AsStephen Kingfans gear up for the release of It: Welcome to Derry, the HBO prequel to It that'll arrive in October, many wonder whether the TV version will be able to capture the horror of the 2017 adaptation and its 2019 sequel. Show creator Barbara Muschietti understands this concern, and she's offered fans the reassurance they've been hoping for, vowing that It: Welcome to Derry will be as scary as the movies.
Per Screen Rant, the showrunner and producer appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con to talk about the upcoming show, where she was joined by her brother, co-producer and It director, Andy Muschietti, and they shared a few details about the series. This article contains spoilers for Outer Range season 2.
Many shows in TV history have lived and died by their mysterious nature. Ongoing storylines in classics such as The X-Files, Lost, and Fringe had fans theorizing about main characters’ fates, the creative team’s intentions, or the deeper meaning of it all. Recently, shows such as From, Severance, and Yellowjackets have the same kind of devout following, and the same overarching enigmas that keep audiences coming back for answers.
When looking back at Outer Range’s first season, it’s easy to understand why the show was picked up for a second, and why the show had to come back – to unravel some of those riddles that season one left behind. While the sophomore season might have created more questions than answers, at least some of the puzzles have been solved. But don’t worry, if you’re still feeling out of the loop,...

Dubbed one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, Seinfeld is a classic fixture of '90s television — however, there are some harsh realities of watching Seinfeld now. Co-created by writer Larry David and comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who also stars as a version of himself, the long-running "show about nothing" has plenty of enduring episodes, characters, and lines. Looking back, though, some moments — or general attitudes perpetuated by the gang — are cringe-worthy at best and downright offensive at worst.
A rejection of sentimental, wholesome sitcoms, Seinfeld knowingly centers on characters who are awful (and sometimes awfully relatable) people. Jerry (Seinfeld) and his pals — best buddy George Costanza (Jason Alexander), ex-turned-friend Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and bizarre neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards) — are often in the wrong. At times, that makes for great comedy, but sometimes, that premise falls apart, making certain scenes (or episodes) difficult to watch.

There's almost always a market for gritty westerns, but there's been a bounty of well-made, pitch-black tales of the American west lately. Joining the ranks of shows like "1883" and films like the Academy Award-winning "Power of the Dog" is "The English," a new Prime Video and BBC limited series from writer and director Hugo Blick about romance and revenge on the lawless prairie.
Emily Blunt stars as Lady Cornelia Locke, an Englishwoman of some means who arrives in Kansas looking for vengeance when the violent chaos of the plains throws a massive wrench in her plans. Her fate seems to be intertwined with a Pawnee ex-calvary scout named Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer), who is on his own journey of bloody revenge and redemption. There's more going on — a whole lot more — but the primary drive of the story is Cornelia and Eli's fiery chemistry and their shared goals.
The dialogue is tightly written,...

What right does the BBC have, making a lavish six-part western? The BBC – which is all about stuffy, bonneted period dramas and documentaries where a nonagenarian cavorts with chimpanzees – tackling the quintessence of American culture? And, to add to the impertinence, calling it The English? Well, that’s the situation we arrive at with Hugo Blick’s BBC Two drama (co-produced with Amazon), which arrives on our screen with a thunder of hooves.
Emily Blunt is Cornelia Locke, an Englishwoman whose father owns “half of Devon”. She’s journeying through the heart of America on an unarticulated voyage of revenge. It’s there that she encounters Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer), trussed up and beaten to a pulp. A Pawnee-born ex-us army officer, Whipp wants to claim a slide of American land, as is his veteran’s right. “Smoke dreams for the fireside,” dismisses a fellow soldier. Fate throws Eli and Cornelia together,...

In the final days of 2014, my wife and I both came down with a nasty case of the flu. Unable to do much but alternately shiver and sweat in bed together, we attempted to distract ourselves with a miniseries I had heard good things about earlier in the year: The Honourable Woman. Written and directed by Hugo Blick, the thriller starred Maggie Gyllenhaal as an Anglo-Jewish businesswoman caught up in a web of intrigue that involved, among other things, a kidnapping, Israeli intelligence officers, and, I think, fiber optic cables?...

A prodigal returns in Montana Story but this drama is one that skips the more familiar approach to explore a more interesting road less traveled. Long estranged siblings reunite against the dramatic backdrop of the windswept Montana landscape, when a young woman unexpectedly returns to the ranch home she left seven years earlier, to visit her dying, comatose father, to the surprise of her younger brother who remained and is struggling to handle their father’s final affairs. In the contemporary Western drama Montana Story, Haley Lu Richardson and Owen Teague play the sister and brother, who work through their feelings about their difficult father and their own past history, as they deal with the financially grim situation their dying parent leaves behind. Richardson and Teague create a realistic relationship between the siblings, which draws us in...
