It’s the end of the road for “And Just Like That.”
The “Sex and the City” sequel series will end with its third season, which is currently rolling out on HBO Max, showrunner Michael Patrick King announced on social media on Friday. He said the decision was made in conjunction with star Sarah Jessica Parker, HBO and HBO Max boss Casey Bloys and HBO Max content head Sarah Aubrey as he wrote the ending of Season 3, which led to a two-episode extension to wrap up storylines appropriately.
“Sjp and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” he said in a statement. “It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”

The Dcu is in full-swing thanks to Superman hitting theaters this summer, and DC Studios looks to ride that momentum with a long-awaited series. Expected to debut in early 2026, HBO's Lanterns has reportedly wrapped production. The show follows John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as a pair of space cops investigating a mystery, but it will also introduce perhaps the most iconic Green Lantern villain of all time.
Lanterns star Ulrich Thomsen took to social media to share an image of himself with his mustache half-shaved, seemingly teasing his transformation as Sinestro. The Green Lantern villain will make his Dcu debut in the HBO series in 2026, but the actor teases a bright future is ahead for the character. His caption reads,"Bye for now [Sinestro] – I'll keep one side for later. Hope too see you again." It seems he has wrapped filming his scenes as Sinestro, which coincides...

The writers and executives producers of “And Just Like That…” Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky were not exactly expecting the audience reaction when Lisa Todd Wexley’s (Nicole Ari Parker) father died… for seemingly the second time. After all in the first season, Lisa literally said, “I was exactly the same when my father died last year.” In the current season, years later, her father (Billy Dee Williams) died again, and she attended the funeral. HBO quickly explained this time her real father died and before it was her stepfather, and Rottenberg and Zuritsky told THR that it was a sign of just how lower the viewers are.
“That was surprising to me,” Zuritsky said. “It’s the close viewing, but that comes back to the relationship that people have with the show.”
“You want close viewers,” Rottenberg added. “We know our viewers are smart and paying attention, and you want that.

Trawling through TikTok last week, I came across a scathing review of a recent episode of And Just Like That.
A user named Sabrina Bendory had picked up over half a million views on a video in which she was dissecting bizarre plot choices for characters old and new in HBO’s revival series of Sex and the City. “Miranda Benjamin Button-ed herself back into a 5-year-old,” she said of Cynthia Nixon’s child-like performance in season three, episode seven. “Balloons!” Miranda exclaims while setting up for Charlotte’s birthday party. “And they’re pink!”
Bendory asked: “Who is this person?”

As many suspected, it sounds as if the Dcu's premiere Green Lantern will be Aaron Pierre's John Stewart, at least by the end of the upcoming HBO superhero drama, Lanterns.
Speaking to CBS Morning, Dcu co-chair James Gunn confirmed that Stewart is the focal point of the story, despite other Green Lanterns being featured.
"We go into Supergirl and Lanterns next summer...It's basically John Stewart's story in a lot of ways, but with those other characters," said Gunn, referencing Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan.

For those who’ve watched And Just Like That since the very first episode, you probably did a double take when Lisa Todd Wexley’s (Nicole Ari Parker) father died in the July 3 episode… because he already died, right? Viewers immediately recalled Ltw talking about her dad’s death when Big (Chris Noth) died in the first season. While fans took to social media to call out what they thought was a continuity “mistake” made by the writers, the And Just Like That production team revealed that’s not the case whatsoever. There’s a simple explanation — and Lisa Todd’s dad definitely didn’t die twice. The team told The Hollywood Reporter that the deceased father Lisa Todd was talking about in Season 1 was her stepfather. “I was exactly the same when my father died last year,” Lisa told Charlotte (Kristin Davis) in the first season. Her biological father,...

It was an emotional hour, as Lisa struggled through a difficult eulogy at the Pippin-themed funeral — but it was also a familiar one, as this apparently isn’t the first time Lisa has had to say goodbye to her father.

HBO’s revival series And Just Like That has continued to hold on to a loyal fan base, mostly composed of die-hard Sex and the City fans.
The sequel show is currently airing its third season with original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis returning as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, respectively, to the streets of New York. This time around, we see the women tackle life, love and friendship from the perspective of their 50s — though Kim Cattrall has declined to return as the iconic Samantha Jones.
Without Cattrall, Satc boss Michael Patrick King made the decision to welcome some newcomers into the fold, with Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) introduced to fill the Samantha-shaped hole.

“And Just Like That … ” accidentally killed off Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker)’s father not once but twice, and fans did not let the producers up on it.

This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 from this point forward.
If you're an And Just Like That viewer who has caught up on the most recent episodes of season 3 and have been on the internet recently, then you're fully aware of the awkward, if not humorous, snafu the series has made. A character who was already six feet under was seemingly brought back from the dead just to be killed off again. Yes, this really happened.
And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 sees Lisa grieving her 90-year-old father's death from a fatal stroke. She spends much of the episode not only experiencing the grief of not having a chance to say goodbye but sparring with his girlfriend, played by Jenifer Lewis, over the funeral arrangements. In the end, Lisa doesn't get her way, but that's not what everyone's talking about.

As many corporations have abandoned Dei programs and pledges during the past two years, veteran TV producer Candi Carter is at the forefront of a movement to use digital platforms to better support Black-owned businesses and underrepresented business owners. Carter’s latest venture also taps into the fast-growing sector of “shoppable TV” content.
Carter is the founder of Shop Red Bag, an online marketplace that bowed last month, on Juneteenth, featuring a curated collection of household goods from a diverse range of independent suppliers. The site is designed to help consumers be more intentional in directing their dollars to businesses that align with their values and principles.

DC Studios' approach to Lanterns has been interesting, to say the least. While it's hard to fault the decision to make John Stewart the Dcu's main Green Lantern, casting a 59-year-old Hal Jordan (and a 54-year-old Guy Gardner) wasn't something anyone saw coming.
Still, it means those characters have a built-in history in the Dcu, and Nexus Point News has today confirmed that Hal's past will be explored in the upcoming HBO Max TV series.
Lanterns has already cast younger and older versions of John's parents, as well as a child version of the character and his brother. That's led to speculation about a flashback episode for the hero, and the same may be in the works for Hal as his parents, Martin and Jessica Jordan, are also being cast.
According to the site, "Martin is described as handsome, confident, charming, but hides a deep sadness. Similar to the comics,...

Note: This story contains spoilers from “And Just Like That” Season 3, Episode 5.
“And Just Like That” threw a wrench on Charlotte’s picture perfect family life in Season 3, with a heart-wrenching health twist she’ll have to keep secret — for now.
In Episode 5, titled “Under the Table,” Charlotte (Kristin Davis) learned that her husband Harry (Evan Handler) was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He quickly reassures her that he has a good prognosis, as the doctors caught it early and his form of the disease has a 98% survival rate. But that does little to soothe her fears, especially after he makes her promise not to tell anyone, including her friends and their kids.
“People get all kinds of unexpected health news. This is true to life,” Davis told TheWrap of the twist. “She holds Harry in such a sacred place, and this family that she’s created, it would be very...

Earlier reports about Lanterns being grounded may have been misconstrued by fans.
Recently, James Gunn tried to clarify those comments, and now, James Hawes, who directed the Lanterns pilot, is doing the same.
Hawes recently spoke to Phase Hero about the release of The Amateur but also touched on his work on the Dcu's upcoming Green Lantern drama.
"The scripts have so much with, so much character, it's a buddy cop movie, played out in a True Detective, Fargo, No Country For Old Men naturalistic [way] and then somebody flies," exclaimed the British television director.
Addressing previous reports and comments about the series being grounded and the assumption that everything is set on Earth, Hawes stated, "I'm going to talk very obliquely about this because there are excitements to come," teased Hawes.
"It won't disappoint the classic fans. I think it will invite in a whole new audience as well, " Hawes said.

Lanterns star Aaron Pierre will soon showcase his superhuman strength as Green Lantern in the anticipated DC Universe series. However, the acclaimed actor reveals how much strength he needed to show in real life to prepare for the superhero role, bouncing back from a severe injury to make his Dcu debut.
Via his Instagram, Pierre shared that his tendon completely tore off the bone last September, causing his bicep to retract and requiring surgery. The devastating injury news came before learning the next month that he'd portray John Stewart's Green Lantern in Lanterns, with filming for the Max series beginning this past February. Pierre offered insight into his rigourous rehab in a video showcasing him lifting countless weights, chains and riding a bike as he locked into getting healthy before shooting for the series began.

The highly anticipated HBO series Lanterns is set to be a cosmic cornerstone of James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe (Dcu), offering a fresh, grounded take on the iconic Green Lantern mythology.
Unlike previous adaptations, this series is described as a detective story with a gritty, True Detective-esque tone. It will follow two legendary Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, as they unravel a dark, Earth-bound mystery.
The plot centers on a seemingly isolated murder in the American heartland, specifically Nebraska. This local crime will draw the veteran Green Lantern Corps member Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and his new recruit, John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), into deeper, more sinister revelations.
The series, consisting of eight episodes, promises to connect this Earth-based investigation to the larger narrative of the Dcu's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
In a recent interview, actor J. Alphonse Nicholson, who portrays John Stewart's father in the upcoming space drama,...

I'm no stranger to bad TV shows. I once wrote a whole screed right here at /Film about how Netflix's "Emily in Paris" (a show with a sneaky connection to "Sex and the City" in its original form) can barely even be called a television show, because there are no stakes and nothing ever happens and it contains zero narrative structure whatsoever. I even once penned an ode to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw, the heroine of "Sex and the City" and its reboot "...And Just Like That," and by "ode," I mean I called her an irredeemable sociopath. (I also unashamedly love "Vanderpump Rules." I think it's one of the best television shows of all time. Fight me!) For better and definitely for worse, I am somewhat of an expert on television that makes me want to use bleach-infused eyedrops or throw my television out of a fifth-floor window.

This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 2.
Whenever a new season of And Just Like That premieres on HBO Max, the popular joke on social media is that it's the "worst" show on television. It might not be as good as its predecessor, but calling it across-the-board bad, even while still enjoying the mindless entertainment, is a little dramatic. The show has its strengths... and its faults.
Even though the third season has only aired two episodes, it's becoming increasingly clear that there's very little vision in place for Charlotte (Kristin Davis). Sex and the City never had this issue with the character, always knowing where to go with her development. And Just Like That has been treading water with Charlotte and her funny but benign sitcom side quests.

From “Mississippi Masala” to “Homeland” to Carrie Bradshaw’s land, Sarita Choudhury has lived an exciting and diverse life on screen. Choudhury plays Seema, one of Carrie Bradshaw’s closest friends on “And Just Like That,” and Seema shines as one of the strongest characters on the “Sex and the City” sequel. In fact, it’s hard to remember the city without Seema.
IndieWire sat down with Choudhury to discuss season 3 — all things sex, Seema, dating, love, Carrie, Aidan, and of course, the only city that matters, New York! Choudhury opens about her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Nicole Ari Parker.
And she also weighs in on comparisons between Seema and Samantha Jones, Kim Cattrall’s longtime “Sex and the City” missing-in-action mainstay (she reveals whether Samantha and Seema would get along). Choudhury also confesses the big risk she took for her “Ajlt” Zoom audition that probably got her the role.

Lanterns Reportedly Adds Oscar-Nominated Love Actually Star - Is She Playing The Dcu's Carol Ferris?
DC Studios has attracted some exciting talent for the Dcu, though it could do with a few more A-listers. Fortunately, Jeff Sneider is reporting today that Laura Linney has joined the cast of HBO Max's Lanterns.
The Love Actually star has been the recipient of many awards, including three Emmys and two Golden Globes. She's also received three Academy Award nominations.
Who is Linney playing? Sneider isn't sure. However, Kyle Chandler is 59 and Linney is 61; taking that into account, it would make sense for her to take on the role of Carol Ferris, the love of Hal Jordan's life and the superhero known as Star Sapphire. The reporter acknowledged that it's a possibility on The Hot Mic podcast.
We wouldn't be surprised if she's powerless in the Dcu, unless the Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Indigo and Violet, Black, White, and Ultraviolet Corps from across the emotional spectrum have existed for years.

It's been nearly two years since we last caught up with Carrie Bradshaw and the gang in And Just Like That, but they're finally back with season 3 on HBO Max. When we last left Carrie in season 2, she and Aidan rekindled their romance, but just when things were heating up, he needed to return home to be with his children. He asks Carrie to wait for him for five years. Five years!
Carrie believes she's up for the task, but she quickly learns that long-distance relationships and limited communication might be harder than she anticipated. She even butts heads with Anthony over it, but we'll get to that! Elsewhere in the And Just Like That season 3 premiere, Miranda has a fling with guest star Rosie O'Donnell, and Seema makes a big decision.

[This story contains spoilers from the And Just Like That season three premiere.]
After blowing up their central couple, And Just Like That has returned with a new chapter in its love story for Carrie and Aidan.
The sequel series had renewed the romance between Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her Sex and the City ex, but ended with the couple parting ways in the season two finale. Aidan (John Corbett) asked Carrie to wait five years so he could focus on being the primary parent to his youngest child. “We haven’t seen each other in 10 years and it went by like that (snaps his fingers),” Aidan told Carrie. When he repeated his five-year ask, he didn’t snap. “I already did and you didn’t see it; that’s how quick it was.”
Aidan was sure that the soulmates could make it work. Was it fair what he was asking of Carrie? Will Carrie wait?...

I can imagine a Carrie Bradshaw voiceover telling me that some things are just worth the wait. She’d be talking about a waiting list for a pair of great new shoes, an aging wine or a New York apartment, but we’d know that she was really telling us that women in their 50s, like her and her friends, were the subtext. This character loves a strained metaphor at least as much as she loves luxury accessories. And perhaps she’d try to persuade me that this metaphor also applies to her show, HBO Max’s “Sex and the City” reboot with the equally strained title “And Just Like That …,” which is returning Thursday for its third season in a wildly uneven run thus far.
As I approached watching this time around, I couldn’t help but wonder: How many chances are too many chances to grant a beloved franchise’s frenzied reboot?...

Jason Ritter has confirmed that he'll be playing a comedic role in Lanterns.
The actor recently spoke to Forbes about a number of topics but briefly touched on his current work, which is portraying Billy Macon in HBO and Max's Lanterns.
