Biography

He was an animator and a specialist in the use of animation techniques. He became best known for his work as one of the "special photographic effects supervisors" on Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968).

His first feature film work was on Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968). His work contributed to the film winning the Academy Award for Visual Effects although Kubrick was credited with the effects work (Kubrick's only Academy Award).

In 1971, he was the uncredited co-founder, with fellow animator, Robert Abel, of Robert Abel and Associates. They became famous for their groundbreaking and effects laden television commercials including the award-winning "Bubbles" commercial for the soft drink 7Up.

In 1999, he was one of the winners of The Winsor McKay Award for his contributions to animation.

He was a pioneer in the use of computer graphics in the entertainment industry for its applications in the production of television commercials.
