Patricia Arquette on Starring in David Lynch's Polarizing 'Lost Highway:' "One of the Bravest Things I Could Have Done"
Image
Patricia Arquette recently spoke about starring in the late David Lynch's polarizing and surreal 1997 film, Lost Highway, as both Renee Madison and Alice Wakefield. In the interview with IndieWire, she reflected on the dual roles, filming with Lynch (who very recently passed away), and appearing nude.

"That was the hardest movie for me to ever make because I’ve always been very shy," Arquette said. "Especially sexually. I think I probably had a lot of trauma. For many years, I would even take baths in the dark, alone with just a candle."

In the past, she said filming the nude scenes were "terrifying," especially as the crew said "crude" things. She continued:

"For me, making Lost Highway was one of the bravest things I could have done. I was so sick of carrying this burden of terror, this fear. That was a very powerful movie for me to make.

Nightmare On Elm Street: Patricia Arquette Has One Major Condition For Potential Franchise Return
Image
The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise could lure back Patricia Arquette, if producers are willing to meet one particular condition. The future Oscar-winner became a 1980s scream queen with her starring role as Kristen in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Having survived her battle with Freddy Krueger, thanks in part to her special dream-gymnastics skill, anointed Final Girl Arquette exited the franchise. Her recast character was eventually killed in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

Almost 40 years after taking her turn in the biggest of all ‘80s slasher franchises, Arquette says she would consider returning to Elm Street, but joked that she’ll only do it if producers take away Kristen’s gymnastic ability and give the character a new superpower (via ComicBook.com):

“Ya know, I just, I never really thought that in my dreams I’d be a gymnast so I don’t know.

Patricia Arquette Is Right About Her Nightmare On Elm Street Character (& Deserves Another Chance)
Image
The A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise has seen various characters come and go, among them Kristen Parker, played by Patricia Arquette, and she’s right about one specific thing about her. Back in 1984, Wes Craven terrorized the audience with a one-of-a-kind slasher villain in A Nightmare On Elm Street. The movie introduces Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a child killer burned alive by the parents of his victims. However, that isn’t enough to stop him, and he returns to terrorize the children of his murderers where their parents won’t ever be able to defend them: their dreams.

However, if Krueger kills them in their dreams, they die too. One of his targets, Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp), goes to lengths to defeat him, but it’s not enough. The success of A Nightmare On Elm Street made way for a franchise with a total of nine movies (including a...

Patricia Arquette Has a Specific Requirement to Return to 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'
Image
The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has seen its fair share of final girls, but one that many fans would love to catch up with again is Patricia Arquette's Kristen Parker. At least the version she portrayed in 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, before actress Tuesday Knight took over the role in the fourth installment and encountered a grisly fate. Arquette's Kristen has become a fan favorite over the years, and while the actress rarely talks about doing the film, she did recently reveal what it would take for her to return to the iconic franchise.

During a chat with ComicBook, while Arquette was promoting the upcoming season of Apple TV+'s Severance, she was asked if she would ever return to the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. As it turns out, the actress has a very specific requirement that needs to be in...

'Maybe I'll Come Back:' A Nightmare on Elm Street Actor is Open to Franchise Return
Image
Several legacy characters have returned to their respective horror franchises years after the original movies hit the big screen. The latest actor to hint at a potential return is A Nightmare on Elm Street alum Patricia Arquette.

Speaking to ComicBook, Arquette, who played Kristen Parker in 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, said she would definitely be open to reprising her role under one condition. "You know, I never really thought that in my dreams I'd be a gymnast, so I don't know," she joked. "Maybe I'll come back if I can change my superpower, but I mean, I don't know. I can be invisible, I can be anti-gravitational. I can do all kinds of things. Why do I have to do gymnastics? I like gymnastics. Don't get me wrong, but I'd like something a little more lethal when I'm dealing with [Freddy Krueger]."

Freddy Krueger's Famous Nursery Rhyme, Explained
Image
Horror master Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most beloved franchises in the genre, and its famous slasher villain, Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), is equally beloved. Since it has remained undeniably popular in the 40 years since the first film's release, it is hard to believe that Craven had a difficult time trying to get the project picked up. All the major studios balked at the premise, claiming they didn't think audiences would find dreams scary enough. Luckily, New Line eventually gave the movie the greenlight, thus giving birth to one of horror's most iconic franchises.

Despite being made on a lower budget, the movie became a big success and catapulted Freddy into horror icon status. The surprise success of the movie paved the way for seven sequels, a crossover with fellow horror icon Jason Voorhees, a remake, a video game, a TV series, and countless merchandise.

Nightmare On Elm Street: Origin & Meaning Of Freddy Krueger's Song
Image
It's the nursery rhyme nightmares are literally made of, but what's the origin behind A Nightmare On Elm Street's Freddy Krueger nursery rhyme? While the franchise is iconic now, A Nightmare On Elm Street creator Wes Craven had a hard time getting the project a greenlight. Every major studio rejected it, feeling audiences wouldn't find dreams scary. New Line eventually picked up A Nightmare On Elm Street, which was shot for a low-budget.

The movie soon became a word-of-mouth smash with the franchise's razor-clawed villain Freddy becoming a horror icon. The series spawned numerous sequels, a TV series, a video game, and assorted merchandise. The series would eventually be rebooted with 2010's A Nightmare On Elm Street starring Jackie Earle Haley, but despite being a financial success, it received roundly negative reviews and a planned sequel didn't happen. One thing that has remained consistent in the original franchise and...

Neve Campbell Stands by Her Comments About 'Disrespectful' Offer for Scream 6
Image
Neve Campbell's absence in Scream VI was due to her wanting to be respected and receiving equal pay, which she felt was lacking. Campbell's decision not to return for the sequel reflects the ongoing issue of unequal pay, particularly for women in the film industry. The success of Scream VI without Campbell's presence shows that a film can still do well even without a star returning, but there is hope for her return in future installments.

“What’s your favorite scary movie?” For many horror fans the answer will always be director Wes Craven and creator Kevin Williamson’s Scream. And actress Neve Campbell has been with the franchise almost every step of the way since the original film premiered in 1996. However, Campbell’s character Sidney Prescott was noticeably absent in Scream VI. And Campbell’s decision not to return for sequel No. 5 boiled down to wanting to be respected,...
