'Diamond' thriller for Depardieu
PARIS -- Gerard Depardieu will be back on the big screen in upcoming thriller Diamond 13, the film's producer MK2 said Friday.
Depardieu will star opposite French actor and director Olivier Marchal and actresses Valeria Golino and Aissa Maiga in the adaptation of Hugues Pagan's novel L'Etage des Morts directed by Gilles Behat.
MK2 will co-produce the film with Belgium's Artemis and Luxembourg's Samsa Film.
Depardieu will play a Paris-based night cop in the heart of the city's criminal neighborhood who finds himself at odds with lifelong friend and drug trafficker Marchal.
The film begins its eight-week shoot Feb. 18 in Anvers and will hit Gallic screens in the fall via MK2's distribution arm MK2 Diffusion.
