Due out in January next year, The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box boasts a stellar cast led by Aneurin Barnard, Michael Sheen, and Lena Headey.

Image Entertainment and The Film Arcade have struck a deal in Toronto for Us rights to $25m action fantasy The Adventurer: The Curse Of The Midas Box starring Michael Sheen and Lena Headey.

Jonathan Newman directed the adaptation of G P Taylor’s bestseller Mariah Mundi And The Midas Box, about a 17-year-old’s quest through a steam-powered land in search of his missing family.

Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd and Aneurin Barnard also star and Karl Richards, Ibon Cormenzana, Ignasi Estapé and Peter Bevan produced.

Mark Ward and chief acquisition officer Bill Bromiley negotiated the deal on behalf of Rlj Entertainment with Dreamcatchers’ Marina Fuentes and The Exchange’s Brian O’Shea and Nat McCormick on behalf of the filmmakers.

“With the novel’s strong following, there’s no doubt that The Adventurer: The Curse Of The Midas Box will be a hit with fans and general audiences alike,” said Bromiley.

Martin Freeman (The Office) and pop starlette Mandy Moore play a yuppie couple who experiment with swinging when their sex life hits a plateau. Debut writer-director Jonathan Newman concocts a saucy Brit-sex-comedy that explores both male and female married insecurities while also finding time for a cucumber gag. Louie Spence pops up to offer some between-the-sheets advice while Angus Deayton cheekily sends up his tarnished reputation as a bi-curious wife-swapper.

Nu Media/Millennium Films posted a flyer at the current American Film Market with announcements and details of their projects. Two such projects on that slate though are high profile sequels.

The first is "The Expendables 3", not a surprise considering the success of the first two films. The more unexpected one is a follow-up to the Jason Statham-led 2011 remake of "The Mechanic". That film was both panned by critics and fared poorly at the box-office. [Source: Collider]

Earlier this month rising Welsh star Aneurin Barnard was cast in the title role of Mariah Mundi in Mariah Mundi and The Midas Box the film adaptation of G.P Taylor's novel, and the first film in a potential franchise.

Joining him, will be 17 year old Mella Carron from Dublin as Sacha, a young Irish maid at the Prince Regent Hotel, who concerned that strange things are happening and that children from the area are disappearing, teams up with Mariah to help him find out the truth.

Mella attends the Independent Theatre Workshop in Dublin (of which Game of Thrones' Jack Gleeson is also a graduate). She has had previous small screen roles in Death of a Superhero and Camelot.

Yesterday I got to meet ad interview new upcoming talent, Aneurin Banard for his new movie, Elfie Hopkins where he plays a geek opposite non-geek Jamie Winstone (it’ll go live next week). I then get home only to find that the man who I tipped for great things has been cast in this brand new movie opposite the likes of Michael Sheen, Lena Headey, Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd and Keeley Hawes. Aneurin will play the lead in this latest film called Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box which is based on the teen adventure series by G.P. Taylor.

Romantic comedies are often criticized for portraying that true love conquers all, and that relationships can last, as long as the two people love each other. But the new film Swinging with the Finkels strives to prove that no matter how much chemistry two people have together in the beginning of a relationship, they eventually lose the sparks they once had for each other, and no longer have intense chemistry. However, despite writer-director Jonathan Newman's good intentions, the film unfortunately fails to maintain any interest in the subject.

Thoughts by Tsr: I like Freeman, who was great on the UK’s The Office, but wow this is a weird trailer. A (very attractive) couple becomes bored with their marriage and decides to start swinging. It looks like the whole film is about finding someone to swing with. This trailer is kind of weird, it sort of explains what the film is about but then sort of ends, I don’t know what it’s supposed to be saying. A married couple tries to find a couple to swing with and…? What they showed doesn’t look that great, or particularly funny. I’m surprised it’s being distributed, it seems like the company does not care about this movie. By the way, why is Jonathan Silverman billed first?...

Writer-director Jonathan Newman developed the feature from his short film "Sex With the Finkels," which debuted on the Web site Filmaka.

"Finkels" is being produced by Kintop Pictures/Reliance and Starlight Films in association with Urban Island and Filmaka. Filmaka co-founder Deepak Nayar and Rosanne Milliken are producing. Thomas Augsberger, Philip von Alvensleben, Albert Klychak and David Mutch are exec producing.

Foreign sales will be handled by Simon Crowe's Sc Films International.
