The streamer has ordered a second season of A Man on the Inside, a comedy series starring Danson as Charles, a widower who, in the first season, goes to work for a private investigator (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) to investigate thefts in a retirement community. The series is inspired by the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent.

The renewal comes a few weeks after A Man on the Inside’s Nov. 21 premiere and on the heels of Danson earning a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. In Netflix’s A Man On The Inside, Ted Danson stars as Charles a retired professor who goes undercover in a retirement community to solve the mystery of a resident’s family heirloom that’s disappeared.

Based on the Maite Alberdi’s documentary The Mole Agent, the series, which launches today, could be seen as a limited project, a one and done investigation, but Danson and showrunner Mike Schur are hoping for more cases.

In the finale episode [Spoilers Alert], Danson’s Charles answers his phone from private investigator Julie, played by Lilah Richcreek Estrada. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but I have another job for you,” she says.

“Say no more,” replies Charles before hanging up the phone. “Hey, sorry I do need you to say more but whatever it is, I’m in,” he adds as he calls her back.

The setup is designed for a second season.

The “Cheers” icon leads Netflix series “A Man on the Inside,” which is based on Maite Alberdi‘s Oscar-nominated 2021 documentary “The Mole Agent.” Danson’s “The Good Place” showrunner Mike Schur is the creator of the series, with Alberdi executive producing.

The series High Potential has stopped the streaming chart. High Potential is a new detective series starring Kaitlin Olson as a single mom named Morgan who helps solve crimes by rearranging evidence during her work as a cleaner for the police department. Olson is best known for her work playing Dee Reynolds on the beloved comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In addition to Olson, High Potential features a leading cast including Javicia Leslie, Daniel Sunjata, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes.

As per Variety, High Potential topped the streaming chart upon its debut.

Ten years ago, Jennifer Kent’s “The Babadook” opened a vein by exposing the dark side of motherhood from the mother’s perspective. The premise is pure midnight movie: An unnamed woman (Amy Adams), who’s paused her career as an artist for the stay-at-home suburban mom life she thought she wanted for herself, starts experiencing strange symptoms. First, a patch of fur appears on her lower back; then, she grows a tail. Neighborhood dogs start coming up to her at the playground and showing up on her porch, beckoning her out into the night. Netflix has dropped first look images for the upcoming comedy series “A Man on the Inside” starring Ted Danson.

The half-hour show hails from creator Mike Schur, who is reuniting with Danson following their time working together on “The Good Place.” It is a series adaptation of the 2021 documentary feature “The Mole Agent.” Netflix ordered the show to series in 2023. It will premiere in November, though an official date has yet to be set.

A new Tyler Perry legal thriller, "Mea Culpa," has quickly climbed up the Netflix global Top 10 charts despite being poorly received by critics. There's an absurdist streak in the story where almost nothing makes much sense, leaning hard into exaggerated and predictable plot progressions that feel unrealistic from start to finish. Perhaps this willful absurdity contributes to the guilty pleasure of it all, shooting "Mea Culpa" to the top of the streaming charts, where it's sitting at number one as of this writing.

Part sleazy erotic thriller, part relationship drama, "Mea Culpa" centers on criminal defense attorney Mea Harper (Kelly Rowland), who needs to take on a case involving artist Zyair Malloy (Trevante Rhodes) and his deceased girlfriend Hydie (María Gabriela González). Although there are reasons to believe that Zyair is guilty of murdering Hydie, Mea's increasing attraction to her client further complicates matters, despite her dedication to uncovering the truth.
