10 Disappointing Disney Movie Plot Holes You’ll Wish You Never Noticed
Image
Disney has created hundreds of cinematic masterpieces with over a century of classics. However, even the best of these incredible stories have some glaring plot holes. And once fans find out about these story mistakes, it's difficult to forget.

While most are understandable as its in service of a more fun and lighthearted story, these plot holes are still big enough for fans to never look at their favorite films the same way again.

Cruella Should Have Been an Original Character

Disney's Cruella was a fun, wild ride, but not everything added up enough to connect to the original to make it a great film.

10 Iconic Disney Heroes with Unforgettable Arcs
Image
Heroes are a core part of any Disney movie. They represent the good fight against evil, although they often have some of their own learning to do along the way. There are a number of heroes who have made mistakes, going on a long journey to discover their strengths or capabilities.

Their character arcs can often be the most compelling part of a movie. The things that motivate them or their reasons to go on a quest of self-discovery keeps audiences hooked through to the end. The best character arcs from iconic Disney heroes vary from saving others to learning about what makes them heroic.

Baloo’s Heart Ruled His Head

Baloo's arc is a subtle one in The Jungle Book but it comes out of his willingness to do the right thing, no matter what his heart wants. The bear became friends with Mowgli, who was a young human...

The Old In-Out: ‘Hard Wood: The Adult Features of Ed Wood’ on Severin Films Blu-ray
Image
The four films collected in Severin’s new set Hard Wood chronicle a seismic shift in cult filmmaker Ed Wood’s oeuvre. They see him moving from utterly idiosyncratic mashups of sci-fi and horror like Bride of the Monster and the immortal Plan 9 from Outer Space (not to mention the mockumentary delirium of Glen or Glenda?) to other perhaps less reputable pastures in the land of exploitation filmmaking. Starting with The Sinister Urge in 1960, except for one reasonably charming excursion into cornpone comedy, Wood largely confined himself to working within the increasingly explicit realm of sexploitation films.

Wood co-wrote but did not direct 1963’s Shotgun Wedding, a prime example of the hicksploitation craze that swept the nation in the early ’60s after the runaway success of the TV show The Beverley Hillbillies, which, in the world of exploitation filmmaking, bore fruit like Herschell Gordon Lewis’s gore-laden Brigadoon riff Two Thousand Maniacs!

10 Worst Things Disney Heroes Have Done
Image
Disney heroes are some of the best characters that audiences immediately fall in love with. They take viewers on journeys to magical places, often with a mission they have to conquer, whether big or small. Many of them are full of inspiration and wisdom, but they sometimes make mistakes along the way.

On occasion, their mistakes make them more relatable. Everyone messes up at times, but it's how they choose to fix the errors that make them heroic. A few others decide to do things that viewers find a little harder to forgive. The worst things that Disney heroes have done are always part of their character arc and storyline.

The Most Iconic Jungle Book Characters, Ranked
Image
The Jungle Book is a Disney movie that came out in 1967, based on Rudyard Kipling's writings. The traditionally animated movie depicts a young boy named Mowgli living in the jungle after he was found as a baby by a black panther. He grows up alongside the animals of the jungle but has to leave because of the presence of a man-eating tiger who threatens to kill Mowgli.

The animation is a classic story that has stayed with Disney since its release before the Renaissance period. In 2016, a live-action version was made and directed by Jon Favreau. The plot line takes viewers away from the commonly written prince and princess narrative and puts them into a different world but exciting, surrounded by interesting and quirky characters that make the film a much-loved Disney staple.

10 Most Underrated Halloween Movies Of All Time
Image
Not every movie centered around Halloween gets the proper recognition it deserves, with many incredible holiday classics falling by the wayside in favor of bigger films. When it comes to Halloween and movies, it's easy for all discussion to be overtaken by the ubiquitous Halloween movie series that began with the John Carpenter movie of the same name. That being said, Michael Myers doesn't have a monopoly on cinematic Halloween iconography, with plenty of great undersung films themed around the holiday to reach for going undersung.

Being a horror movie isn't necessarily the same as being a Halloween movie, with the best films that represent the season being themed around or at least taking place during Halloween. Halloween movies don't necessarily need to be scary to be classics either, with some of the best of them being cozy family-friendly films with a heartening Autumnal vibe. Some of the strongest film...

The Smartest Disney Heroes of All Time
Image
Villains and heroes are part and parcel of Disney movies, as they lead the main plot line. While some protagonists use their brute strength to defeat the antagonist, there are also a number of heroes who steal the limelight by being the most intelligent and able to use their smart minds to outwit their enemies.

As previously mentioned, there are times when strength or the ability to fight comes in handy. For example, the Beast from Beauty and the Beast is faced with fighting Gaston and an army of villagers, which requires him to use violence. A smart mind can be just as useful when plotting against another character. Having said that, intelligence isn't only measured by the ability to defeat someone else. There are other heroes who are proven to be super smart in how they wish to live their lives.

Rupert Murdoch
Forgotten by Fox: Milton Berle's Paradise Regained
Rupert Murdoch
As Disney quietly disappears huge swathes of film history into its vaults, I'm going to spend 2020 celebrating Twentieth Century Fox and the Fox Film Corporation's films, what one might call their output if only someone were putting it out.And now they've quietly disappeared William Fox's name from the company: guilty by association with Rupert Murdoch, even though he never associated with him.***"Would you recognize Milton Berle without his mother? No!" So says the man himself, Milton Berle, in Over My Dead Body (1942), a fairly shoddy reminder that Berle was, for now-inexplicable reasons, a movie star in the early forties. But while some talent from radio and vaudeville slid into cinema with the ease of the proverbial buttered eel, Berle somehow got lodged halfway down cinema's throat, for reasons which may tell us something about classical Hollywood filmmaking, and something about this particular clown.Fox tested Berle on...

The Jungle Book (1967)
Jon Favreau in Talks to Direct Disney's Live-Action The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book (1967)
Director Jon Favreau is in negotiations with Disney to make a live-action reboot of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. We first reported on the project in July, when Disney moved forward with a screenplay by Justin Marks (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo).

Here's what Jon Favreau had to say in a brief statement.

I can't say that much, but there is an interesting take that could be very cool, and the hope is to relaunch a family brand with certain mythic elements. It is my first real family film since Elf, and there are action elements and visual effects that I feel like my experience on the Iron Man films are going to be useful."

The original Rudyard Kipling novel was published in 1894, which followed a young orphaned boy who is raised in the jungle by a bear, a black panther, and a pack of wolves. The novel is now in the public domain.

Kathryn Beaumont
Exclusive: Kathryn Beaumont Talks Alice in Wonderland
Kathryn Beaumont
I can't tell you what I was doing when I was 10 years old with any certainty, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with swapping baseball cards with my friends. When Kathryn Beaumont was 10 years old, she signed on to portray the voice of Disney's animated adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Not only did she provide the voice for this iconic character, but Walt Disney himself was so impressed with her acting ability, Kathryn Beaumont became the live-action model for Alice as well, performing scenes for the animators to base their work on.

The original animated Alice in Wonderland is celebrating its 60th Annviersary this year and Disney is releasing this classic in a new Blu-ray edition, which hits the shelves on February 1. I had the chance to speak with Kathryn Beaumont over the phone about her experiences on Alice in Wonderland and here's what she...
