Rebecca Drysdale has exited as head writer of The Tonight Show.
This comes just over six months after she was named head writer on the NBC late-night show and follows a busy week for the Jimmy Fallon-hosted show, which earlier this week saw showrunner Gavin Purcell leave, replaced by Jamie Granet-Bederman, and Fallon himself extend his contract with the network.
Drysdale, in a private Facebook post first picked up by the Chicago Sun-Times, said that the decision to leave was mutual. “They made it clear that I was not a good fit for the show, and I did not disagree. I wish it had gone differently and I had been able to be what they needed but that is not how it shook out,” she wrote.
Drysdale added that she decided to never to write another sketch about Donald Trump again, saying that she doesn’t believe making fun...

Most people would probably agree that Adam Sandler is one of the most divisive personalities in modern-day Hollywood. His movies usually do pretty well at the box office, and find themselves with tons of viewers if they’re Netflix exclusives, but his lowbrow comedic efforts often get destroyed by critics, who constantly call him out for phoning it in.
That being said, he’s more than capable of stepping outside his comfort zone to bring us strong dramatic performances, just like he did with the recent Uncut Gems. In fact, his work in the film was so good that many even thought he could end up with a Best Actor Oscar nod. Of course, that didn’t happen, but it’s still one of Sandler’s best efforts and it seems that Netflix subscribers agree.
Indeed, the movie has been dominating on the platform for almost a week now, but it’s not alone.

Proving yet again that Netflix audiences just can’t get enough of Adam Sandler, the top two movies on the platform right now both star the performer. The list of the most popular films on Netflix Us for May 28th has Uncut Gems at the top of the pile, with Just Go With It coming in at second place, ahead of other recent fare such as The Lovebirds and The Wrong Missy. What, then, might explain why Sandler continues to dominate on Netflix?
Well, the success of Uncut Gems on the streaming site is perhaps more easily explained, given that the film received almost universal critical acclaim upon its theatrical release, and only arrived on the platform on Monday. Sandler’s performance as a jeweler who gets drawn into an increasingly stressful set of circumstances, including an outrageous bet, was arguably unfortunate to be overlooked at the Oscars this year,...
