Dolly Parton’s Sister Defends Elle King After She Appeared On Stage ‘Hammered’ & Forgot Words To Song At Grand Ole Opry
Image
Singer Elle King is facing criticism for her performance at the Grand Ole Opry last week.

The singer was slammed by fans for appearing to take the stage under the influence of alcohol. Several concertgoers captured her slurring her words, using coarse language and telling the audience she was” hammered” and then began to perform Parton’s 2001 song “Marry Me,” during which she appeared to forget the words.

The Grand Ole Opry issued an official apology. “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance,” the statement read.

Dolly Parton Sings To Fan With Stage-Four Cancer Fulfilling His Dying Wish To Meet Her
Image
LeGrand Gold, a man with stage four colorectal cancer, got his dying wish to meet Dolly Parton.

In December, he received from Parton allowing him to have one of his ten dying wishes, which were written on a napkin, granted.

Gold has been battling cancer since 2021. In early December, he was given bad news during a doctor’s visit.

“The scans showed the cancer spreading and getting outside of my liver, and so they said the chemo is not working anymore, the radiation is not working anymore,” Gold told CNN. “They just sent me home and said be with your family.”

On December 25, Gold’s wife, Alice Wills Gold, posted a reel on Instagram showing a video of him speaking to Parton over the phone.

“And I forgot to tell you all that Papa G got to meet Dolly P! Wishes come true! Dream big, y’all,” Wills Gold wrote in the caption.

Loretta Lynn death: ‘Original queen of country music’ dies aged 90
Image
Loretta Lynn, the Kentucky coal miner’s daughter whose songs about life and love as a woman in Appalachia touched millions, has died aged 90.

In a statement provided to The Associated Press, Lynn’s family said she died on Tuesday (4 October) at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Her cause of death has not been disclosed.

Lynn launched her career in the early Sixties, when she already had four children.

Her songs, which painted a portrait of the musician as a tough, defiant woman, were in stark contrast to the stereotypical image of most female country singers at the time. She wrote unapologetically about sex and love, cheating husbands, divorce and birth control.

Lynn’s biggest hits came in the 1960s and 1970s, including “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, “You Ain’t Woman Enough”, “The Pill”, “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)”, “Rated X” and “You...

Dolly Parton's Faith Was "the Most Important Thing" to Her Survival While Growing Up (Exclusive)
Even though Dolly Parton's beloved Smoky Mountains were devastated by deadly wildfires in 2016, she knew the "mountain strong" people affected by the natural disaster would rise again. "Everybody's got that spiritual background," she said of the locals who live in the same area where she spent her humble early years. "I think that good neighbors and faith and trust in God — and in one another — helps everyone pull together as a team. You got to pull as a community; as a family. That's the only way you can keep going." Her strong faith is what has helped the country legend, 72, pull herself through some of the toughest struggles in her own life. Dolly and her husband, Carl. (Photo Credit: R/R) "I hurt like everybody else. I'm not always happy," Dolly has admitted, and she's faced several hurdles and heartaches through the years, including a family tragedy when she...

Ask the Flying Monkey! Should a Waiter Stop Anti-Gay Talk? Plus, Inadvertently Gay Male Duets!
This week! Do people have a right to be obnoxiously gay in public? What famous divas also have singing sisters? What popular songs are really gay duets? More!

Have a question about gay male entertainment or need life advice? Contact me here (and be sure and include your city and state and/or country!)

Q: I am curious about duets by mainstream artists with other men, specifically love songs, and more specifically overtly gay ones — or at least those that could be interpreted as such. I think back to RuPaul and Elton John’s remake of “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart” on his Duets album and how excited I was, novelty notwithstanding, that it was a duet between two men. I love the hell out of Robbie Williams because of his “Swing While You’re Winning” tribute album, because it has a straight-up gay duet with Rupert Everett and...
