Joshua Jackson Speaks Out on ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Cancellation: ‘I’m Sad We Don’t Get to Go Back and Do It Again’
Image
Joshua Jackson isn’t sure why “Doctor Odyssey” was canceled by ABC after one season, but he will miss the wacky medical drama.

In a new interview, the actor, who portrayed cruise line doctor Max Bankman, said that he’s “always bummed out when a show gets canceled” and that he “really, really enjoyed the experience” he had on the Ryan Murphy series.

“That was a really good group of people, and it was a really fun show,” he told People, adding that he definitely will miss the cast. “But this is a crazy and difficult business, and whatever the reasons were for them not wanting to move forward with it, they don’t actually tell us those things… It’s a bummer we don’t get to do it again, but I’m happy for the time that we got.”

He noted that he hopes the audience got the...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Remains at Dock, Even as ABC Insists It’s Not Canceled
Image
Doctor Odyssey won’t be setting sail for a second season — for now, and maybe not ever. But ABC maintains that the series hasn’t been canceled, even as its cast is on the verge of being free to pursue other work.

The series, co-created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, was the only scripted ABC show whose future was up in the air as the 2024-25 season came to a close. ABC has repeatedly said that it’s still weighing the show’s future: Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told The Hollywood Reporter in May that “We’re continuing to have creative conversations with Ryan, and we’ll talk to him about what the next chapter looks like.”

Yet as those conversations were happening, Doctor Odyssey’s sets were being struck, sources tell THR, and contract options for the cast are set to expire Monday.

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Canceled at ABC After One Season
Image
“Doctor Odyssey” has been canceled after one season on ABC.

Since April, the Ryan Murphy-created medical drama has been the network’s only scripted series for which a renewal or cancellation had not been announced, and Variety has now confirmed that the cast’s contracts expire on Monday with no move from ABC to put the series back on its schedule for the upcoming year.

The news also comes after three of the show’s former crew members filed a lawsuit against Disney and 20th Television on May 30, alleging that the studio enabled an “unchecked campaign of sexual harassment for months” and accusing assistant prop master Tyler Patton of making “sexual jokes, innuendos, comments, sexual gestures and images” in addition to “unwanted touching” including “openly grabbing a visiting female employee’s buttocks.”

'Doctor Odyssey' Crewmembers Bring Sexual Harassment Suit Against Hit Disney Series
Image
Former crewmembers from Doctor Odysseyhave brought a sexual harassment lawsuit against 20th Television and Disney.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, three former crewmembers from the hit series, Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner, filed a lawsuit on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court that claims the trio were the targets of an "unchecked campaign of sexual harassment" during which a superior on the set consistently subjected them to unwarranted advances, unwanted touching, and sexually-charged comments. Mack, Haverland, and Steinbrenner also allege that they were fired after lodging formal complaints about the misconduct.

The three plaintiffs all reported to assistant prop master Tyler Patton, who was previously involved in a lawsuit lodged by a former Universal Network Television employee. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the complaint claimed that "Patton had groped the plaintiff's genitals on set and invited others from different production departments to engage in sexual activity." Patton's supervisor on the...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Crew Members Sue Over Alleged Sexual Harassment on Set
Image
The production of Doctor Odyssey has hit choppy waters. Three former crew members from the ABC series have sued 20th Television and Disney over alleged sexual harassment on set. Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland, and Ava Steinbrenner filed the suit on Friday, May 30, in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to Variety. They alleged that former Doctor Odyssey assistant prop master Tyler Patton would subject them to “sexual jokes, innuendos, comments, sexual gestures, and images,” and they accused him of “unwanted touching,” including “openly grabbing a visiting female employee’s buttocks.” In one example listed in the lawsuit, Patton allegedly sent prop department employees a link that appeared to lead to a political news story but instead led to a sexually explicit photo. Patton also allegedly told one of the plaintiffs, “Come over here and open your mouth, here’s the worm.” The plaintiffs claimed Patton’s alleged behavior would happen “daily...

Disney Faces Harassment Suit From Doctor Odyssey Crew
Don Johnson, Joshua Jackson, Sean Teale, and Phillipa Soo in Doctor Odyssey (2024)
Three former crew members on ABC’s medical dramedy Doctor Odyssey have sued Disney and producer 20th Television in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that studio executives tolerated months of sexual harassment and retaliation during the show’s first-season shoot.

The plaintiffs—props assistants Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner—say assistant prop master Tyler Patton subjected them to unwanted touching, crude comments and pornographic “pranks,” conduct the complaint brands an “unchecked campaign of sexual harassment.”

The suit contends that Patton’s wife Tammie, the production’s lead prop master, and other supervisors retaliated when the women reported the behavior, relegating them to demeaning tasks and threatening their jobs even after the union and human-resources departments were notified. According to the filing, management later dismissed the entire props team—save for Patton’s eventual replacement—and the plaintiffs have since been “blacklisted” from Disney sets.

Disney and 20th Television...

Former ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Crewmembers Sue Disney Over Alleged ‘Campaign of Sexual Harassment’ on Set
Image
Former “Doctor Odyssey” crewmembers sued 20th Television and Disney Friday over alleged sexual harassment on set of the medical dramedy.

Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner alleged that they were targets of a “unchecked campaign of sexual harassment” at the hands of their supervisor. The three women reported to assistant prop master Tyler Patton and accused him of bombarding them with unwanted sexual comments and inappropriate touching.

The former crewmembers said that they were fired after complaining about the alleged misconduct. Patton’s supervisor was his wife Tammie Patton. The three women claimed that they have been blacklisted from working on 20th and Disney productions since.

The lawsuit goes on to detail a work culture in which Tyler and his male colleagues frequently commented on their sexual preferences, waiting for the reactions from the women around them. It also specifically outlines a time when Tyler told one of the...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Crewmembers Sue Disney for Alleged Sexual Harassment on Set, ‘Blacklisting’ Them After Filing Complaint
Image
Three former crewmembers on the ABC medical series “Doctor Odyssey” are suing 20th Century and its parent company Disney for allegedly enabling an “unchecked campaign of sexual harassment for months” on the set of the series.

In the suit, filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, plaintiffs Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner claim that Tyler Patton, the assistant prop master on “Doctor Odyssey,” would subject the three to “sexual jokes, innuendos, comments, sexual gestures and images” as well as “unwanted touching,” such as “openly grabbing a visiting female employee’s buttocks.”

In one account contained in the suit, Patton allegedly sent prop department employees a story appearing to reference news that President Biden had dropped out of the 2024 election. But the link redirected to a picture of a naked male with an erect penis. Other comments allegedly made by Patton include calling one of the plaintiffs a “chick...

Ex-‘Doctor Odyssey’ Crew Members Sue Disney, 20th TV Claiming Sexual Harassment And Wrongful Termination
Image
Three former members of the props department on ABC’s medical drama Doctor Odyssey filed a lawsuit Friday against the network’s parent company Disney and producer 20th Television, alleging they were subject to sexual harassment on the set of the series and eventually retaliated against and terminated when they complained about it.

The suit, filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, says the plaintiffs — Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner — were hired in late spring/early summer 2024 to work in the new series’ props department. The defendants then hired Tammie Patton as Prop Master and her husband Tyler Patton as Assistant Prop Master who supervised and directed the plaintiffs in their work.

The suit claims the props department “was an unlawful den of sexual harassment and retaliation,” and that the plaintiffs were subject to “an an unchecked campaign of sexual harassment for months” by “Taylor Patton and his male buddies.

Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland and Ava Steinbrenner, in a lawsuit filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claim they were targets of an “unchecked campaign of sexual harassment” in which their supervisor bombarded them with sexual comments and unwanted touching. They say they were ultimately fired after they complained of the alleged misconduct to management.

The plaintiffs reported to assistant prop master Tyler Patton, whose supervisor was his wife Tammie Patton. Tyler Patton was previously involved in a lawsuit from a former Universal Network Television employee, who advanced sexual harassment and retaliation allegations on the set of House. In that complaint, the employee Carl Jones claimed Patton groped his genitals and invited women from various production departments to engage in sexual activity.
