Every film that he has made previously is a fantasy action thriller with nothing but low scores. This one is basically a Warcraft knockoff, even the title is winking at that. A group of guardians are tasked with protecting a messenger who must deliver vital information to their king. On their journey through an ancient land, they'll face a battle filled with plagues, dark magic and vile monsters. Channel 5 Hails ‘Black Cab’ With Robert Glenister, Suzanne Packer & Sean Pertwee

Paramount’s UK terrestrial network Channel 5 has unveiled a four-part thriller, Black Cab, with Robert Glenister (Sherwood) , Suzanne Packer (In My Skin) and Sean Pertwee starring. The contemporary thriller, produced by Story Films in association with All3Media International, will air next year. Black Cab will follow Glenister as a down-and-out Liverpool taxi driver, who begins to form an unhealthy obsession and twisted sense of world view of a late-night radio talk show host (Pertwee). Nick Saltrese (A Prayer Before Dawn) has penned the series and Diarmuid Goggins (Kin, Bulletproof) is the director, with Alex Jones (Penance, Witness No. 3) producing. All3Media International will handle global distribution.

Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has acquired worldwide international sales rights, alongside U.K. and Ireland distribution, for Warchief, the upcoming film from BAFTA-winning director/writer/actor Stuart Brennan and Golden Globe-winning producer Gareth Wiley.

The previously unannounced feature is now filming in the English county of Suffolk and will delivered by the end of 2022, with the first elements available for viewing at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Warchief follows a band of guardians who escort a mysterious messenger to their king, unaware that they are being hunted by bloodthirsty orcs. Brennan writes, directs and stars in the feature along with Michael Lambourne (Cashback), Andrea Vasiliou (Wonder Woman), Suzanne Packer (BAFTA nominated, Casualty), Mark Wake (Kingslayer) and newcomer Rosanna Miles.

Jodie Whittaker’s turn as the timelord was well-received by critics, as well as fans in the U.K. who tuned in in droves to the new season of “Doctor Who.” The series opener garnered a 40.1% audience share for the BBC in the U.K. After the episode came to a close, an extended preview of upcoming installments revealed glimpses of new guest stars who will appear throughout the ten-episode run.

In its new Sunday evening slot on BBC One, “Doctor Who” generated an average of 8.2 million viewers, and a peak of 9 million. Previous Doctor Peter Capaldi’s series opener won 6.8 million. Prior to that, Matt Smith’s first episode won 7.7 million, and David Tennant’s 8 million.

By way of comparison, BBC drama “Bodyguard” was the U.K. pubcaster’s best new drama launch for a decade earlier this year with an overnight audience of 6.8 million.

The BBC and Amazon have offered the first glimpse of John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot in the forthcoming adaptation of The ABC Murders. The two broadcasters have also rounded out the cast with filming now underway.

Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter), Kevin McNally (Pirates Of The Caribbean), Gregor Fisher (Love Actually) and Jack Farthing (Poldark) will join Malkovich, Rupert Grint, Tara Fitzgerald and Andrew Buchan in the Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited production.

Karla Crome leads the cast of a new ITV thriller The Level which has just started filming in London and Brighton.

Karla (represented by Troika), stars as Detective Sergeant Nancy Devlin who has a secret double life. Her exemplary police career masks a covert attachment to shady businessman and drugs trafficker, Frank Le Saux (Philip Glenister). Inextricably linked to Frank from childhood as the father of her best friend, Hayley, played by Laura Haddock, and the father figure she herself craved.

Casualty fans have voted for the long-running medical drama's best ever episode to celebrate its 25th anniversary. 'The End of the Line', the opening episode of series 18 focusing on a devastating train crash, was named the winning episode with 18.5% of the vote. The 2003 episode was written by Ann Marie di Mambro and was the first of a two-parter, which saw Holby's medical staff dealing with the tragic accident. The likes of Martina Laird, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Derek Thompson, Suzanne Packer, Ian Bleasdale and the late Simon MacCorkindale starred in the episode. Gory scenes from Casualty's series 23 opener last September have been criticised by the media regulator, Ofcom, which said the episode exceeded generally accepted standards and was inappropriately scheduled. In the special two-part episode, nurse Tess (Suzanne Packer) is impaled on a spike at a building site while searching for a patient. The patient, a young woman, subsequently films the nurse in her predicament, runs from the scene and ends up being hit by an ambulance, which sends her flying into the windscreen of an oncoming car. Five viewers complained to Ofcom, calling the scenes "disturbing", "violent", "extremely graphic", "shocking" and "disgusting".
