Adam Scottis getting the flowers he's always deserved for his work on the Apple TV+ series Severance. He's currently doing a series of interviews for his Emmy nomination for playing Mark Scout on the show. While it is beautiful to see Scott being recognized, it is something that fans of his television work have been saying for years. They wanted him nominated for a long run of great comedies, so now that Severance is a hit, he's getting the praise he's deserved for shows like Party Down and Parks and Recreation.
So, naturally, while talking about his Emmy nomination, he was asked about his other work. One such interview with Entertainment Weekly brought up a very important question: Who on Parks and Recreation would deserve their own spin-off? With shows like The Paper coming out – which is the spin-off of The Officethat Parks and Recreation was originally designed to be...

Next week, a new era of comedy will be unleashed as the highly anticipated spin-off from The Office — titled The Paper and featuring Oscar Nuñez in the cast — will premiere on Peacock. With such an important comedy series making a comeback, wouldn't it be the perfect opportunity to bring its "sister" series Parks and Recreation to return as well? Severance star Adam Scott seems to think so. During a participation on the Entertainment Weekly podcast, the actor talked about his unique idea for a Parks & Rec spin-off.
When he was asked about a character that he'd like to revisit, Scott had an immediate answer ready. Not only that, the Parks and Recreation alumnus had a full premise of what could be the new series' starting point — and it would make perfect sense in the universe of the series if you think about it for a couple of seconds. So,...

Long before his success with the Apple TV+ series,Severance, Adam Scott had a role inParks and Recreation. The acor recentrlt revealed who he thinks should lead a potential spinoff series.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Scott was asked which Parks and Recreation character he would choose to center a spinoff around. "Probably Jerry [portrayed by Jim O'Heir]," the actor said. "I think because when we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee. I'd like to see how that worked out, if there were any scandals, or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run."
O'Heir portrayed the lovable Garry "Jerry" Gergich on Parks and Recreation from the series' pilot episode. The character was an optimistic and kind-hearted employee of the Department of Parks and Recreation in Pawnee, Indiana. Despite his longstanding presence and positive demeanor, Jerry...

For Adam Scott, Parks and Recreation‘s 2015 series finale left the door open to several spinoff stories. During a recent appearance on Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast, Scott revealed which resident of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, he would like to see return to the small screen. “Probably Jerry,” he shared, referring to Jim O’Heir‘s character. “When we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee,” Scott recalled. “I’d like to see how that worked out, like, if there were any scandals or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run. I feel like Jerry would have done a terrific job.” Scott even said that Aziz Ansari‘s character, Tom Haverford, would also “be a good one to check in with.” As fans remember, the Parks and Recreation series finale featured...

I'm not breaking new ground when I say that Adam Scott is excellent on "Severance." This isn't a hot take; it's decidedly room-temperature. Technically, Scott plays two characters on Dan Erickson's twisted take on a "workplace comedy," even though they are the same person: Mark Scout, a miserable man who lost his wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman) in a tragic car accident, and to deal with his overwhelming grief, who takes a job at Lumon Industries that offers a procedure called "severance" that splits his consciousness into two distinct parts. When he leaves work, he's stuck being plain old Mark Scout, but at work, on the "severed" floor, he's Mark S., a willing acolyte of Lumon who has no idea that he ever had a wife, let alone lost one.

The existence of the project has been teased throughout Poehler’s podcast “Good Hang” and now, finally, its trailer is out. The tagline reads: “Philadelphia has never been more in need of justice.”

This character may have been the constant punchline in Parks and Rec but behind the scenes, things weren’t quite as they seemed. Known for his clumsy mishaps, unfortunate timing, and an endless list of wrong names, he was the well-meaning but endlessly mocked employee of Pawnee’s Parks department. Yes, we are talking about Jerry Gergich, played by Jim O’Heir.
While viewers laughed along with the jokes, some cast members occasionally felt the humor pushed the envelope, particularly Chris Pratt. In his memoir, O’Heir shared some behind-the-scenes stories that will melt your heart.

Parks and Recreation is the beloved TV show about a group of small-town government workers who are kind, thoughtful and dedicated to treating their affable co-worker like literal trash for no good reason.

Among the most popular stars working in the entertainment industry, Sebastian Stan has had huge success as an actor who can shine in both movies and television, as well as deliver wonderful performances that showcase the range of this performer. Moreover, many comic book fans will assuredly recognize this artist thanks to his turn as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the MCU, although, despite garnering praise for the role, Sebastian Stan has always been making great works of art outside the MCU.
Specifically, the actor’s eclectic career reveals an artist who not only tries to make great television shows but also wants to redefine the landscape of cinema with each new film project. At the same time, Sebastian Stan has proven time and again why he should be recognized as more than a blockbuster star and instead should be viewed as a committed actor who excels at any genre or filmmaking scale.

Adam Scott may have a new office job now, but he’s missing his time at Pawnee City Hall. The actor is currently starring in season 2 of Apple TV+’s hit show Severance. The series is only in its second season and the momentum continues to roll. Our own Alex Maidy gave season 2 a perfect 10 score when he said in his review, “The cast is exceptional, and the direction, led by Ben Stiller doing the best work of his career, improves on what came before it. This is such a rich world that has deepened what the audience knows without sacrificing any quality along the way. Each episode is full of character development that makes you care deeply about what happens to each member of the Mdr team and even gives reasons to care about the antagonists as well.”

Adam Scott may have traded his Cones of Dunshire skills for Macro Data Refinement, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about Pawnee.
In an interview for Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast promoting the second season of Apple TV+’s Severance, the two-time Emmy nominee reflected on his comedic roots, including his time on the beloved NBC mockumentary Parks and Recreation.
“I haven’t seen the show in a long time,” Scott said after Horowitz played a clip of character Ben Wyatt’s much-memed “Do you think a depressed person could make this?” scene. “Honestly because it makes me sad to see the show, because I miss them and I miss all the actors even though we’re constantly in touch and stuff, but I miss the time of making it.”

While it may seem like every beloved sitcom of yesteryear is getting a new reboot/revival, the same can't be said for Parks and Recreation, as one of the show's stars, Adam Scott, revealed why we'll probably never return to Pawnee in the future. Scott, who currently stars in the hit Apple TV+ series Severance, is also best known for playing the lovable nerd, Ben Wyatt, in NBC's long-running sitcom. Ben was introduced in the show's second season (alongside Rob Lowe's Chris Traeger) to come in and slash the Pawnee government's budget before moving on. But, after falling in love with the town, and Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope, he decided to stay and became a mainstay of the series until its finale in 2015.

While Aubrey Plaza is known to the world for her unique mix of madcap and deadpan humor, it was her Parks and Recreation co-star Adam Scott who was terrified of the star. Well, apparently, after Scott struggled to join the show, and eventually landed his first table read, Plaza gave him a note that scared the life out of the actor.

Although Adam Scott was well aware of Aubrey Plaza’s penchant for pranks, her fold-up note and the message in it left him intimidated on his very first day. According to Scott’s comments via Jim O’Heir’s book Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation, the actor noted receiving a note of warning from Plaza even before he could have shot his first scene.

Chris Pratt used to step in and get protective of his “Parks and Recreation” co-star Jim O’Heir when jokes at his character Jerry’s expense got too “mean-spirited.”
Speaking jointly in a conversation published as part of O’Heir’s new Hollywood memoir, “Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and ‘Parks and Recreation,'” the two actors remembered a dynamic that saw Pratt speaking up when he thought some of the NBC sitcom’s jokes were more cruel than comical.
“I was concerned in some of those moments because I care about you and I love you, and I knew that there were some jokes that were, like, mean. But meaner than they were funny,” Pratt told O’Heir.

Parks and Recreation is arguably one of the most wholesome shows from NBC's phenomenal 2009-2013 sitcom era. The show starred Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, the overly-optimistic deputy manager of the Pawnee city council's Parks and Recreation department. While the show is full of feel-good moments, one character is the butt of a good portion of the jokes. And, Chris Pratt (who played the lovable Andy Dwyer in the show) would often have to defend the character, and the actor that played them.
Jim O'Heir, who played Jerry Gergeich in Parks and Rec, detailed Pratt's valiant behavior in his new book, Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation. In it, he included a conversation with Pratt, where the pair discussed some of the harsher jokes leveled towards Jerry Gergeich on the show, including many that didn't make it in. Chris Pratt has revealed that he objected to a series of running jokes on Parks and Recreation. The Marvel star even once “put [his] foot down” over “mean” jabs at the character Garry "Jerry" Gergich's expense.
Jim O'Heir’s kind-hearted character Jerry was frequently called out for his ineptitude by his Pawnee co-workers, whether he was actually to blame for a gaffe or not. Adam Scott, star of Apple TV’s Severance, had an interesting first encounter with Aubrey Plaza when he joined the cast of Parks and Recreation.
Scott joined the show along with Rob Lowe (who is the lead on of 9-1-1: Lone Star) towards the end of the second season. Both stars joined at a point where the writers improved their handling of the characters and seeing the show's identity among a string of The Office-like mockumentaries. Joining the show at this pivotal point in its history, the two could have easily been rejected as outsiders; Scott, though, recalls a haunting moment shared with Plaza that made him feel disturbed and at home.

The NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation holds a special place in Jim O'Heir's heart. After so many episodes playing the lovable Jerry Gergich, the actor loves the show as much as its legions of fans. He's putting all that love and plenty of behind-the-scenes anecdotes on paper in Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles and Parks & Recreation, which is on bookstore shelves (and digital bookstore shelves) now.
In an interview with Cbr, O'Heir explains how he started writing a Parks & Recreation book (it wasn't his idea) and what it was like to go from actor to writer. He also discussed the joys of sharing memories with fellow castmates like Chris Pratt as they looked back on all seven seasons of the show. While NBC's political satire sitcom Parks and Recreation has become a staple of modern media and a comfort rewatch for audiences of all generations, it wasn't always such a hit. In a brand-new book commemorating the glory days of Pawnee, Andy Dwyer actor Chris Pratt recalls the drastic and often destructive measures he took in order to prevent the show's cancellation involving surprisingly in-character decisions.
The idea of becoming the prop department's worst nightmare wasn't a Chris Pratt original, however, as Parks and Recreation actor and longtime comedian Jim O'Heir reveals in Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation. "You have to remember, the show was always on the bubble, it felt like we were fighting for our jobs," Pratt describes in the book, "[such] that my friend just told me, 'You just have to go in there and start breaking s---. When it comes to comfort television, no show quite captures the warm and fuzzy feelings better than Parks and Recreation, and former star Jim O’Heir is delivering those nostalgic vibes in spades with his new book, Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation. “I never thought about writing a book,” the actor known fondly as Jerry, Garry, Larry, Terry, etc. admits to TV Insider. Jim O’Heir couldn’t figure out why a publisher would want Jerry Gergich to share his Parks and Recreation adventures, but let me tell you, the guy’s one hell of a storyteller. One of the most beloved Santa Claus movies in modern cinema, The Santa Clause tells the fantastical story of Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) reluctantly becoming Santa Claus after accidentally knocking the former Santa off the roof of his house on Christmas Eve. Scott attempts to go about his normal life as a business person, until the following Christmas, when he decides to fully embrace the role of Santa Claus. He happily fills this role from the time of the original movie through the events of the recent show The Santa Clauses.

While the pilot of a TV show is the natural place to start, for some titles, there is a much better episode to begin with. For many, there is an episode of a particular show that is widely believed to be a better point to start watching, whether thats through introducing a new viewer or during a rewatch. These are often TV episodes that define their show forever and can be considered an alternative pilot or simply a good story that contains enough exposition to explain the themes and characters, especially to someone who has never seen it before.
This doesnt mean that the pilot is bad, however. In fact, even some of the best TV shows of all time have an episode like this. For long-running TV shows, its not unusual for earlier seasons to be a little flat or for them to need improvement, so an episode like...

Steven Soderbergh's 2017 heist comedy Logan Lucky has found a new life on Netflix. Updated: Social media almost got what it wanted out of Steve Martin.
After chatter on Threads escalated, SNL boss Lorne Michaels today ended up calling the Only Murders in the Building star about impersonating Tim Walz, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Sadly, the veteran comic and former SNL mainstay said no.
“I wanted to say no and, by the way, he wanted me to say no,” Martin told the paper. “I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy.’ I was picked because I have gray hair and glasses.”
Martin added that such a commitment requires, well, a commitment to the NBC show. “It’s ongoing,” Martin continued with the Times. “It’s not like you do it once and get applause and never do it again. Again, they need a real impressionist to do that. They’re gonna find somebody really,...

Steve Martin has turned down the chance to play Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz on Saturday Night Live.
The Los Angeles Times reported that SNL boss Lorne Michaels offered him the role, but Martin politely declined.
“I wanted to say no and, by the way, he wanted me to say no,” Martin told the L.A. Times. “I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy.’ I was picked because I have gray hair and glasses.”
He also spoke about the time commitment such a gig would involve. (Alec Baldwin ended up playing Donald Trump on SNL for several years after first taking on the role before the 2016 election.)

Well, they both have white hair. That seems to be all it takes for Saturday Night Live fans like Lost’s Damon Lindelof to suggest Steve Martin as the perfect comic to play vice presidential candidate Tim Walz to Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris.
Martin, who has appeared on SNL a jaw-dropping 35 times including 16 hosting stints over the years, is a surefire bet to show up at least once during Season 50. Will he suit up as Walz? Or will Walz take over as Steve Martin?
“I just learned that Tim Walz wants to go on the road with Marty Short,” Martin joked last night on his Threads account.
It’s not crazy to think that Martin could get drafted to play the political personality. Lorne Michaels has brought in non-cast members to play politicos plenty of times before, from Rudolph to Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump to Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin.
