Planes: Fire & Rescue Review
2013’s Planes was the underdog story of a little film no one wanted, one that was destined for a direct-to-dvd release, but, against all odds, found its way to theatres. The merchandising windfall ensured by a whole new class of vehicle in the Cars universe was no doubt reason enough for Disney to release a half-assed, miscast, and poorly animated spin-off to the big screen, but a timely launch window allowed Planes to make back its (relatively) inexpensive budget fourfold. Going up against another round of weak weekend competition less than a year later, Planes: Fire & Rescue further pushes the envelope for what the House of Mouse deems “theatre-worthy.” To damn with faint praise, there’s no denying that Fire & Rescue is, at the very least, a marginal improvement over its execrable predecessor.

The first Planes having so dogmatically delivered every beat of its “local plane makes good” story...

Excl: Director Tammi Sutton Talks 'Ripped-Off'
Isle of Dogs (2010)
With Isle of Dogs’ director Tammi Sutton’s latest feature Ripped-Off gearing up for principal photography in Los Angeles, CA this spring, we caught up with the filmmaker to discuss what happens when car thieves steal the wrong vehicle (this being a Sutton film, all sorts of stylized hell will break loose, more than likely). Read on.

Currently casting, Ripped-Off was written by Jeff Sisson, and will be produced by Caprice Conley, with cinematography by Jonas Navickas. The film’s tagline is as follows; “They stole the wrong car... Now heads are gonna’ roll."

“The inception of Ripped-Off honestly started when I was winding down filming my last two features in Europe and England,” stated Sutton (her last feature currently in release, the gritty Andrew Howard and Barbara Nedeljakova-starring crime thriller Isle of Dogs, bowed to DVD via Green Apples on January 28, 2014.)

“When I was there and homesick for Los Angeles,...

Fantasy 'Doctor Who': Who would you pick as the 12th Doctor?
Before the week is out we will know the identity of the 12th Doctor. Man, woman, black, ginger, disabled, cat, dog... we couldn't care less anymore, we just want to know who it is. The tension is killing us.

In an attempt to try to keep us busy until the big reveal on Sunday night (August 4), Digital Spy has been doing some fantasy Doctor Who casting.

Keep reading to find out who we would like to see taking over from Matt Smith in the Tardis.

Jamie Dornan - Alex Fletcher, Deputy Editor

I always prefer Doctor Who when it has a darker and more sinister tone, so ideally I'd like the BBC to pick someone who is more Eccleston than Tennant in style. If I was truly in fantasy land, I'd go for Andrew Lincoln, but he's currently far too busy kicking zombie ass on The Walking Dead.

So if I can't have Lincoln,...
