Bird law expert Charlie Kelly never shied away from a battle of legal wits, but after Charlie ducked their high-noon appointment, The Lawyer is itching for his legally entitled satisfaction.
In last night’s new episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, “Mac and Dennis Become EMTs,” The Lawyer, played by longtime Always Sunny fan-favorite Brian Unger, made his long-awaited return to the series after a nearly nine-year absence. Unfortunately for The Lawyer, the downtrodden, one-eyed, Harvard-Law-graduating antagonist to the Gang once again failed to bring down his arch-rival Frank in the court of law, instead picking up some new physical deformations and a 30-day prison sentence.
Shortly before his Always Sunny homecoming, Unger sat down with Cracked and talked about his long relationship both with series creator Rob Mac and the entire Always Sunny operation. Unger answered canon questions and offered his own theory on how his character...

A new look at the assassination of John F. Kennedy is coming to theaters. November 1963, a historical thriller centering around the Mafia figures in Kennedy's orbit, has entered production in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The film will star John Travolta, and is helmed by two-time Oscar nominee Roland Joffé (The Killing Fields). The film is based on firsthand accounts and reports from the family of Sam Giancana, the contemporary head of the Chicago Outfit; Giancana had ties to Kennedy's family, even as Kennedy's brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, took on the Mafia. Giancana is widely rumored to have been involved with Kennedy's assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963; Giancana was murdered in his suburban Chicago home by an unknown assassin in 1975.
The film is written and produced by Nicholas Celozzi, who is the grandnephew of Giancana. Says Celozzi, "The whole essence of the story, the project, why we are doing this,...

Newly released documents have revealed that a CIA operative, George Joannides, who has a history in psychological warfare, sought out Lee Harvey Oswald in the months before the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Following Kennedy’s death, Joannides supposedly ran interference against the congressional investigators who suspected Oswald’s connection to the killing.
Previous record releases have shown Oswald’s ties to Russia.
Outspoken Marxist activist Oswald assassinated Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In court, Oswald claimed he hadn’t acted alone, but was instead a “patsy” for those truly responsible for the killing. In September 1964, the Warren Commission concluded that Oswald had acted alone, although this ruling has remained controversial throughout the years.
Before the assassination, Joannides, who was deputy chief of the CIA’s Miami branch and in charge of “all aspects of political action and psychological warfare,” played a significant role in the support and direction of student groups against Fidel Castro.

Despite being around almost since the beginning of the streaming era of television, Hulu often gets lost in the shadow of its baby sibling Disney+. While the latter streamer has buzzy shows from Marvel Studios, the "Star Wars" universe, and the expanded Disney canon, Hulu is deprived of such buzz.
Viewers may be aware of some of Hulu's most popular originals -- "Only Murders in the Building" and "The Handmaid's Tale," to name a few. They may have come across "Paradise" (a new political thriller that might help revive the genre) or even the Academy Award-winning "Anora" on the platform as well. But buried underneath these familiar titles is a full library of underrated TV shows, begging to be rediscovered and enjoyed during your next binge-fest. So before you start another rewatch of "American Horror Story" or "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," take a look below to find the hidden gems in Hulu's back catalog.

This is a list of films about America. I got the idea for the list after watching The Brutalist, and then hearing Ray Charles’s America, the Beautiful playing somewhere. These ten films were chosen from a bigger list of 25 films, and each film presents a distinct critical viewpoint on an aspect, or aspects, of the American experiment. Six of the films are set in their respective presents, whereas the other 4 depict a recent past. Both forms of social commentary are worthwhile and thought-provoking. No matter the time period they explore, every film is a product of the moment in which it was created, meaning that a movie released in 2002 and set in 1955 is just as much about 2002 as it is about 1955.
The films have been placed in chronological order of release, but their subject matter spans the America of 1898 to the America of the 2010s. These are not the ten best films about America,...

November 22, 1963, is one of the darkest days in the history of America. It was the day when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and the tragedy altered the course of U.S. and world history and changed the American political landscape. His death in Dallas has generated many official investigations as well as serious public debates about the actual events of that day.
The official account that accuses lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald of the assassination still remains in doubt. Even the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations believed that Kennedy was likely killed as a result of a conspiracy involving multiple shooters. Research documents about the death remain classified decades after the event, leading to constant public curiosity about the JFK assassination.

Richard Langley (Dean Haglund), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood), and John Fitzgerald Byers (Bruce Harwood) -- collectively known as the Lone Gunmen -- first appeared in the episode of "The X-Files" called "E.B.E.". They were a trio of very, very intense nerds who spent their days looking into conspiracy theories, often finding (specious) evidence for their existence. Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) also investigated conspiracies, and would occasionally turn to the Lone Gunmen to give his investigations credibility. The Gunmen, however, were comic relief characters, presented as an over-the-top counterpart to Mulder. No matter how wild Mulder got with his talk of aliens, monsters, and government cover-ups, the Gunmen outstripped him in paranoia and conspiratorial hypotheses.
The Gunmen appeared in 40 episodes of "The X-Files" overall (including in the weird latter-day revival seasons), and many fans loved them. They were a whimsical warning of what Fox Mulder might become, if he...

Oliver Stone on Tuesday called for the reopening of the investigation into the assassination of John F. Kennedy, as the director noted the impact that his 1991 movie JFK had on the release of records.
“I ask the committee to reopen what the Warren Commission failed miserably to complete,” Stone told lawmakers today as he testified before a House Oversight Committee task force.
“I ask you, in good faith, outside all political considerations, to reinvestigate the assassination of this President Kennedy from the scene of the crime to the courtroom, which never happened, but which means the chain of custody on the rifle, the bullets, the fingerprints, the autopsy that defies belief, and that if it were a murder, we’d have given the poorest man dying in the gutter. Let us reinvestigate the fingerprints of intelligence all over Lee Harvey Oswald from 1959 to his violent death in 1963. And most importantly,...

Director Oliver Stone's controversial (and in no way historically accurate) 1991 blockbuster film, JFK, painted a conspiracy-theory-laden picture of what happened to 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy. And now, Stone is set to testify at a U.S. House of Representatives hearing regarding thousands of pages of newly released documents related to the 1963 assassination that shook the nation and the world.
In a report from Reuters, it was revealed that Stone will testify alongside journalist and author Jefferson Morley, as well as author James Dieugenio, all considered "experts" to varying degrees, with varying opinions on the matter to boot. The event will be livestreamed on the GOP Oversight YouTube page (which we've included below). Representative Anna Paulina Luna, chair of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, said on Sunday that lawmakers will hear from the aforementioned witnesses about the level of public importance that documents contain.

The latest release of secret government files relating to former President John F. Kennedy‘s death has many people excited. It is unclear how much material is new; many documents have previously been released in redacted form. The total number of released pages is 1,123, with more complete versions readily available for viewing.
An investigation in the 1960s concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald, a local drifter and former US Marine who defected to the then-Soviet Union, acted alone when he shot at Kennedy’s motorcade from a nearby building.
A CIA document offered some insight into Oswald’s time in the Ussr. After the fall of the Soviet Union, an American professor interviewed a Kgb contact named Nikonov.
“Nikonov personally reviewed Kgb files to determine if Lee Harvey [Oswald] had been a Kgb agent. He reviewed five thick volumes of files on Oswald,” the memo read. “Nikonov is now confident that Oswald...

Released in 1991, Oliver Stone’s political thrillerJFK turned the assassination of President John F. Kennedy into a fast-paced mystery that combined historical events with heavy speculation. With a star-studded cast, JFK asked bold questions about the official story surrounding Jkf’s death, sparking widespread debate. However, while JFK was undeniably popular, it also faced major criticism for its historical inaccuracies.
Despite these flaws, JFK remains one of the most influential films of the 1990s. It reignited interest in the assassination and gave rise to new theories about who was really behind the killing of Kennedy. Its box office success and cultural impact cannot be denied, but the question remains: was JFK a bold cinematic statement or a dangerously misleading piece of historical fiction?
What Is JFK About?
As the name suggests, JFK follows New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) as he reopens an investigation into President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

There are a lot of Stephen King books out there — and about as many movies based on those King-ly books. The writer earns his title as a horror master not just through craft, but prolificity. He's got multiple works that could contend for "scariest book ever written," but quite a few that aren't so great either.
If you're preparing for a King deep dive, with movies or TV, consider starting with the cream of the crop. One story that's absolutely in that cream is King's novel "The Dead Zone," which fellow horror master David Cronenberg adapted as a movie in 1983. For added convenience, "The Dead Zone" is now streaming for free (with ads) on Pluto TV.
Now, Cronenberg is synonymous with body horror, but "The Dead Zone" is no gross-out picture; the violence happens only in spats. What makes it Cronenbergian is that is about a man undergoing a physical...

Exclusive: Nicholas Celozzi, a co-writer and producer on the Barry Levinson JFK flick Assassination, has filed a lawsuit against the film’s financier and production outfit 308 US.
Originally filed by Celozzi in a Los Angeles County court in November, the suit will go before a judge in April who will decide whether the legal action can proceed.
Celozzi, an LA-based producer, accuses 308 of multiple contractual breaches. The company contests those claims and has filed a motion to dismiss and has provided a comment below.
The suit is messy and largely born out of several complicated production agreements signed before Levinson’s involvement in the project. April’s hearing will be the latest stage in the months-long legal standoff. The meat and potatoes are as follows.
Assassination is the latest incarnation of a project launched by Celozzi about claims that his great uncle, Chicago mob boss Sam Giancana, arranged the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Even 30 years after its initial release, The X-Files still has a very active fan base. Audiences were quickly charmed by Fox Mulder and Dana Scully's dynamic and were pleased by the amount of special effects that were placed throughout the show. The show also rewards long-time fans by slipping in handfuls of quirky Easter eggs and giving some closure to the agents' slow-burn romance arc. When the show was rebooted back in 2015, it received a similar amount of praise, proving that The X-Files is still one of the best shows in the modern sci-fi genre.
Yet, some audiences are completely unaware that The X-Files had two primetime spin-offs. Because they were mostly aimed at American audiences and are yet to appear on streaming services, The Lone Gunmen and Millennium often fly under the radar of some of the most avid fans. So, what are these spin-offs about, and how do...

Oliver Stone says President Donald Trump “deserves praise” for his decision to release the last of the remaining top secret government files related to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, but also had some caveats.
The Oscar-winning director — whose 1991 film JFK is easily the best-known and most popular film ever made on the subject of Kennedy’s 1963 murder — released a statement late Friday concerning Trump’s move to order the release of the final 3 percent of the roughly 5 million investigative files related to the topic that have been held by the National Archives and Records Administration. Trump has also ordered the release of the remaining files on the subject of the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

President Donald Trump has ordered the declassification of records pertaining to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. The order comes after former President Joe Biden postponed the release of some additional files in 2022. The release of files began during Trump’s first presidency under the JFK Act.

Before crossing the industry standard runtime of two hours on his own films like Horizon – An American Saga, Kevin Costner clocked in a whopping three-hour-and-ten-minute runtime with the Oliver Stone directorial JFK. The controversial political thriller explored the conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination of the then-President John F. Kennedy.
While the film received polarizing reviews and was extremely controversial, the runtime seemed to be the least talked-about issue with the film. This reportedly inspired filmmaker Spike Lee to fight to keep his own ambitious political biopic Malcolm X at a longer runtime, despite WB urging him to keep it short.

Stephen King adaptations have long been a cornerstone of horror cinema. However, while some adaptations successfully capture the magic of King’s writing, others struggle to balance the scale and tone of his writing. Striking the right balance between King’s vivid characters, plots and atmosphere has proven to be a challenge – one that Hulu’s 11.22.63 couldn’t quite overcome.
Hulu’s miniseries had all the ingredients for success: a gripping premise, a stellar cast, and a devoted fan base. Yet, 11.22.63 fell short of the book’s brilliance, stripping away its depth and complexity. What could have been a masterful retelling of one of King’s greatest works became just another adaptation that missed the mark.

11/22/63 wasn’t Stephen King’s first foray into the Sci-Fi genre, but it was arguably one of his best.

Robert Picardo is an accomplished singer and actor whose career has lasted 45 years and shows no sign of slowing. He has been performing professionally since he was in college in the mid-1970s, appearing on stage in high-end productions like Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" and singing in his college a cappella choir. After college, he was recognized for his performance in a 1976 production of David Mamet's "Sexual Perversity in Chicago."
His movement to television was natural for a hard-working actor, starting with small roles in notable hit shows. He appeared on two episodes of "Kojak" in 1977 and has never had a "down" period since. He thereafter popped up in "Taxi," "Silver Spoons," "Alice," "Benson," "21 Jump Street," and 15 episodes of "The Wonder Years" as the hard-nosed Coach Cutlip, in addition to dozens of other TV shows that are too plentiful to list here. In the hit musical movie Wicked, Ethan Slater took on the role of the optimistic Munchkin, Boq, yet many years before that, the actor played a very different part in the musical. Based on the novel and Broadway musical of the same name, Wicked became an instant hit at the end of 2024. With stars like Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the lead roles, the movie captivated audiences and enveloped them in the colorful yet questionable world of Oz. Slater is one of several actors who made up Wicked's talented ensemble of supporting characters.
Like many members of Wicked's cast, Slater got his start on Broadway rather than on-screen. After studying drama in school, Slater began taking on roles in small theater productions, earning himself a nomination for Best Individual Performance at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. The 1991 political thriller JFK is one of the most ambitious films made by writer-director Oliver Stone. With a cast list that includes Kevin Costner, Sissy Spacek, Gary Oldman, and Vincent D’Onofio, the movie is jam-packed with so many stars that it would be easy to blink and miss one. One of those cast members is the late Donald Sutherland. Sutherland was famous for his film roles in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Pride and Prejudice, and The Hunger Games film franchise.
JFK tells the story of Da Jim Garrison’s (Costner) investigation into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. While based on historical events, JFK is rife with conspiracy theories and fictional accounts, making it a hotbed of criticism despite the film winning great acclaim. The 1991 Kevin Costner movie JFK managed to stir up so much controversy that the historical drama changed real-life US law. 1991’s JFK saw director Oliver Stone take on his most ambitious task yet. Fresh off the critical success of Platoon, Wall Street, and Born on the Fourth of July, Stone adapted Jim Garrison’s non-fiction book On the Trail of the Assassins and Jim Marrs’ Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy into an epic 188-minute political thriller that aimed to finally explain the persistent mysteries surrounding JFK’s 1963 assassination.

A few years before Stephen King published his first book, "Carrie," in 1974, he was struck by an idea for a historical novel. After calling this project "Split Track" in his head, King began working on it but soon realized that preliminary research required more time and dedication than he could spare at that moment. Although he abandoned the idea in favor of ideas that were easier to actualize, King would eventually return to this historical premise and tell a time-travel story that loops back to a particular date. This was his 2011 novel "11/22/63," wherein high school English teacher Jake Epping gets the opportunity to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which took place on November 22, 1963. As with every time travel tale with consequences, the aftereffects of messing with history are not pretty.
Even a cursory glance at "11/22/63" makes King's initial anxieties about time period-focused research apparent, as his exploration...

Throughout his lengthy Hollywood career, Gary Oldman has stepped outside himself and transformed into another person dozens of times. While so many of us will forever remember him for his fictional undertakings in projects like the Harry Potter franchise and Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the actor certainly has a particular knack for portraying real-life figures. From the troubled Sex Pistols bass player, Sid Vicious, in Alex Cox’s Sid and Nancy to his work as assassin Lee Harvey Oswald in Oliver Stone’s JFK, the actor has perfectly stuck the landing on numerous historical figures during his tenure in the biz. But, above all the others, it would be his work in Joe Wright’s 2017 biographical feature, Darkest Hour, that saw Oldman rise to new heights through his role as Winston Churchill. Right now, audiences can head over to Netflix, to see Oldman masterfully depict the ex-Prime Minister in the...

The American Film Market, which runs Nov. 5 – 10, kicks off in new digs as the event relocates from its long-standing base in Santa Monica to the bright lights of Las Vegas. The move will see hundreds of exhibitors setting up shop in the Palms Casino Resort, which will also play host to the AFM’s conference series, the AFM Sessions, as well as industry screenings inside the resort’s 14-screen multiplex, the Brenden Theatres.
More than 285 companies and organizations from 80 countries are exhibiting at this year’s AFM, with the event’s organizers announcing that exhibition space in the Palms Casino Resort has sold out. Countries including China, France, Germany, Italy, Romania and Thailand will host dedicated umbrella stands showcasing national companies and producers, and a total of 34 countries will be represented by international trade organizations, film commissions and national delegations.

Producers and distributors heading to Las Vegas for this year’s American Film Market, which runs Nov. 5-10, are betting big that indie action is primed for a comeback.
The AFM was built on action movies — the leading independent film bazaar launched in 1981 at the start of a decade defined by the cinematic stylings of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Segal, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. But in recent markets, with the headline-grabbing success of breakouts like Neon’s Longlegs and Cineverse’s Terrifier 3, action has taken a backseat to horror.
There will be scares-a-plenty at AFM 2024, but many of the market’s buzziest projects sit squarely in the action space. Even a few that don’t star Liam Neeson, Gerard Butler, Jason Statham or Nic Cage. How buyers respond to this new generation of would-be action stars — Daisy Ridley, Amber Midthunder, Alan Ritchson — will determine who...

Brace yourselves for another film that touches upon the JFK files! Bryan Cranston, Al Pacino, Brendan Fraser, and Jessica Chastain will come together in Barry Levinson’s mystery thriller, Assassination. The cast of Assassination: Jessica Chastain (Miss Sloane | Credits: EuropaCorp), Bryan Cranston (Your Honor | Credits: Showtime), Al Pacino (The Irishman | Credits: Netflix), Brendan Fraser (Killers of the Flower Moon | Credits: Apple Studios)
The Kevin Costner-starrer was based on the conspiracy that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone. As one of the first Hulu original series ever produced by the streaming service, it was a bit of a surprise when the 2016 Stephen King miniseries 11.22.63 disappeared earlier this year, but if you somehow managed to miss this underrated gem during its first go around, have no fear because not only has it found a new home, but youll be able to stream it for free next week.
Based on Kings epic 2011 novel, the series centers around the recently divorced Jake Epping, who is presented with a portal to 1960 in an old diner and tasked with going back in time to stop the assassination of President Kennedy. However, its not as easy as removing Lee Harvey Oswald from the equation, as Epping soon learns that when you set out to change the past, the past fights back.

These are frightening times. Of this, there is no doubt. We may even believe there’s never been more to fear. And for some populations, that’s true. But humanity has always lived in frightening times.
Since we first cast shadows onto cavern walls, we’ve made things to fear. Over time, those shadows evolved into performers donning masks, authors putting ink to paper, and filmmakers harnessing technology to project our nightmares onto the screen as we returned to our cave-dwelling roots to sit in the dark with others. We are a horror people. And as the world has gotten scarier, horror has been there to reflect back our fears.
The rise of Hollywood and independent filmmaking in the 20th century created a lasting dialogue between what we see in the fear-seeking news, and what films are made in response. Early American horror movies of the mid-1920s and 30s,...

Ridley Scott's 2001 horror thriller "Hannibal" was a long-in-the-tooth sequel to "The Silence of the Lambs," both of them based on the works of author Thomas Harris. "Silence of the Lambs" was a boffo blockbuster when it came out in 1991, winning many Oscars and making millions. Anthony Hopkins took the world by storm with his lip-smacking performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist with a penchant for mutilating, killing, and often eating his victims. At the end of "Lambs," Hannibal escapes his high-security prison and proceeds to wreak havoc in the world.
In "Hannibal," however, we learn that Dr. Lecter left one of his victims alive. Mason Verger (Gary Oldman) was a child stalker who, years ago, fell into Lecter's psychiatric care. Lecter, being a brilliant manipulator of minds, convinced Mason to use his autoerotic asphyxiation noose while slicing off his own face and feeding it to nearby dogs.
