Steven Knight is a name that is only set to get bigger if he sticks to the most recent job he's been hired for. The creator of mold-breaking television drama "Peaky Blinders" has been tasked with penning Denis Villeneuve's James Bond movie, and given his impressive body of work, it's understandable to see why. Besides writing the Cillian Murphy-led gangster drama (which is getting a film of its own), he's also penned the likes of Jason Momoa's "See," along with recent boxing drama on Disney+, "A Thousand Blows." One show that's massively overlooked and shouldn't be, however, is a World War II drama that debuted on Epix before it changed to MGM+. This isn't some short-lived series, either, but one that has so far earned a distinguished score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

While no show can truly replace Band of Brothers, Sas: Rogue Heroes is an arguably worthy successor. Helmed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, it follows the British Army Special Air Services (Sas) throughout World War II's Western Desert Campaign in Egypt and Libya.
As per FlixPatrol as of August 5, Sas: Rogue Heroes is at the number eight spot on HBO Max's global streaming charts. It is in HBO Max's top 10 for 28 countries, including Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden.

It seems that the world is itching for a bit of WWII-based action these days, with titles like Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare toppling the charts over at HBO Max. But, for those in need of something that will last a bit longer than a feature-length telling, they’re flocking to the streamer’s episodic offerings where Sas: Rogue Heroes is finding a new global audience. Did you hate the ending of "Game of Thrones?" You're not alone! Most fans, including myself, think that final season — and its series finale, "The Iron Throne" — was dreadful, rushed garbage, even if there are some defenders amongst my lovely colleagues here at /Film. Apparently, "the show's finale-haters can include Natalia Tena in our club.
Tena, who played the wildling Osha on the series until her character was violently killed off in the show's sixth season, told Kate Thornton on her podcast, "White Wine Question Time," in 2019 that she lost her patience with "Game of Thrones" partway through its final season and basically just flew into a rage after that. As Tena told Thornton, she was pretty much on board with the whole thing up until the episode where Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) saves humankind by slaying the Night King (Vladimir Furdyk), the event that marks the halfway point of that final season.

Considered one of the greatest action film series of all time, Derek Kolstad’s prominent John Wick franchise has come a long way from the first movie, released in 2014. The installment has since spawned three sequels and multiple spin-offs, as well as several more projects in development, including a fifth chapter. Keanu Reeves headlines the films in the titular role as a legendary hitman unwillingly drawn back into the criminal underworld after retiring to seek revenge against the men who killed his dog, a final gift from his recently deceased wife.
Despite the franchise’s popularity, there aren't many streamers that provide all four chapters, and as of June 2025, the films were available to stream on only Peacock, Fubo TV, USA Network’s streaming app, and NBC.com. When we are first introduced to Keanu Reeves’ brooding and serious character of John Wick, his wife has died, and he lives with his dog and has a very nice car in the 2014 film, John Wick.
Well, Alfie Allen, portraying the role of Iosef Tarasov, kills John Wick’s dog and nicks his car just because he felt like it. The Baba Yaga descends on these mobsters like a hailstorm, which later leads to his excommunication from The Continental, a part that was followed in later sequels. However, John Wick wasn’t the only assassin in town.

Known for her roles in shows like Friday Night Lights, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the 2011 TV show Wonder Woman, Adrianne Palicki found fame when she portrayed the role of Ms. Perkins in the 2014 film John Wick.

Across four movies, John Wick has killed almost 500 people, wounded countless others, and left a trail of absolute devastation across the globe. While he's mostly dispatched his enemies using his ferociously efficient gun-fu fighting style, Keanu Reeves' assassin has also offed adversaries in a variety of ingenious ways, including pencils to the neck and books to the face. From 2014's "John Wick" to 2023's "John Wick: Chapter 4," we've seen the hitman lay waste to thugs using every form of weapon and using every type of physical combat. And to think, if losef Tarasov (Alfie Allen) had just left that poor puppy alone none of this would have happened.
As any fan will know, John Wick set out on his murderous rampage simply because the son of a Russian crime boss killed his Beagle puppy, Daisy. That puppy happened to have been given to the retired assassin by his deceased wife,...

In Game of Thrones' brutal continent of Westeros, where vileness and cruelty were never in short supply, countless characters endured unimaginable suffering. However, no one was subjected to debilitating torture quite like Theon Greyjoy. Captured by the sadistic Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), Theon was tormented and broken to the point of losing his identity. His arc remains one of the most harrowing on the show, and one of the most memorable, thanks in no small part to Alfie Allen, who embodied the character with haunting precision, earning an Emmy nomination. Now, for his next role, the English actor will play the tormentor in an upcoming Paramount+ thriller that promises to flip the dynamic he once portrayed so painfully well.

An original cast member of Game of Thrones is starring in a new thriller show on Paramount+ that's based on a bestselling book. The main cast of Game of Thrones have all moved on with their careers in the years since the divisive ending of Game of Thrones or the deaths of their characters. Some, such as Pedro Pascal, have become superstars in their own right, while others have stepped back from the spotlight. Now, however, one original cast member is set to star in a new original show from Paramount+.
Per Variety, Alfie Allen, who played Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones and Iosef Tarasov in the original John Wick, is set to star in Baby Doll alongside Jill Halfpenny. Baby Doll is being produced for Paramount+ and is based on the novel of the same name by Hollie Overton. It follows Lily (Tallulah & Delphi Evans), who was abducted...

Paramount+ has commissioned “Baby Doll,” a new original U.K. thriller series.
Based on the novel by Hollie Overton, the 6-part series — described as a “gripping exploration of trauma, resilience, sisterhood, and the high cost of reclaiming one’s life” — is being produced by Brit production banner Clapperboard Studios.
Now in production, “Baby Doll” — currently a working title — will follow the story of twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are shattered when Lily is abducted from their quiet rural English town by beloved local teacher Rick Hansen. After years of abuse in captivity, Lily escapes, only to discover that freedom brings its own challenges. The world she longed to return to has moved on without her. As Abby, Lily and their mother Eve struggle to rebuild their family, they must confront the lasting damage and the terrifying reality that Rick is still out there, determined to control the narrative and evade justice.

One of the marks of a good show is if viewers can see things from both sides. During Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, it was easy to look at the villain and see their point of view. There were also moments when the heroes of the story did things that made you hope they’d die. You can say it’s a bit harsh, but you know it’s true. This article is going to show the top nine times this writer found himself rooting for the “wrong” person.
House of the Dragon season 2 Episode 5 9. Daemon Targaryen, in general
I’m starting hot with this one because Daemon is rarely wrong. Yes, he’s done a lot of questionable things (like dating his underage niece). But let’s be honest: no one is watching House of the Dragon without him. For that reason alone, I think that...

Game of Thrones alum Jack Gleeson will soon be back on the small screen. He is playing Puck in the second season of The Sandman, which is due to premiere on Netflix on July 3.
Per SFX Magazine, a new image was released of The Sandman Season 2 featuring Gleeson's Puck alongside Freddie Fox's Loki. The photo showcases a better look at the Gleeson's Puck after a first-look image previously provided a more limited sneak peek, showcasing him from the shoulders up. Whether this villain will be seen by fans as despicable as Gleeson's Game of Thrones character remains to be seen, though showrunner Allan Heinberg has said how he wrote the role of Puck specifically for the Joffrey actor.
"He brings so much depth to that part," Heinberg said, per EW. "He brings sexiness to it and mischief and psychology and heart. I have a tendency to write to the actors playing these parts,...

There are not many franchises that have maintained the same high level of pulse-pounding quality that the “John Wick” series has. Across its five film installments, the franchise has delivered one breathtaking action set piece after another. Even “Ballerina,” the franchise’s new, Ana de Armas-led spinoff, has a second half that is practically overflowing with some of the most astonishing fights and moments of pure action mayhem that you will likely ever see on the big screen.
“John Wick” set a high bar for itself early on, and yet it has continued to hit and surpass it. In honor of “Ballerina,” here are the franchise’s seven best action scenes, ranked.

The enormous cast of Game of Thrones has gone on to do lots of great stuff in TV, film and on the stage. Take Gemma Whelan, who played Yara Greyjoy, sister to Theon (Alfie Allen). She's appeared in shows like The Tower and Gentleman Jack, but there will always be fans curious about her time in the Seven Kingdoms.

Not that you take it for granted but when you’re making it, particularly with season two, I just thought, ‘We’re making a bit of TV and let's see what happens.’ And it just blew up, didn't it? Editor's note: This article was originally published on August 6, 2022 following the release of Prey. It has been updated to include the new movie Predator: Killer of Killers.
With the release of Predator: Killer of Killers, it’s the perfect time to look back on one of Hollywood’s most iconic sci-fi horror franchises. There have been great Predator movies, there have been bad Predator movies, and there have been plenty of Predator movies somewhere in between. We’re going to go through all of them and rank ’em!
And before you ask: yes, we are including the Alien vs. Predator films in these rankings. More movies makes for more fun, and we have thoughts. That said, you can probably guess which film is going to land in the number seven spot…

We've all heard tales, throughout the years, of the original "Game of Thrones" pilot and how much it absolutely stunk ... and apparently, Kit Harington, who played assumed Stark bastard Jon Snow in both the botched pilot and the entire series, had a bad feeling about it pretty early on.
In an Esquire profile in the April 2019 issue of GQ (about a month before "Game of Thrones" concluded with its eighth and final season), Harington revealed photos of his time on the "Game of Thrones" set to interviewer Bruce Handy, which apparently included a shot of the original table read for that awful pilot. As Harington showed off a picture of himself and his co-stars Richard Madden and Alfie Allen, who went on to play Robb Stark and Theon Greyjoy, he mused about the pilot that, thankfully, never saw the light of day.

The John Wick franchise has been going on for over a decade since the release of the first film in 2014. Since then, Keanu Reeves' titular character has been fighting a lot of bad guys, and the franchise will further continue with the first spinoff film, Ballerina.
The upcoming spinoff will bring back a series of characters, including Reeves' John Wick, and will further expand the universe with a character that has been introduced before. One of the other franchise stars who makes his way over to Ballerina is Ian McShane, who has played Winston in all the films so far. In an interview with Cbr's Grae Drake, the actor looked back at the franchise and revealed that the villain who made him the angriest was Alfie Allen's Iosef Tarasov.
When Alfie Allen was brought up in reference to the first film, the actor revealed he is "still angry at Alfie Allen.

For fans, Game of Thrones was more than just a television show – it was a global phenomenon. And for eight seasons, it kept everyone hooked to the television screens with unexpected twists and complex characters. People loved it not just for the dragons and massive battles, but also for the emotional journeys that some of the characters went through in the series.
But out of the lot, the most powerful storyline would definitely be that of Theon Greyjoy, played by Alfie Allen. Greyjoy’s path in the show was full of terrible choices, and because of that, he went through extreme pain and torture. Moreover, his journey to seek redemption was probably the most emotional arc in the show.
So, because of this, even Allen had a simple wish for his character. Let’s dive deeper to know what he said on his character’s journey in Game of Thrones...

Stars Who Almost Made It To Game Of Thrones ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Game of Thrones has become so iconic that it’s nearly impossible to picture it with any other actors than the ones we know and love. Emilia Clarke’s fiery Daenerys and Lena Headey’s cold-as-ice Cersei are ingrained in our minds, but the casting process was far from straightforward. Before the show became the global sensation we know, several Hollywood A-listers nearly joined the cast, some even auditioning for key roles that would eventually make history.
Imagine a world where Mahershala Ali almost played a Qarthian merchant or Sam Heughan wasn’t swinging a sword in Outlander but instead vying for a role in Westeros! While many could have fit in seamlessly, others missed their shot, leaving us to wonder, what could have been? Let’s look at these 10 actors who almost made it into the world of Game of Thrones.

Why Was The Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington & Richard Madden Battling It Out Offscreen? (Photo Credit – Wikipedia)
It turns out the real Game of Thrones isn’t just about dragons, betrayal, and icy zombies. That’s right. While the world obsessed over who’d rule Westeros, there was a quieter, sweatier rivalry playing out behind the camera. Kit Harington and Richard Madden, known as Jon Snow and Robb Stark, had their little battle going on. And it had nothing to do with swords.
According to Alfie Allen, the pair were in a friendly race to see who could score the most chiseled six-pack. Yep, that’s what he said. In an old interview with The Guardian, Allen shared the juicy behind-the-scenes scoop:
“At the beginning, me, Kit Harington and Richard Madden were definitely in some sort of competition about who could be in the best shape. It’s not like we were comparing,...

There are dozens of key moments in the history of "A Song of Ice and Fire" that, had they gone another way, could've put characters on very different paths. What if Robb Stark had stuck to his original wedding plans? What if Bran had listened to his mother and not gone climbing? What if Ned Stark had taken the time to hear out the deserter from the Night's Watch who claimed that White Walkers were the real deal? These are all hypotheticals that could've changed "Game of Thrones" drastically, but one huge alteration that author George R. R. Martin had genuinely considered was having a time jump in the middle of a pivotal moment of his epic story.
Amidst all the deception, death, and dragons, Martin played with the idea of giving his characters a breather between "A Storm of Swords" and "A Feast for Crows," the third and fourth...

We’ve seen quite a lot of intimate scenes in Game of Thrones, and while Emilia Clarke had been on a lot of them, she had a special request that the showrunners failed to honor. It’s upsetting because the actress faced stressful times while performing these acts where she was required to bare it all, and still her only wish was not granted.
Daenerys Targaryen had a few lovers in the show whom she got very intimate with, but none of them were women. The British actress actually hoped her character would explore more of her s*xuality and perhaps find romance in fellow females, a thing that evidently did not happen.

Plot: A haunting psychological thriller based on one of America’s most infamous figures. After the Waco siege, a chilling plan brews in the mind of army veteran Timothy McVeigh. What follows are the harrowing events leading up to the single deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history.
Review: Anyone around in the 90s likely remembers the name Timothy McVeigh. And if you don’t, chances are the words “Oklahoma City Bomber” ring a bell at least. Serving as the deadliest act of homegrown terrorism in US History, the bombings were an absolutely tragic loss of life. Now, McVeigh looks to shed light on the motivations of the two bombers: Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh.
McVeigh is a slow-burn story that follows Timothy as he gets radicalized after the Waco shootings. He viewed himself as a constitutionalist and felt the government was fascist, not following the Declaration of Independence as intended.

As a psychological crime thriller, McVeigh (2025) relies on the tense atmosphere surrounding its characters. It centers around a war veteran who commits an act of domestic terrorism. Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones) plays Timothy McVeigh, a real-life terrorist the film is based upon, who is the perpetrator of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. Mike Ott has directed this film, whose efforts turn it into a brooding affair. The entire film feels like the silence before the storm. It shows McVeigh slowly getting sucked into a destructive philosophy that destroys several lives.

McVeigh (2025) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:
Mike Ott’s direction makes McVeigh appear like a gradually escalating affair, leading up to something devastating. However, it steers clear of using heightened moments, turning the film into a study of the character’s indecipherable interiority. It’s not the easiest task to talk to actors about such dark subject matter, especially when the events are based on reality. Brett Gelman gets into all of the research that went into his role as Terry Nichols, McVeigh’s partner and the one who taught him how to build bombs. I was then shocked to discover that Ashley Benson had been involved with the project for nearly 6 years! Anthony Carrigan was more soft-spoken, and I wish I could have gotten into something lighter like his Barry days. But he gets into what kind of research he was able to do, given that his character was mostly based on an unknown third assailant.

The gears are in motion for a fifth John Wick movie, despite the character's seeming demise at the end of the fourth film. However, whether Keanu Reeves returns or not, there's one character you probably won't see in a future John Wick film. In an interview with Collider's Aidan Kelley for his new critically acclaimed movie Bob Trevino Likes It, legendary star John Leguizamo stated that his character, auto mechanic Aurelio, likely won't be back for another round.
Says Leguizamo, of the possibility of a return to the blockbuster action franchise:
Yeah…Well… I mean, I was cut out of 2, so I was not the happiest camper. I had a whole backstory and everything, but I don't want to get into all that.
On the suggestion that he could return Wick's car after being absent from the franchise since the second film, Leguizamo was very clear:
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

McVeigh is a haunting psychological thriller based on one of America's most infamous figures. After the Waco siege, a chilling plan brews in the mind of army veteran Timothy McVeigh. What follows are the harrowing events leading up to the single deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history.
Alfie Allen plays the movie's title character and he's surrounded by a phenomenal supporting cast that includes Brett Gelman (Stranger Things), Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), and Anthony Carrigan (Superman).
Earlier this week, we were fortunate enough to speak with them about their work on the must-see new movie. While we'll bring you a full transcription of our interview soon, Anthony was kind enough to share a few brief remarks about his role as Metamorpho in James Gunn's upcoming Dcu reboot.

Timothy McVeigh ruthlessly murdered 167 men, women, and children when he bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. It is the worst act of domestic terrorism in American history. McVeigh does not portray this man as a monster with devil's horns and scales. Director/co-writer Mike Ott uses subtlety to craft a chilling portrayal of a calculating white supremacist hellbent on causing the most carnage possible. You could have passed him on the street without much outward clue of his malicious intentions. McVeigh operated quietly in the shadows, but had allies and accomplices that shared his heinous vision. This is the most disturbing aspect of the film.
Alfie Allen stars as McVeigh. We first see him getting pulled over by a state trooper. He uses a fake driver's license to conceal his true identity. There doesn't seem to be anything threatening about the soft-spoken man. He's...

Cinema’s obsession with murderers – especially famous ones – seems never ending, yet the picture it paints is very different from reality. We’re all familiar with the latter-day movie archetype of the cool, charismatic killer, well dressed, bright-eyed, witty and smarter than everyone around him. Whilst a few well known murderers have perceived themselves that way, the reality tends to be very different. How does one successfully tell a story about someone who is socially withdrawn, living along, rarely speaking even when he is in company? How does one illustrate the development of his ideas when he keeps his thoughts locked up inside his head? Tony Stone tried it in 2001 with Ted K, his take on the story of the Unabomber, and now Mike Ott is here, taking a similar approach, with McVeigh.
It all hinges on finding the right actor. Whilst he’s no Sharlto Copley, Alfie Allen has acquitted.

At a time when the stories behind shocking headlines are routinely turned into true crime podcasts and star-studded Netflix series, the question of how to tell them ethically is often raised. For its part, Mike Ott’s McVeigh delivers about as un-exploitative and un-sensationalized a depiction of Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh as could possibly be imagined—to the point that, if anything, the film ends up understated to a fault.
McVeigh begins with Timothy (Alfie Allen) driving down a country road as weathered as his car. Nothing happens for a spell, until Timothy is pulled over by a cop. But nothing much happens at this point either, and Timothy is soon free to continue on his way. Something about the relative lack of incident and the dreary, sparse environment puts us on edge. From the start, McVeigh thrums with a sense of alienation and hostility so pronounced that even those...
