- His cousin, Virginia O'Hanlon, is the subject of the famous editorial, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus".
- Suffered a second stroke while in a recording session for Jetsons: The Movie (1990). He was rushed to the hospital after being resuscitated by paramedics where he died later that day. The film was dedicated to him, along with co-star Mel Blanc, who died later the same year.
