Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen is joining her husband, Ted Danson, on season two of Netflix’s A Man on the Inside. Season one held a spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list for five weeks and earned a second season order a month after its November 2024 premiere.

According to the streamer, Steenburgen will play Mona Margadoff, “a former musician who factors heavily in the case Charles is trying to solve.” Ted Danson reprises his role as Charles. Netflix hasn’t announced the full cast of the upcoming season or a target premiere date.

The season one cast included Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, Margaret Avery, John Getz, and Susan Ruttan. Based on the Maite Alberdi’s documentary The Mole Agent, the series, which launches today, could be seen as a limited project, a one and done investigation, but Danson and showrunner Mike Schur are hoping for more cases.

In the finale episode [Spoilers Alert], Danson’s Charles answers his phone from private investigator Julie, played by Lilah Richcreek Estrada. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but I have another job for you,” she says.

Ted Danson is back with a brand new television show – A Man on the Inside!

The 76-year-old Emmy award-winning actor stars in the new Netflix series, which is based on a true story and the documentary The Mole Agent.

He will play Charles, a retired man who gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a Pi and becomes a mole in a secret investigation.

A Man on the Inside finally has its premiere date. Netflix announced the release of the new spy comedy series with a trailer. The eight episodes will arrive in November.

Ted Danson is picking up an investigative retirement gig in Mike Schur’s new Netflix comedy, “A Man on the Inside.”

In the trailer for “A Man on the Inside,” Charles (Danson) receives a challenge from his daughter, Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), who expresses concern about his retirement lifestyle in the wake of her mother and his wife’s death, saying, “When mom was alive, they lived this big, full life.”

“I’m giving you a challenge — find something that excites you,” she tells her dad, who answers, “It’s a good challenge; I accept.”

Rather quickly, Charles finds an ad for an investigative assistant, with the requirement that the applicant be aged 75-85. He learns the gig is to find a missing family heirloom that has disappeared within a retirement community, and his job is to pretend to be a new resident, all while sharing intel and a suspect...

The show, which Netflix gave a straight-to-series order in March 2023, is based on the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent. The series High Potential has stopped the streaming chart. High Potential is a new detective series starring Kaitlin Olson as a single mom named Morgan who helps solve crimes by rearranging evidence during her work as a cleaner for the police department. Olson is best known for her work playing Dee Reynolds on the beloved comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In addition to Olson, High Potential features a leading cast including Javicia Leslie, Daniel Sunjata, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes.

As per Variety, High Potential topped the streaming chart upon its debut.

Ten years ago, Jennifer Kent’s “The Babadook” opened a vein by exposing the dark side of motherhood from the mother’s perspective. In its wake, films expressing ambivalence — or even outright hostility — about childbearing have gone from taboo to a subgenre unto themselves. “Nightbitch,” based on the novel of the same name by Rachel Yoder, is very much part of this nascent tradition.

The premise is pure midnight movie: An unnamed woman (Amy Adams), who’s paused her career as an artist for the stay-at-home suburban mom life she thought she wanted for herself, starts experiencing strange symptoms. First, a patch of fur appears on her lower back; then, she grows a tail. Neighborhood dogs start coming up to her at the playground and showing up on her porch, beckoning her out into the night. The next project at Netflix for David Fincher has reportedly been revealed. It's the newest project made for the streamer by Fincher after previously working on titles like Mindhunter, Mank, and The Killer.

Per What's On Netflix, Fincher is next set to direct Bitterroot, a Western movie originally titled as Big Hole. The screenplay, by Michael Gilio, was initially featured as part of the 2008 Black List. There have been previous attempts to get the film made after the screenplay drew high praise, and Gilio was planning to direct at one point. For whatever reason, the project has stalled in development hell ever since, but it would seem the team-up of Fincher and Netflix will be what finally gets Bitterroot made.

The film follows a woman (Adams) who puts her career on pause and becomes a stay-at-home mom, but extreme stress forces her into thinking she's turning into a dog. In addition to Adams, McNairy, and Chao, Jessica Harper, Mary Holland, Kerry O'Malley, and Ella Thomas will also star in the film, which will release in theaters this December, but does not yet have an official release date.

Nightbitch's first trailer has arrived, unveiling a new look at the Amy Adams horror-comedy.
