the prolific Wong Jing, the God of Gamblers series has been continuing to entertain audiences for the past 27 years. It’s Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong (2015) Film Review from the 21st Annual Los Angeles Film Festival, a movie directed by Emily Ting, Starring Jamie Chung, Bryan Greenberg, Zach Hines, Richard Ng, Linda Trinh, Collin Leydon and Po-Chih Leong.

There were many films to get lost in at this years Film festival. The film budgets are going up and named actors are throwing their hat in the dance more and more. One thing I also noticed was new directors coming in and telling an old story with fresh faces.

Emily Ting, Director and Writer of It’s Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, has directed six films. This appears to be her best film to date. When this movie starts I noticed the wonderful photography and the beauty of Hong Kong. It’s an amazing place…especially when filmed at night. It reminded me of another film…from another time – When harry Met Sally.

Yuen Biao is one of the greatest screen performers of all time. He exploded onto our screens when Sammo Hung cast him in the amazing movie Knockabout and he has never looked back since.

This list will be familiar with most fans around the world, but this list is also for people who are new to this genre and want to check out some great flicks. I have added a few movies, which are a bit low budget but does contain some nice action.

I know there are still many Yuen Biao movies i could have named in this list, some i shall give a mention to at the bottom of the feature. So i hope you like the movies i have listed, if your new to Yuen Biao please check out some of these great flicks.

“Hi, Fidelity” writer director Calvin Poon returns with pan-Asian romantic comedy “Shadows of Love”, this time backed by acclaimed film maker Stanley Kwan (“Rouge”, “Centre Stage”) lending his talents as producer. The film features a high profile lead pairing in Kwon Sang Woo, one of Korea’s top stars, known for his roles in a variety of hit television series such as “Lady President” and “Cinderella Man”, as well as big screens outings “Pain” and “71 – Into the Fire”, and popular Chinese actress Cecilia Cheung (“Legendary Amazons”), continuing her career comeback. Lam Ching Ying is my favorite star in any Horror movie, weather it be taking on hopping vampires or just plain old spirits, no one does it better than lam.

His roles in the Mr.Vampire movies show his skills as an actor, with great comic timing which goes well with his serious acting side, which we dont normally get to see on screen. This role would make him, not just a big star in Asia but also worldwide as the master of Vampire killers.

I thought it was about time i did a post on the great vampire buster of all time, yes you got it, lam Ching Ying. This will be listing all the movies and tv series where Lam Ching Ying either stars in or takes on the hopping vampires and evil spirits.

His roles in the Mr.Vampire movies show his skills as an actor, with great comic timing which goes well with his serious acting side, which we normally get to see on screen. This role would make him, not just a big star in Asia but also worldwide as the master of Vampire killers.

Other great movies which he starred in (But not in a vampire movie) were the likes of The Prodigal Son, School On Fire, Eastern Condors, The Magnificent Butcher and Painted Faces.

Boy, have martial arts films from Hong Kong come a long way! Since Magnificent Warriors is a kung fu film from the 1980s, there's no doubt that it hasn't aged really well. Nonetheless, if you're a fan of fighting films, then this is for you.

The film starts in 1938, a time when there were conflicts between Japan and China. Fok Ming-Ming (Michelle Yeoh) is a spy for the Chinese resistance movement who is asked to fly in the region of Inner Mongolia. Her job is to find a spy codenamed Sky Number One (Richard Ng) and cooperate with him in flying out Youda (Lowell Lo), a lord who rules the city of Kaal. Besides, the resistance movement sent a flashy watch through a pigeon.

However, the watch falls into the hands of Wong (Yee Tung-Shing), a tramp and a gambler, because he killed the bird and ate it. Obviously, Ming-Ming...

Originally released back in 1990 when the Hong Kong ghost comedy was enjoying somewhat of a resurgence, “Till Death Shall we Start” joined the ranks of films with suspiciously familiar sounding titles, including the likes of “Till Death do we Scare” and “Till Death do us Laugh”. The film was directed by none other than Ricky Lau, who had been responsible for one of the genre’s very best and biggest hits in the form of the immortal “Mr Vampire”. Here, he teams with two of the period’s top comic titles in Anthony Chan (“Happy Bigamist”) and Richard Ng (“Winners and Sinners”) in a manic, bawdy romp that now makes a very welcome return to DVD. Although Stephen Chow is obviously best known for his comedic genius and hits such as “Kung Fu Hustle” and “Shaolin Soccer”, as a young actor he paid his dues in a variety of genres. Inevitably, as with pretty much every other performer of his generation, this saw him making a number of appearances in that most enduring of 1990s trends, namely the Triad drama.
