Garden of Eden Review: More Than Torture, A Moral Inquiry
Image
In the manicured world of the super-rich, philanthropy often takes predictable forms: galas, endowments, oversized checks. The Eden family, however, has pioneered a far more bespoke form of charity. Publicly, they are paragons of Christian virtue, their immense wealth seemingly a divine reward for their piety.

Their garden parties are legend, elegant affairs where the less fortunate might find favor. Yet, the family’s true ministry operates in the shadows, specifically in a well-appointed cellar. They offer a unique service, a kind of retributive salvation, to victims of profound injustice.

The Eden family’s gift is the opportunity for one wronged person per party to enact a meticulous, hands-on, and shockingly violent form of justice upon their tormentor. It is an arrangement that presents a stark, unsettling paradox of faith-fueled savagery.

The Catharsis Conundrum

Does revenge heal? Society has wrestled with this question since the Code of Hammurabi, and Garden of Eden...

3 ‘Garden of Eden’ Clips Preview Graphic Gore and Torture
Garden of Eden (2025)
Viewer discretion is advised before watching not one, not two, but three exclusive clips from Garden of Eden — they contain graphic content that some may find disturbing.

Described as “‘American Horror Story‘ if it had a kinky and debaucherous fetish filled three-way with Martyrs and Hostel in a church pew,” the film hits digital this Friday, June 20, via Gravitas Ventures.

“After reading one specific scene in Garden of Eden, I knew that taking this role came along with a responsibility,” actress Gigi Gustin (The Retaliators), who appears in the first clip, tells Bloody Disgusting.

“In order to serve the story, I was going to have to be the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on screen before. I was going to have to go places emotionally that were uncomfortable, even for me, someone who’s very used to tapping into darkness for the sake of the character and the story,...

Image
Exclusive: Toronto-based genre sales specialist Raven Banner has added Neon Noir horror pics Brute 1976 and Garden of Eden to its Cannes Film Market slate.

Brute 1976 from director Marcel Walz is marketed as a throwback to horror classics such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and follows a group of friends who stumble upon the desert town Savage while looking for a spot to set their latest photo shoot, only to meet the depraved, mask-wearing Birdy family, who begin hunting them down one by one.

Sarah French, Gigi Gustin, Dazelle Yvette and Adriane McLean star.

Garden of Eden follows the wealthy and devout Eden family, who choose one lucky guest from each of their parties and give them the opportunity to fulfil their greatest desires. However, a life-changing dream for some may become a nightmare for others.

Walz is the director, and like Brute 1976, was written by Joe Knetter.

The Bizarre Direct-To-Video Horror Film That Launched Mark Ruffalo's Career
Image
On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.

Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

Blind (2014)
That’s a Wrap trailer promotes giallo thriller by showing off the bad reviews – Exclusive
Blind (2014)
The creative team behind Blind (watch it Here, read my review at This Link) and its sequel Pretty Boy recently launched a production company called Neon Noir, and their first production is a giallo thriller called That’s a Wrap, starring Cerina Vincent of Cabin Fever. Quiver Distribution gave the film a digital release back in August, and it has now made its way over to the Tubi streaming service – and to promote the film now that it’s free to stream, we have the Exclusive first look at a new trailer for That’s a Wrap that shows off quotes from the bad reviews the movie has received! The bad reviews cited things like “too much gore” and “too much nudity” as negatives. You can watch the bad reviews trailer for That’s a Wrap in the embed above.

My own review of That’s a Wrap can be found Here.

‘Axeman At Cutter’s Creek 2’ Review
Image
Stars: Arielle Brachfeld, Ari Hader, Bryan E. Clark II, Arielle Brachfeld, Monique Parent, Alisha Seaton, Farrah Abraham, Edward Gusts, Allen Merritt, Michael Wayne Foster, Craig Partamian, Jacqui Holland | Written and Directed by Joston Theney

I’m not going to lie, the Axeman franchise is starting to get a bit confusing… the original film was released in 2013 and a sequel arrived a few years later under the title Axeman 2: Overkill. Then in 2020 the original film was recut and re-edited, making it – as filmmaker Joston Theney stated – a more straightforward horror with a leaner edit, new footage and new music. Originally set to be released under the title Axeman: Redux, instead it was released as Axemen at Cutter’s Creek.

Now comes Axeman at Cutter’s Creek 2 which, if you believe IMDb is a sequel to Axeman 2 and Not Axemen at Cutter’s Creek – though the press materials claims otherwise, stating...

Erotic Thriller Documentary ‘We Kill For Love’ Celebrates 80s and 90s Thrillers [Sex Crimes]
Image
For the first time since beginning this editorial series, we’re discussing a documentary rather than a fiction film. That’s because Yellow Veil just released a supersized documentary about the history of the Erotic Thriller called We Kill For Love: The Lost World of the Erotic Thriller (2023).

Clocking in at 163 minutes, this is a thorough, occasionally indulgent documentary written and directed by Anthony Penta. The doc uses a framing device featuring an archivist character, played by Michael Reed, cataloguing countless VHS tapes and watching “Suspect Interviews” (aka talking head interviews) in his dimly lit office. These segments recur throughout We Kill For Love, and also feature voice-over narration from Penta that are partially purple prose, partially quotations from academic articles and books on the genre.

The vast majority of the documentary, however, is taken up by clips and talking head interviews. There’s a good variety of interviewees, including scholars such Linda Ruth Williams,...

That’s a Wrap Review
Image
Plot: When filmmaker Mason Maestro throws a private party after production wraps on his new slasher flick, someone dressed like the killer in the movie starts knocking off the partiers one-by-one.

Review: After working together on the stalker film Blind (read my review at This Link) and its sequel Pretty Boy (which we’re still anxiously waiting to see), director Marcel Walz, screenwriter Joe Knetter, and star Sarah French have teamed up once again to launch a production company called Neon Noir. Their first production is That’s a Wrap, a giallo slasher that takes both clear inspiration from the works of Italian filmmakers like Mario Bava and Dario Argento – especially due to the fact that Walz and cinematographer Marcus Friedlander have soaked nearly every shot in colorful lighting – and from the Scream franchise, in that it’s a meta film where the characters work in the horror business.

As Terry Alexander...

Marcel Walz Discusses Meta Horror Movie That's a Wrap
Image
That's a Wrap is an upcoming horror comedy movie that combines the style of a Giallo with the meta whodunit of Scream. The plot concerns the cast of a slasher movie, also titled That's a Wrap, celebrating at a wrap party when they are slowly picked off one at a time by someone dressed as the villain of the movie they just made. Director Marcel Walz spoke with MovieWeb about the film.

The Independent Horror of Neon Noir

That's a Wrap is undoubtedly an independent film. However, fitting with its self-referential meta framework, it also comments upon indie cinema, but in a loving way. “I mean, we do not make fun of [the indie film world], but we do explain the wider audience of the mainstream people, what it means to work in the indie world and also these horror movies." He continued:

We make fun of it, but not really. We just want...

Confused? Don’t be, That’s a Wrap is an exercise in meta filmmaking set at the wrap party for director Mason Maestro’s latest film, That’s a Wrap. Mason, his wife Lily, and the film’s producer played by Frédéric von Anhalt, best known for being married to Zsa Zsa Gabor will all be there.

[Popcorn Frights 2023 Review] Gillao-Inspired That’S A Wrap Carves Up A Synth-Heavy Indie Stunner
Marcel Walz’s That’s a Wrap unites the director’s visually dazzling style with the Giallo subgenre in a match made in horror heaven. Vibrant scenes, solid performances, and a killer synth soundtrack accent this fun murder mystery that’s sure to please a wide array of horror fans.

That’s a Wrap begins just as a fictional “That’s a Wrap” has finished filming. Teaser trailer fresh off the shelf, director Mason (Robert Donavan) gathers the cast of his newest Giallo horror movie to celebrate a wrap party with his wife, veteran actress Lily (Monique Parent). The cast, including the film’s final girl Harper (Sarah French), quickly become bored with the tame party, and scatter about the studios and set pieces. Not unlike the very film they’re celebrating, sex, drugs, and booze quickly rule the evening. Unfortunately, another element of “That’s a Wrap” has crashed the party…...

CUCK - on location
‘Cuck’ Writer-Director Rob Lambert Inks With Zero Gravity; ‘All Rise’s Nadia Gray Signs With Link Entertainment
CUCK - on location
Rob Lambert, whose debut feature film is the psychosexual, politically tinged thriller Cuck that Gravitas Ventures released earlier this month, has signed with Zero Gravity Management for representation in all areas.

The news comes as Cuck is going on offer to international buyers at the upcoming American Film Market in Santa Monica.

The film is a fly-on-the wall character study tracking an isolated and lonely young man (Zachary Ray Sherman) as he is indoctrinated into the online echo chambers of alt-right ideology and hate. Sally Kirkland, Timothy V. Murphy and Monique Parent co-star. Here’s the trailer:

Nadia Gray, who now is recurring on CBS’ freshman legal drama All Rise, has signed with Link Entertainment. Gray plays Ria, a model and aspiring brand ambassador, and girlfriend to commitment-phobe Dda Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel). Film Review: ‘Cuck’
Todd Phillips
If this weekend you’re only seeing one depressing character study about an unemployable, fatherless, antisocial manchild who lives with his sickly mother, is often unattractively shirtless, and eventually decides society must pay violently for his general misery … then you are almost certainly going to “Joker.” As it happens, however, there is an alternative also fitting that description perfectly well. “Cuck” is, in fact, “Joker” with even less vestige of superheroics than Todd Phillips’ atypical comic-book movie, about precisely the sort of people some have feared will take “Joker” as an incitement to real-world violence: the usually white incel-type man who feels marginalized and somehow robbed of success, who in worst-case scenarios ends up shooting up a school, workplace or other public space to feel his rage isn’t entirely impotent.

It’s certainly worth having more than one film wade into this terrain, particularly since “Joker” allegedly goes out...

Official Trailer for Cautionary American Tale 'Cuck' from Rob Lambert
"When the fire comes, you're gunna burn." Gravitas has debuted an official trailer for an indie film titled Cuck, an intriguing take on an issue in American society today. When a frustrated loner gains popularity as an Alt-Right vlogger, the online echo chamber he finds solace in turns his insecurities into a deadly rage. The term "cuck" (while also a sexual kink term) in this case means a man who is desperate for acceptance, approval, and affection from women. Zachary Ray Sherman stars, with a cast including Sally Kirkland, Timothy V. Murphy, Monique Parent, and David Diaan. It's obvious that this is trying to comment on this online echo chamber / self-righteous rage culture, but seems to be trying a bit too hard to make a point. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Rob Lambert's Cuck, direct from the film's YouTube: When a frustrated loner named Ronnie (Zachary...

Everybody wants to buy the perfect house right? The house that seems just right for what you need. What would you do if the basement had hidden secrets, like a history if bloody gory murder would you still want it?

The Fear (aka The Perfect House) is something we’ve been lacking for a while. A good anthology of horror, no ghosts though just good old fashioned gore all interwoven into a story about a house for sale. As a realtor shows a couple around a house we learn the three stories of what have gone on in and around the basement.

The first is of a family hiding from a storm outside. They include a psychopathic mother,...
