Watch the Trailer for Legions: "XYZ Films is proud to launch the trailer to Fabián Forte's Legions, which will land on North American VOD January 19th following an acclaimed festival run that included Sitges, Fantasia, and Fantaspoa. An unabashed love letter to Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series, this gory, hilarious, and heartwarming horror gem is the perfect way to start your 2023!

Prolific Argentinian filmmaker Fabián Forte’s newest film combines the best of his previous cinematic endeavors: the comedic writing and direction of his 2016 hit Dead Man Tells His OWN Tale is masterfully mixed with mystical horror of 2017's Terrified - which Forte contributed to - and once you add a dash of slapstick gore and a whole lot of heart, and you have Legions of fun!

Seth Rogen’s ‘An American Pickle’ on HBO Max Releases First Trailer (Watch)
Image
HBO Max has revealed the first trailer for “An American Pickle,” an upcoming comedy starring Seth Rogen set to premiere on the platform on Aug. 6.

Directed by his frequent collaborator Brandon Trost, Rogen plays Herschel Greenbaum, a Polish ditch digger who immigrates to the U.S. in 1920 to fulfill his American dream. Herschel finds work at a pickle factory, only to fall into a vat of brine, putting him into suspended animation.

A century later, Herschel emerges from the brine in 2020, fully preserved. Although all of his immediate family members have died, Herschel is able to locate his great-grandson, Ben — who is also played by Rogen.

The two struggle to relate to each other in terms of family values, music and culture, with Herschel even pointing to a poster of David Bowie on Ben’s wall and asking, “Is this your father?” Still, Ben helps Herschel adapt to the 21st century,...

Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen in Knocked Up (2007)
Seth Rogen's An American Pickle Goes Straight to Streaming on HBO Max This Summer
Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen in Knocked Up (2007)
It has been almost two years now since news first spread about Knocked Up and Long Shot star Seth Rogen's bizarre-sounding, pickle-related comedy. Even for a Rogen centered comedy, the plot is pretty out there. Well, it has now found a home, and, since movie theaters are still currently under mass closures at the moment, Sony Pictures has sold the movie to HBO with HBO now planning to debut the movie on its upcoming streaming service HBO Max this summer, though a release date is not confirmed. The announcement comes straight from Rogen himself, who also took the opportunity to drop the movie's delightful title: An American Pickle.

"Couldn't be more thrilled that my next film "An American Pickle" will be on HBO Max this summer. I can't wait for you all to see it, but here's a taste! Get it?!?!"

Clearly the puns are going to come thick and fast.

Law & Order: Svu Season 20 Episode 11 Review: Plastic
Big name guest stars don't always lead to great stories.

Sometimes they're just there to attract viewers without offering a solid story.

But Law & Order: Svu Season 20 Episode 11 wasn't like that. Royal Pains alum Mark Feuerstein again played a doctor -- this time a creepy and unempathetic one, and the result was a riveting hour of television.

The scariest thing about Feuerstein's Heath Barron was that he believed everything he was saying.

He continually said inappropriate things and tried to come onto Rollins, all while thinking he was doing something positive for humankind by making fantasies come true.

I did not doubt that he believed his encounter with Ava was consensual, and she just had buyer's remorse in the morning even though it was obvious she was suffering.

Seth Rogen is nearly finished putting together the cast for his new Sony comedy, as Molly Evensen, Eliot Glazer, Kalen Allen, Kevin O'Rourke and Succession star Sarah Snook have joined the ensemble, Collider has exclusively learned. Cinematographer Brandon Trost, who has shot several Rogen movies including Neighbors and This Is the End, will make his feature directorial debut with the so-called Pickle picture, which Rogen is producing alongside Evan Goldberg and James Weaver via their Point Grey banner. Simon Rich wrote the screenplay, based on his own New Yorker novella. Rich will also executive produce with Alexandria McAtee. […...

Lauren Ashley Carter in Official Trailer for Indie Sci-Fi 'Imitation Girl'
"I'm looking for a traveling companion." Epic Pictures Releasing has unveiled the first official trailer for a "mind-bending", psychological sci-fi thriller titled Imitation Girl, made by writer and director Natasha Kermani. Imitation Girl stars Lauren Ashley Carter (seen in the films Darling, King Rat) as a wandering space alien who lands in the middle of the New Mexico desert and takes on the form of another woman (hence the imitation). Her counterpart is a former concert pianist living in New York City. Eventually their paths will cross, as an exploration of two lost souls. The cast includes Neimah Djourabchi, Adam David Thompson, Catherine Mary Stewart, Stefanie Woodburn, Sanam Erfani, and Kevin O'Rourke. This looks a bit too bland for my tastes. Not enough real, edgy sci-fi, just some ideas but nothing tangible. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Natasha Kermani's Imitation Girl, direct from YouTube: When an alien...

Academy Awards Film Series: Scorsese's Spielbergian Biopic Comes Crashing Down Each Time After Take-Off
'The Aviator' movie with Leonardo DiCaprio as bizarre billionaire Howard Hughes: Bloated biopic. 'The Aviator' movie review: What's not good for the Spruce Goose… Imagine Citizen Kane directed by the Steven Spielberg of The Color Purple, Schindler's List, Amistad, and Saving Private Ryan. The final result would look something like a Barry Levinson film – for instance, the superficial and phony Bugsy. Or, an even more appropriate example, the superficial, phony, and bloated The Aviator. Except, of course, that Levinson is not the man responsible for the 2004 mega-production starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the eccentric, billionaire ladies' man Howard Hughes. Strangely enough, that man is Martin Scorsese, the director of hard-hitting films such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, and Gangs of New York. Scorsese, a fan of Old Hollywood, apparently wanted to have some fun with the reported $110 million budget (approx. $138 million in 2016) made available to him. The director no doubt had a ball while making The Aviator,...

Howard Hughes movies (photo: Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes in 'The Aviator') Turner Classic Movies will be showing the Howard Hughes-produced, John Farrow-directed, Baja California-set gangster drama His Kind of Woman, starring Robert Mitchum, Hughes discovery Jane Russell, and Vincent Price, at 3 a.m. Pt / 6 a.m. Et on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Hughes produced a couple of dozen movies. (More on that below.) But what about "Howard Hughes movies"? Or rather, movies -- whether big-screen or made-for-television efforts -- featuring the visionary, eccentric, hypochondriac, compulsive-obsessive, all-American billionaire as a character? Besides Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays a dashing if somewhat unbalanced Hughes in Martin Scorsese's 2004 Best Picture Academy Award-nominated The Aviator, other actors who have played Howard Hughes on film include the following: Tommy Lee Jones in William A. Graham's television movie The Amazing Howard Hughes (1977), with Lee Purcell as silent film star Billie Dove, Tovah Feldshuh as Katharine Hepburn,...

Fans of classic movies know that "Woman of the Year" marks the beginning of the 25-year partnership, on- and off-screen, between one of film's most beloved and enduring couples: Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. Released 70 years ago today (on January 19, 1942), "Woman of the Year" came to define combustible romantic chemistry, thanks to the two fiery, evenly-matched leads. It launched a partnership that lasted until Tracy's death in 1967, a quarter-century union that resulted in nine films and an extramarital affair that was Hollywood's worst kept secret. What fans may not know is how the partnership came to be, who the real-life inspirations were for Hepburn's high-minded columnist and Tracy's earthy sportswriter, or the forgotten screen pairing of the two stars that came four years earlier. Read on for the untold story of "Woman of the Year" and its long afterlife in the realms of Broadway, TV, and magazines. 1. "Woman of the Year...
