The Gilded Age just keeps reaching new heights as it heads toward its Season 3 finale.

The penultimate episode drew 4.6M viewers in the three days since it debuted on HBO on Sunday, setting another series record, per Warner Bros. Discovery. This is now the fourth consecutive week that the third season has managed a new series high audience.

Ahead of Sunday’s finale, the show is apparently drawing in new viewers at a record pace. The company says that The Gilded Age is currently adding viewers at a rate nearly 50% higher than in previous seasons.

Of course, newcomers are playing catch up, so much of this viewership is actually boosting the previous seasons, too. Wbd says that Season 1 viewership was up approximately 30% last week compared to the same week leading into last season’s Episode 7.

This bodes incredibly well for the show’s fourth season, as it has already received a renewal from HBO.

Another week, another viewership high for “The Gilded Age.”

For the third week in a row, the HBO period drama has set another viewership record. The sixth episode of the show’s third season reached 4.5 million multi-platform viewers in its first three days of availability. That is up from 4 million for episode five in the same timeframe.

Per HBO, Season 3 is now outpacing Season 2 by 25% in viewers, while every episode of the third season has delivered audience growth. The Season 3 finale is scheduled to air Aug. 10. The news comes just a few days after it was announced that HBO had renewed the show for a fourth season.

HBO’s critically acclaimed, juicy period drama The Gilded Age has officially been renewed for season four. The announcement was made with two episodes left to air of season three.

The Emmy-nominated HBO Original drama series The Gilded Age has been renewed for a fourth season. From creator Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey), the series has achieved praise for its ensemble cast, costume design, and Emmy-winning production design.

The season three finale will air on Sunday, August 10 (9:00-10:00 p.m. Et/Pt), and all episodes are available to stream on HBO Max.

HBO says that total premiere-night viewing for the third season has grown for five consecutive weeks, culminating in a 20 percent growth compared to last season. Fan engagement has also climbed, with social chatter rising nearly 60 percent week over week.

Indie streamer Nebula has set the leads for its upcoming anthology series “Sub/liminal,” which boasts multiple Broadway staples.

Nebula describes the six-episode series as in the same vein as “The Twilight Zone” and “Black Mirror,” as it “explores power dynamics in human relationships, and what can happen when those relationships fall out of balance.”

Disney’s “Snow White” has been banned from playing in movie theaters in Lebanon as star Gal Gadot is on the country’s boycott list, according to local media reports.

Local newspaper An-Nahar reported that the ban was ordered by Lebanon’s Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar, who made the decision amid Israel’s ongoing attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon, which have killed civilians.

Gadot, who portrays The Evil Queen in the live-action remake, was born in Israel and served in the Israel Defense Forces. She has been an outspoken advocate for the country since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks.

“Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews,” Gadot said in a March 4 speech at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit in New York City.

While the makers expected positive momentum from international regions, the reality is heartbreaking. Yes, the European box office response has been poor so far, with France and Italy witnessing undesirable feats.

The musical fantasy film, which is a live-action reimagining of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, opened in Europe on Wednesday. On March 19, it opened in France, while in Italy, it arrived on March 20. Among critics, it has fetched poor reviews so far. Chicago – The latest Disney Studio live action reboot of an animated classic is the worst thing to happen to “Snow White” since the poisoned apple. This woebegone misfire in re-imagining the 1937 film hit a new low with this incompetent, incoherent, and incomprehensible miscalculation of epic proportions.

Rachel Zegler is Snow White, a princess daughter of a benevolent king and queen … but her mother the queen later dies. Enter the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot), who disappears the king and makes Snow White a scullery maid. When the mirror routine happens … who’s the fairest of them all? … and determines Snow White instead of the Evil One, the Queen banishes her to the forest. There she meets seven dwarves and a Robin Hood type named Jonathan (Andrew Burnap) – essentially the prince in this story – who leads a gang who are loyal to Snow’s father. Snow’s new team then sets out to get the kingdom back.

The debut score has been revealed for the new Snow White remake. Even ahead of its release, the film was rather polarizing, and that trend will continue with the divisive Rotten Tomatoes score.

Heading into its opening weekend, Snow White has garnered a debut score on Rotten Tomatoes of 48%. Initially, the early reactions from critics on social media were very promising, though with many other critics having more harsh opinions, the Rotten Tomatoes score is almost firmly right in the middle of the road. The number may continue to fluctuate as added reviews come in, but this is a clear indicator that the critics can't agree on how they feel about Snow White.

Beginning in 2010 with the release of Tim Burton's not-at-all-good "Alice in Wonderland," the Disney Entertainment Complex discovered they could make billions merely remaking their most popular animated films using live-action actors and modern-day CGI. This was a curious practice, as the bulk of the films they were remaking were already based on folk tales, ancient stories, or children's literature that is adapted frequently by filmmakers the world over.

Of all the Disney animated classics to have been given the live-action treatment, few are more beloved than 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a landmark feature that opened the door to a whole vault of canonical fairy tales ideally suited to the form. Oedipus, Robert Icke’s West End hit reimagining of the Sophocles tragedy starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville, will transfer to Broadway this fall for a 14-week engagement as part of the Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2025-2026 season.

Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Sue Wagner, John Johnson, and Patrick Catullo, in association with the Roundabout, Oedipus will kick off the Roundabout’s upcoming season with performances beginning in November at the theater company’s Studio 54 Broadway venue.

Reprising their roles from the sold-out London staging, Strong plays Oedipus and Manville portrays Jacosta. Strong was last seen on Broadway in the 2015 Tony Award-winning A View From the Bridge (for which he earned a Tony nomination), and Manville, an Oscar nominee for her performance in 2017’s Phantom Thread, will be making her Broadway debut.

The official synopsis: “It’s Oedipus’s Election night. The polls predict a landslide victory. Everything is about to change.

Patrick Page, Broadway’s Tony-nominated Hades of Hadestown who was scheduled to join the other original production castmates in a monthlong West End reunion engagement this month, has withdrawn from the run due to a full rupture of his Achilles tendon.

Page, however, will perform for the live capture pro-shot performances on February 28 and March 1. The filming of the original cast West End reunion was announced in January.

In an Instagram message, Page, pictured with his ankle in a cast (see it below) wrote, “Bad news first: my injury is a full rupture of the Achilles tendon. Hadestown, Anaïs Mitchell’s hit Tony-winning Broadway musical based on the Orpheus myth will be professionally filmed live during its current West End engagement featuring the original Broadway cast, producers announced today.

Reprising their roles from the original Broadway cast for the London pro-shoot will be Reeve Carney as Orpheus, André De Shields as Hermes, Amber Gray as Persephone, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice and Patrick Page as Hades.

The filming will take place at London’s Lyric Theatre across three performances: Friday, February 28; and both matinee and evening performances on Saturday March 1. There will be 2,000 tickets in total available to purchase for the filmed performances, with tickets on sale Friday, January 31 at 12 pm.

Casting for performances between February 11 and March 9, including the filmed performances, will feature the previously announced original cast members from the National Theatre and the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway productions.

Directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, the live-action Snow White film is a musical re-imagining of Walt Disney Productions' 1937 animated film. In a new image shared by USA Today, Gal Gadot's Evil Queen stands tall and majestic as she takes Snow White (Zegler) by the hand. The image appears to be from the beginning of the film, with the two likely inside the Queen's castle before Snow White flees into the forest after the Queen orders her to be murdered.

Snow White is one of Disney's latest live-action adaptations, taking on the story of the classic 1937 Disney animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Also a musical, this version of Snow White stars West Side Story breakout actor Rachel Zegler in the lead role. In addition to Zegler, Snow White features a leading cast including Gal Gadot, Patrick Page, Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Colin Michael Carmichael, and Lorena Andrea.

Now, ScreenRant can exclusively reveal the latest image from Snow White. This image focuses on Gadot's Evil Queen, the villain of the princess film. She wears a dark black outfit with a bejeweled neckline with alternating blue and green sequins.

David Adjmi’s Stereophonic was named Best Play of the year by the New York Drama Critics’ Circle today, with the Best Musical Award going to the Off Broadway production of Dead Outlaw from the team behind The Band’s Visit.

Stereophonic, currently on Broadway, has received 13 Tony Award nominations, and includes songs written by Will Butler from the indie rock band Arcade Fire. The play tells the story of a fractious 1970s Fleetwood Mac-like rock band recording what will be a massive Rumours-like hit record.

Dead Outlaw, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna and a book by Itamar Moses, is inspired by the life of Elmer McCurdy. The musical, which premiered this year at the Minetta Lane Theatre, was originally conceived by Yazbek and tells the story of an outlaw from the early 20th Century whose corpse became a traveling sideshow exhibit for decades.

Schmigadoon! is getting an unexpected encore. After being cancelled earlier this year, the Apple TV+ musical comedy will live again, this time as a stage production in Washington D.C.

As part of its 2024–2025 season, the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is staging the world premiere of a new musical based on the short-lived series, featuring familiar tunes from the show (“Corn Puddin'”!) as well as brand-new songs written for this production.

Winners of the 2024 Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in Off-Broadway theater, were announced on Sunday, May 5, in a ceremony at NYU Skirball. The show was hosted by Rosalind Chao, Jen Colella, Michael Esper, 2024 Tony nominee Eden Espinosa (“Lempicka”), 2024 Tony nominee Nikki M. James (“Suffs”) and Bd Wong. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by Tdf.

It was a banner evening for Ars Nova. Not only did the theater company receive an honorary award for Best Body of Work, their show “(pray)” was also the top winner of the night. This co-production with National Black Theatre took home three trophies including Best Musical, Best Director for NicHi douglas and Best Ensemble.

Four other productions earned multiple awards, with “Buena Vista Social Club,” “The Comeuppance,” “Stereophonic,” and “Wet Brain” each claiming two prizes.

Lortel Awards (for outstanding Off Broadway shows) were awarded to Eli Gelb for his featured performance in a play for Stereophonic, and Kecia Lewis won for her featured performance, musical, in Hell’s Kitchen. Sound designer Ryan Rumery won for Stereophonic. All three of those winners are nominated for 2024 Tony Awards for their their shows Broadway productions.

The 39th annual Lucille Lortel Awards were handed out last night.
