Earned a bachelor's degree in acting from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Parker was considered for the role of Bill Horton on Days of Our Lives, with the casting won by Paul Carr. The other leading contender for the role was Edward Mallory, who went on to portray the character of Bill for over a decade on the show. Parker was eventually cast on the show as Shawn Brady, patriarch of the Brady clan.
