Sometimes the wrong choices bring us to the right places. This actually hits harder, especially when you realize Jensen Ackles, the gruff-yet-golden icon of Supernatural, almost ended up romancing corpses on Fox’s series Tru Calling. Yes, before embodying Jason Teague in Smallville, Ackles had a near miss with a show that scored a frigid 39% on Rotten Tomatoes.

For those who are not aware, Tru Calling is a supernatural drama starring Eliza Dushku, where cadavers whisper secrets and time rewinds like a rejected mixtape. So why did Ackles skip a love story with Dushku for football fields and Kryptonian crystals in Smallville? Who made the final call? Here’s the whole story!

Not Another Teen Movie Cast: Where The Actors Are Now
Image
When "Not Another Teen Movie" hit theaters late in 2001, it was riding the wave of two convergent genre booms. First, there was the burgeoning spoof craze that had been kicked off the year before by "Scary Movie." The 2000s would be full of them, eventually petering out late in the decade with low-effort flops like "Meet the Spartans," "Vampires Suck," and "Epic Movie." Second, "Not Another Teen Movie" benefited from taking aim at years of teen comedies that had overtaken the box office. The movie parodies '90s favorites like "She's All That," "American Pie," and "10 Things I Hate About You," and it even finds time to reference earlier teen movies like "Pretty in Pink" and "The Breakfast Club." (After all, everything takes place at John Hughes High School).

Unlike many 2000s spoof movies, most of which were forgotten as quickly as they premiered, "Not Another Teen Movie" has had some immense cultural staying power.

Chris O’Donnell on the ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Movie That Almost Happened: “It was tough to leave…”
Image
Chris O’Donnell, who portrayed Special Agent G. Callen on NCIS: Los Angeles, has spoken about the show’s conclusion and the plans for a movie that never came to fruition. In an interview with TV Line, he expressed that leaving the series was challenging, especially with the idea of a potential film lingering.

The series, which ran for 14 seasons, had built a strong fan base, and the prospect of a movie was an exciting possibility for both the cast and viewers. However, despite the enthusiasm, the movie did not materialize, leaving O’Donnell and fans to bid farewell to the characters without that final cinematic chapter.

“We Suggested It”: ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Star Chris O’Donnell Says He Attempted To Save the Beloved Spin-Off
Image
Chris O’Donnellis returning to the procedural landscape, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t regretful about his previous ventures. In an interview with TV Line’s Matt Webb Mitovich, the former NCIS: Los Angeles star mentioned efforts to revive the series after its 14-year-long run. In the NCIS spin-off, O'Donnell played G. Callen, the Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles office. The series also starred L.L. Cool J as Sam Hanna and Eric Christian Olsen as Marty Deeks. NCIS: LA had a decent run on CBS, though not quite as long as its predecessor, which concluded its 22nd season. When Mitovich raised the question of a television movie to depict the events following his time on the series, O’Donnell admitted he was on board.

“We suggested it, actually. But I don’t think that formula works real well for CBS,” O’Donnell noted. He added...

Nicolas Cage Reflects on Turning Down Iconic Jim Carrey Comedy 31 Years Later: 'I Made the Right Choice'
Image
Released in 1994, the buddy comedy movie Dumb and Dumber was released in theaters to major success. It earned over $247 million at the box office against a budget of $17 million. It would ultimately become one of the most popular comedies of the era, remaining a favorite film for many filmgoers for both if its lead stars, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

Before Daniels was cast, however, there was a chance that Nicolas Cage could have played the role of Harry Dunne alongside Carrey's Lloyd Christmas. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Cage said Carrey was interested in having him on board as his co-star, but there was one big problem. At the time, Cage was preparing to shoot the revered 1995 film Leaving Las Vegas, leaving him to pick one or the other. Ultimately, he's happy with the call he made.

As Cage said when asked if he ever watched the...

Long before NCIS: Los Angeles, this star played an Oscar-winning role — as an Asian male — in a $10M Mel Gibson film. Yep, seriously. In today’s world, that casting would spark instant outrage.

While Hollywood has evolved, this bizarre choice remains a wild relic of its past. If social media ever got hold of it, the backlash would be brutal.

Exclusive: Screenwriter J S Mayank has been tapped by producers Kate Cohen, Alexander Vesely and Tony Robbins to join Oscar nominee and Bafta winner Lesley Paterson (All Quiet on the Western Front) in writing the feature adaptation of Viktor Frankl‘s classic treatise, Man’s Search for Meaning.

Marshall died last June.

After taking some time to regroup and grieve, the filmmaking team undertook a search for someone to team up with Paterson.

“Finding a writing partner who could understand and support me on this journey while at the same time servicing this masterpiece felt like an impossible ask,” says Paterson. “J S has stepped into this role seamlessly and I’m so honored and relieved to have teamed up with him.

NCIS fans still really miss Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette)
Image
Pauley Perrette left the NCIS cast in 2018, but NCIS fans still miss her.

Pauley was one of the original NCIS fan favorites, playing forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the CBS show from 2003 to 2018.

She brought a unique style and flare to the role and was often showcased as the brains behind solving many cases.

Many NCIS fans were shocked when Pauley left the show at the end of Season 15, and that was exacerbated by the sad storyline where her character said goodbye.

Abby’s final storyline involved MI6 Agent Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) dying as he saved her from a hitman.

NCIS fans hoped she would return after a short absence, but Pauley indicated she wasn’t interested in ever returning.

NCIS: Sydney has bad news for fans about the Season 2 premiere
William McInnes, Olivia Swann, Tuuli Narkle, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, and Mavournee Hazel in NCIS: Sydney (2023)
The NCIS: Sydney season premiere has been postponed by CBS.

The bad news was revealed that a new episode will not arrive on Friday, January 31.

NCIS: Sydney Season 1 episodes have been airing this winter, giving fans a chance to re-watch some of the content from last year.

It also helped serve as a buildup to the second season premiering on January 31.

Unfortunately, CBS has plans for a different show to fill that 8/7c timeslot.

No official announcement has been made, but it could be related to the California wildfires.

CBS previously pulled Fire Country from primetime as the fires raged out of control. It was done out of respect for the people of California. As Fire Country fans already know, the show is about people working for Cal Fire.

Now, an unannounced special will air at 8/7c on Friday, January 31. Stay tuned to learn what CBS does with that timeslot.

NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen loses home in Palisades Fire

Sad news was confirmed by NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen and his family.

The Palisades Fire burned down the home where Eric, his wife Sarah, and their three children had lived.

California has been plagued by wildfires this month. Firefighters continue to battle against the elements to put out those fires.

“Anybody have room for three kids and three dogs? Two of which have to be separated at all times. Also Wyatt’s Lego collection and Esme’s mermaids,” Eric wrote in a post earlier in December.

He couldn’t have known that his worry about a previous fire in the area would give way to something else as January arrived.

At the time, Eric received many kind messages from folks, including his former co-star on NCIS: Los Angeles, Daniela Ruah.
