Dick Capri Dies: Comedian & Broadway Actor Was 93
Image
Dick Capri, the comedian and actor, has died. He was 93.

After spending his final Christmas with his family, Capri succumbed to a bleeding enlarged aorta, dying in his sleep in the early hours of Thursday, Dec. 26 in Florida.

“The world is not as funny today as it was yesterday,” the comedian’s son Jeff told TMZ, explaining that his father knew his time was limited as the aorta was deemed inoperable due to his age.

Spending the holiday with his son, daughter-in-law and life partner, Dick FaceTimed with loved ones out of town and enjoyed a meal from his favorite restaurant before his death.

Born Richard Crupi in Reading, Pennsylvania, Dick began performing stand-up comedy in the ’60s, with appearances on The Merv Griffin Show and The Ed Sullivan Show, before embarking on tour with Englebert Humperdinck in 1973, which took him to Radio City Music Hall and venues across the world.

Image
Whoopi Goldberg will return to one of her most famous roles with Disney officially confirming that Sister Act 3 is now in development. The news comes straight from Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production head Sean Bailey, who revealed that Goldberg will be reprising the role of Deloris Wilson for the upcoming sequel during the Disney Investor Day presentation. Additionally, Goldberg will be serving as a producer alongside the Madea movie series creator Tyler Perry.

There have been rumors swirling for a while about a third Sister Act movie, but not until now has there been any kind of official confirmation. It was reported in 2018 that Regina Hicks (Insecure) and Karin Gist (Star) were working on a screenplay for Sister Act 3 for Disney+, though Disney didn't address the reports at the time. Zac Efron to Star in ‘Three Men and a Baby’ Remake for Disney Plus
Image
Zac Efron will star in a remake of the 1987 hit comedy “Three Men and a Baby” for Disney Plus.

Gordon Gray, whose producing credits include “The Rookie” and Ben Affleck’s “The Way Back,” is producing. Will Reichel has written the script for the remake. A director for the remake has not yet been set.

The original “Three Men and a Baby” starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson as bachelors living a carefree lifestyle and sharing an apartment in New York City. The trio is forced to adjust to parenthood as an infant girl fathered by Danson’s character arrives at their doorstep.

That script, written by Jim Cruickshank and James Orr, was based on the 1985 French film “Trois hommes et un couffin” (“Three Men and a Cradle”). “Three Men and a Baby,” directed by Leonard Nimoy, was a massive success with $240 million in worldwide box office on an $11 million budget.

Steve Guttenberg, Tom Selleck, and Ted Danson in Three Men and a Baby (1987)
Three Men and a Baby Disney+ Remake Moves Forward with Hot Air Writer
Steve Guttenberg, Tom Selleck, and Ted Danson in Three Men and a Baby (1987)
Disney's planned Three Men and a Baby remake for Disney+ is moving forward as screenwriter Will Reichel has reportedly signed on to write the script. Reichel previously wrote Frank Coraci's 2018 drama Hot Air, which starred Steve Coogan, Neve Campbell, and Taylor Russell. That movie follows a conservative radio host whose life completely changes when his teenage niece steps into his life, totally transforming his outlook on the world. That's not too far of a stretch from the concept of Three Men and a Baby, which might have played a role in Reichel getting the job.

The Three Men and a Baby remake was previously revealed as a part of the company's plans for Disney+ back in 2018, though it now seems to be finally gaining some traction after spinning its wheels for the past two years. It had been reported that the House of Mouse was looking to pad its...

Gallery: Man of the House
A slapstick comedy starring Chevy Chase as the long-suffering fiancé of a single mum (Farrah Fawcett), whose son (supposedly cute but pretty brattish to us) doesn't want a new dad. The comic opportunities inherent in such a situation are mostly fluffed by director James Orr, and there's an uncomfortably high level of family bonding. The end product, alas, is for die-hard Chase fans only.

The blogs of my blog
One of my favorite pastimes, especially when I should be doing something else, is moseying around the blogs of my readers. You may have noticed that when the name of a poster is displayed in blue, that means it's a link -- usually to the author's blog, although you might be surprised. Assembled here is a distinctive readership of interesting people, not least because I am vigilant about never posting idiotic or perfunctory comments. A certain civil tone is (usually) maintained, avoiding the plague of flame wars.

More than a year ago, when the blog was somewhat new to me, I wrote: "Your comments have provided me with the best idea of my readers that I have ever had, and you are the readers I have dreamed of. I was writing to you before I was sure you were there. You are thoughtful, engaged, fair, and often the authors of eloquent prose.
