Presented by Bloody Disgusting, “Bloody Bites” returns for Season 14 today on Screambox, with two brand new horror shorts now available to watch at your leisure!

The top-performing original series on the Screambox platform spotlights up-and-coming voices in the genre, with each episode featuring two horror shorts from around the world.

New snack-sized frights are available to stream every Friday for the next eight weeks. Episodes also air Fridays at 8pm Et on the linear, always-on channel Screambox TV.

Three curious young girls summon the entity, Sweaty Larry, based on an urban legend passed down through generations. They must flush the toilet while saying his name nine times…Nine Times and then turn on the lights to see if he will appear. The only problem was that no one told them how to put him back.

The organisers of MidWest WeirdFest have this week announced the first programming wave for the 2025 edition of the long-running genre festival. The cinematic celebration of all things fantastic, frightening, paranormal, and just plain weird, now in its 9th year, takes place March 6th – 9th 2025 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Says festival founder and programming director Dean Bertram:

We’re just two months out from the year’s weirdest film festival, and everyone at MidWest WeirdFest is excited to share our first wave of feature programming for 2025. From films about monster hunters and mavericks of erotica, through twisting neo-noir thrillers and blood-drenched horror romances, to dark adult comedies about time traveling madmen and substance abusing step-parents, there’s a bevy of delights for any cinephile who revels in the bizarre.

Exclusive: V Channels and Sandaled Kid Productions have formed a partnership to finance, produce and distribute a slate of ten micro-budget feature-length genre films.

Each of the projects will be from emerging international filmmakers. V Channels will fully finance, with Sandaled Kid overseeing production and handling the curation of the titles. Under the deal, the slate of films will be released on V Channel’s network of YouTube movie channels alongside outside distributors, including theatrical and streaming.

Production is currently underway on the first pic of the partnership, Washerwoman, directed by Bonnie Jean Tyer, starring Katie Lynn Stoddard, Tyer, Travis Cox, Loren Hayes, and Justin Hankinson. The film is produced by Tyer, Stoddard, Hankinson, and Craig Ouellette. Executive producers are James Cullen Bessack, Mario Niccola Messina, and Valentina Cau. The film follows an abandoned pregnant woman who is expecting soon, and to find a midwife, she’ll need to trespass...

Dread Central's 2012 Horror Starlets took part in the eighth annual Bowling for Boobies breast cancer charity event and wish to thank those in the horror community and beyond who generously donated to this wonderful cause. Check out some photos from the event!

Culminating on October 21st at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles, California, with a pink carpet, a night of bowling, and the paparazzi snapping away (see our photo gallery below courtesy of Geza Decsy and Al Ortega), the charity - run by founder Stephanie Lahart of the Busted Foundation - raised over $102,000, with our team (who received awards this year for ‘Most Money Raised’ and ‘Best Team Look’) contributing nearly $25K of that total. As they do each year, the proceeds will directly benefit local Los Angeles women battling breast cancer.

This writer is imploring you, our tightly-knit horror community, as we approach October – our month of months – to unite for a good cause: supporting Los Angeles women battling breast cancer by contributing to the Bowling for Boobies campaign.

For the past several years I've been involved directly with Bowling for Boobies (a non-profit fundraiser which provides monetary assistance to L.A. women who are experiencing financial challenges as the result of fighting and living with breast cancer). It's been a vastly rewarding experience as donations go directly to someone struggling with this deadly disease.

This year we're at it again with the 8th Annual Bowling for Boobies, which culminates on Sunday, October 21st, in Los Angeles at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City Walk with a red carpet followed by an evening of knocking down some pins with The Horror Starlets bowling team, which is comprised this year of myself...

With Screamfest La celebrating its 11th anniversary this fall (the venerated Los Angeles film festival – which is spearheaded by Rachel Belofsky – runs this October 14-23 in Hollywood, CA), the fest hosted last Thursday night another of its monthly mixers, and we were there to snap a few photos and to chat with the filmmakers in attendance.

On hand for the event (which took place at Hollywood Boulevard’s tequila bar Te’Kila) was FX artist and reality TV star Frank Ippolito, who stated of the release status of his short film Night of the Little Dead (a flick we were able to see the subsequent night at the cast and crew screening, and a trailer to which you can see here), “It’s finished. We have a 5.1 Surround mix, it’s all HD and shit, and we are shopping it around to find what film festival we are going to premiere it at.

In continuing with our historic support of independent filmmaking, Dread hit the set of director John Michael Elfers' Kiss before the Slaughter earlier this month in the deserts of southern California, and now thusly delivers to you an extensive gallery from the shoot, as well as word on the status of the gritty and subversive Fire Trial Films’ project. Elfers, whose previous feature horror flick Finale racked up globally a plethora of festival awards before acquiring DVD and VOD distribution (via Image Entertainment) has joined forces once again with that film’s co-conspirators Michael Elkin (who produces) and R. While co-hosting (with festival head Rachel Belofsky and Jonna Jackson) last week’s Screamfest La mixer at Te’Kila and 504 on Hollywood Boulevard (in attendance were horror movers and shakers John Skipp, F. Javier Gutiérrez, Stephen Goldmann, John Michael Elfers, Drina Durazo and more), I caught up with Re-Animator filmmaker Stuart Gordon in order to discuss his current projects as well as the currently previewing play Re-Animator – The Musical.

Opening on March 5th at the Steve Allen Theatre in Hollywood, CA, the stage musical incarnation of Gordon’s 1985 filmic hit (both of which center around Dr. Herbert West, a medical student obsessed with reanimating the dead) runs Friday through Saturday nights through March 27, and Gordon told us of the play over a cocktail amid the boisterous din, “Audiences seem to really like it, which is great! We’re previewing all weekend, and those nights are already sold out, which is a wonderful thing.

Independent horror flick Straight On Till Morning is to auction off a role to raise funds for a cancer charity.

The creative team have announced they will be offering a one-line role in their upcoming feature in support of Bowling For Boobies, a fundraising fixture on the horror community calendar.

Horror actresses will unite on October 24, 2010 for the 6th Annual Bowling For Boobies, a charity bowling event at Jillian's Hi-Life at Universal City Walk, Universal City, CA. It is run by The Busted Foundation which helps local Los Angeles women battling breast cancer.

The creative team behind the independent feature horror film Straight on Till Morning is proud to announce that they will be auctioning off a one-line role in their upcoming feature production in support of “Bowling For Boobies”. The event is a staple of the horror community and one which Dread Central scribe Sean Decker has been directly involved with for the last couple of years.

Straight on Till Morning is the tale of a small town musician driving cross-country who meets the girl of his dreams at a convenience store in an off-the-map town. But happily ever after comes to a screeching halt when their car is sabotaged, stranding them deep in the desolate desert...

The film is about taking the risk to live life to the fullest, the consequences of making that choice, and the noble and terrible things people will do in the name of love. It stars...

To star are scream queen Brooke Lewis (Kinky Killers) Maria Olsen (Percy Jackson and The Olympians), Camden Toy ("Buffy The Vampire Slayer"), Kyle T. Heffner (Flashdance), Tim Lacatena (Step Up), and Laurel Marlantes. These actors have been brough together by Angel Jane Films for a shoot in the Fall in and around the Los Angeles area. The "desolate deserts" of California will act as a hostile force for the cast, as a love story comes to a screeching halt "in an off-the-map town" (Angel Jane).
