Image
We join Liana’s journey in Desperate Lies,Lies, seeking motherhood yet facing deception. This Brazilian drama unfolds her struggles amid relationships tested by secrets and sacrifice over 17 episodes. While genres like drama andtelevision series television series inspire the story, balancing depth across such a runtime proves challenging.

Still, director Angela Chaves shapes a glimpse into family bonds worth exploring. At the show’s heart lies Liana, brought to life vividly by Juliana Paes. Her unwavering love and the challenges of pregnancy intrigue, though darkness looms ahead. Intertwining lives unfold against a backdrop of Brazilian culture, anchored by stellar roles such as Felipe Abib’s unsettling presence.

This review aims to appreciate both strengths and limits. Characters, narratives, and production will be assessed alongside themes of motherhood, betrayal, betrayal, and truth. Most importantly, we consider if Desperate Lies engages throughout its at times exhaustive journey or proves better in moderation.

‘Desperate Lies’ Review: Netflix Brazilian Show Is A Serious Drag
Image
Alright, if you’re interested in a show that will have you hooked for two days straight, then Netflix’s new Brazilian original Desperate Lies might do the trick for you, but at what cost? The melodrama has 17 forty-minute to hour-long episodes that keep spinning the yarn, leaving you frustrated from start to finish. After watching 7 episodes of the show thus far, I’ve got to stop and wonder why exactly I’m invested in this story at all, or if I am at all. Desperate Lies follows Liana, a woman desperate for motherhood, and the many lies she has to spin to keep her family together. The show is essentially a family epic that is, in all honesty, exhausting. Not only is the drama way too long, including multiple plots to weave an intricate story that only ends up becoming a shoddy carpet instead of a beautiful tapestry, I mean,...

Disney’s Latin America Execs Did Not Expect Robert De Niro to Love Argentina’s ‘Nada’ Script
Image
Even Robert De Niro could not resist the great script for Disney mini-series Nada.

Leonardo Aranguibel, VP, head of production operations & strategy at Disney for Latin America, and Mariana Pérez, VP, head of development & production for the same patch, sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss what they called their “mission” for The Walt Disney Company in Latin America – but not before explaining how the veteran actor was brought aboard the Argentinian comedy drama.

Nada, which premiered on Disney’s streaming service Star+ in October last year, follows wealthy food critic Manuel Tamayo Prats (Luis Brandoni) who faces crisis after the death of his housekeeper. Set in Buenos Aires, the series is narrated by Manuel’s old friend, Vicent Parisi (De Niro), who eventually travels to the city to help his old friend.
