Sandra Bullock’s Cult-Classic Is Ruling Disney+ and It’s Primed for a Sequel Now
Image
Sandra Bullock doesn’t have a shortage of masterpieces in her filmography, but nothing can come close to the cult-classic phenomenon of The Proposal. Released in 2009, the seemingly generic rom-com stars Bullock and Ryan Reynolds as the leading couple destined to fall in love against comical odds.

The film, despite its simple and unoriginal premise, refuses to be anything but wildly hilarious, spectacular, and a visual treat for the audience. It helped rake in a staggering $314.7 million against a humble budget of only $40 million (The Numbers). Over the years, its cult-classic status has made the fans go back to it time and again to rewatch The Proposal like a staple comfort film.

American Horror Story's fate isn't determined beyond season 13
Image
Disney TV’s studio head has offered an update on the future of American Horror Story. In an interview with Deadline, Eric Schrier gave an update on life after season 13 of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology series.

He admitted that the network doesn't "have another incarnation of American Horror Story ordered" at the moment, but they would be up for it if “Ryan has an idea that is great.” American Horror Story ran for 12 seasons between 2011 and 2024, with AHS season 13 on the way next year. Over the years, the show has covered haunted houses and hotels, aliens, witch covens, and cults.

Although there is no season 14 on the cards for AHS, Schrier has left the door open for the creator to return with new concepts. "It's a franchise that, by design, can always be rebooted. And so when Ryan has an idea that is great and can figure...

Everything We Know About ‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 & What We Want to See in the “Final” Season
Image
There’s at least one more season of American Horror Story on the horizon and details about the upcoming Season 13 are starting to come in.

It’s difficult for any television series to sustain itself for a dozen seasons, but American Horror Story has experienced a particularly fascinating trajectory that’s often more chaotic than it is creative. Regardless of one’s opinion on American Horror Story – its current state or the series in general – there’s no denying that it ushered in a new wave of anthology storytelling that’s still popular a decade later. There’s been an increasingly blasé approach to American Horror Story seasons that it’s sometimes easy to forget about the tremendous pomp and circumstance that surrounded the early seasons and how each year’s theme would be teased and revealed like a major event. American Horror Story’s production and promotion has become more perfunctory,...

Naomi Watts' Mountain Rescue Film Becomes a Global Success on Netflix Amid Mixed Reviews
Image
The Netflix charts prove once more that many movies have a second chance on streaming. In 2022, Naomi Watts starred in a mountain rescue adventure film that wasn't a big hit, but it's now on the global charts.

Streaming has facilitated users with new releases straight on the platform, as well as a series of older, licensed films. Some of them didn't get a chance to become hits during their theatrical releases or didn't have a wide release, just like Naomi Watts' Infinite Storm. Three years after its release, Infinite Storm reached the global charts on Netflix, per Tudum.

Naomi Watts' adventure filmInfinite Storm has just premiered on Netflix, and it has already drawn a lot of attention. The movie premiered in the global charts in ninth place with 4.8 million views and 7.9 million hours viewed.

The adventure film is not available to stream on Netflix in the U.S., but it's streaming on Hulu.

When word of The Boroughs, a new series produced by Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers, first got out more than two years ago, the supernatural/horror drama was referred to as “Stranger Things at a retirement home.”

At the streamer’s Next on Netflix 2025 slate presentation Wednesday, the Duffers made the connection themselves, revealing for the first time that, like their Stranger Things counterparts, the characters in The Burroughs also will be battling “otherworldly evil.”

The Duffers made the comments while speaking about two upcoming series from their Upside Down Pictures, The Boroughs and Something Very Bad is Going to Happen.

“Of the two projects, The Boroughs probably shares the most DNA with Stranger Things because it’s about a group of misfits who fight an otherworldly evil,” Matt Duffer said. “Only unlike Stranger Things, it...

Ryan Reynolds' The Proposal is Now a Streaming Hit on Disney+
Image
After being mostly unheard of for years, Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullocks 2009 rom-com The Proposal is suddenly a hit on Disney+s global chart. Although the title has been available across multiple platforms which in the U.S. include Hulu, Freevee, Prime Video and several others in many countries, the film has been getting a helpful push by Disney+ for one reason; to catch the wave of attention Reynolds is about to generate on the platform with Deadpool & Wolverines imminent arrival.

For those who saw Deadpool & Wolverine in cinemas, or on PVOD services, you will remember that The Proposal received a hilarious name-check by that lovely version of Deadpool with the long, flowing hair and the mushy and nice personality right before he was brutally slaughtered - oh, sorry Peanut, spoilers. The same joke also made fun of the self-referencing fourth wall breaking humor that the Marvel motor mouth has become known for,...

Ryan Murphy Considering Bringing Og ‘American Horror Story’ Cast Back for Season 13
Image
Ryan Murphy certainly has his executive-producer hands full — his shows Monsters, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, American Horror Stories, American Sports Story, Doctor Odyssey, and Grotesquerie have all launched new seasons in recent weeks. But where’s the next American Horror Story season? Fall 2024 is only the second AHS-less fall since the FX show’s 2011 premiere. Season 12, dubbed Delicate, ended in April, and there’s no airdate for a 13th season. Scream not, horror fans. Murphy and FX chairman John Landgraf assure fans that Season 13 is coming, and it might involve a big cast reunion. Murphy tells Variety he hasn’t “really landed” on the Season 13 idea yet, though there’s “a couple things in contention.” And, he says, he often thinks of “the original gangster cast,” i.e. Season 1 stars Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Denis O’Hare, and Jessica Lange. American Horror Story: How Ma Petite's Death Changed Season 4 Completely
Image
American Horror Story season 4, Freak Show, was arguably one of the more light-hearted seasons of the long-running horror anthology series, but Ma Petite's death shifted the season's tone dramatically. Freak Show was very highly rated and noted for having a departure in theme from the previous three seasons, focusing more on familial loyalty and togetherness along with the importance of finding one's tribe. This tone was best exemplified by the character of Ma Petite and it was brutally shattered by her death.

Drawing from true stories of real sideshows and circus performers, such as P.T. Barnum's "Greatest Show On Earth", Freak Show followed Elsa Mars (Lange) as the leader of a similar sideshow; Mars was an aspiring actress who ended up transitioning to the circus, where she performed as a chanteuse. While not always maternal toward all of her 'freaks', Elsa took a shine to some of those...

Stranger Things creators line up all-star cast for retirement home supernatural drama The Boroughs
Image
Matt and Ross Duffer struck gold when they created the supernatural drama Stranger Things for Netflix. That series is set in the 1980s, a period the Duffers are clearly enamored with. The show is coming to an end with a final season to air hopefully next year, but the brothers have other irons in the fire, including a new Netflix show called The Boroughs.

The Duffers will only be involved in a producing capacity; showrunning duties will fall to Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, the guys behind the canceled-too-soon series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Ben Taylor will direct several episodes including the pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But I still see the Duffers' fingerprints all over this show, which is about "a group of unlikely heroes" living in a retirement community who must "band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don't have — time.
