Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ is making waves and rightly so. But the show’s narrative so far spotlights one glaring omission from Dexter: New Blood: Harrison’s half-siblings, Cody and Astor. The two characters, who were a part of the original series’ main cast, remain unmentioned, even in the second reboot of the franchise.
While we have only gotten to Dexter: Resurrection Episode 3 so far, the blatant removal of these characters from the show, or rather, Harrison and Dexter Morgan’s memory, is not sitting right with longtime fans of the franchise. While the two were not mentioned in New Blood (via Screen Rant), fans held high hopes for their appearance in the most recent reboot. Let’s dive into why this omission stings viewers who have been with the franchise since its early days.

It’s been 20 years since Dean (Jensen Ackles) first picked up Sam (Jared Padalecki) from his apartment in Stanford. Can you believe that? Supernatural recently celebrated its pilot’s 20th anniversary, and fans still can’t get enough of the trio of Dean, Sam, and Castiel (Misha Collins). While streaming gives some leverage to network TV shows like Suits that get a whole spin-off based on the streaming success. Supernatural has shown its mettle by dominating Nielsen charts.
Per Deadline, Supernatural made it into the Nielsen’s Top 20 (Overall) at the 15th spot, outdoing new hits like The White Lotus and old favorites like Friends. The Eric Kripke series garnered 11.9B minutes viewed in the first half of the year for Netflix. This is promising news given the streamer’s rights to the CW show is expected to end this year, but in light of the viewership record, Netflix will certainly renew the deal,...

The New York Times has polled a number of cinematic luminaries to determine the best 100 films of the 21st century, and the list's top thriller is Mulholland Drive, the late David Lynch's surreal neo-noir mystery. At #2, behind only Bong Joon Ho's Oscar-winning Parasite, Mulholland Drive is also the top English-language film on the list. Although the film underwent a torturous process to get from page to screen, and wasn't a box-office smash, it is considered to be one of Lynch's masterpieces.
Mulholland Drive's production was an unusual one, even by the standards of David Lynch. The project was originally intended to be a TV series for ABC with an open-ended central mystery, much like Lynch's earlier TV project Twin Peaks. However, ABC executives were dissatisfied with Lynch's cut, and cancelled the project in 1999; Lynch then took it to StudioCanal, who financed Lynch to restructure the footage...

If there was one thing that Supernatural always excelled at executing, it was meta comedy. From the early seasons, the series has been poking fun at anything it possibly could, transitioning from just humor to something more cleverly self-referential. There are many examples, ranging from Dean looking directly at the viewers when he first found out about Destiel to the entire character of Chuck/God, and even getting thrown into the real world, where Sam and Dean are in the bodies of Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
Considering the fact that Chuck’s character is a direct mockery of the writers of the series, it would seem that nothing is off the table when the series wants to make a joke. While most of its jokes are often direct and easy to catch, there was one joke in the eleventh season that referenced the DC universe in the most clever manner possible.

"Locke and Key" is one of the best comic book series of the 2000s. It's an incredible fantasy-horror work with stunning art by Gabriel Rodríguez and a compelling narrative that manages to be both whimsical and mature, with young characters that act like kids yet are not looked down upon or treated as lesser than the adults. The comics also mix a bit of Amblin in with a lot of Stephen King to tell a phenomenal story about growing up -- one that's as scary as it is heartfelt, which is fitting since the comic was written by King's son Joe Hill (who also wrote the short story "The Black Phone" is based on).
With a comic as good as "Locke & Key," it was inevitable that it would be brought to the screen. Sure enough, in 2020, Netflix debuted the first season of its three-season TV adaptation. Season 1 was largely...

Supernatural has forever raged as one of the most outstanding horror-mystery shows out there, with Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki unarguably giving the best performance of their entire careers as the Winchester brothers. For the first five seasons of the total fifteen seasons that it ran for, Erik Kripke curated some of the best plotlines for the masterpiece.
But then, after making five outstanding seasons, the brainbox decided to step down as the showrunner by concluding the saga’s main storyline, paving the way for other showrunners to take his place to continue the series for ten more seasons. And, in Ackles’ words, the plotline that had Kripke deciding to leave felt ‘like Game Seven of the World Series.’

Jeff Bridges has had an illustrious career. He's worked with some of Hollywood's greatest directors and has been nominated for seven Academy Awards. However, for many people, he'll always be associated with the 1998 comedy classic, The Big Lebowski, which, if the legendary actor had his way, would be receiving a sequel.
Per Deadline, Bridges attended a screening for The Big Lebowski in Los Angeles and was asked whether he'd be interested in reprising his iconic role of The Dude in a potential sequel. The acclaimed actor would confirm that not only would he be more than willing to return, but that his The Big Lebowski co-star Julianne Moore would as well. "Of course," Bridges said. "Julianne and I would fantasize about that. We did another movie together, Seventh Son, she played a witch in that movie. And we would often say, ‘Gee it’s all set up for a sequel.

Just five days before Lucifer strutted onto screens, Supernatural pulled off one of its sneakiest moves — an episode that felt like a pre-launch roast. With a smooth-talking devil in a sharp suit, the timing wasn’t just suspicious, it was downright savage.
The Winchester boys didn’t name names, but the message was loud and clear: they’d been running with the devil long before it was cool. It was clever, chaotic, and classic Supernatural, dropping a not-so-subtle wink at a show that hadn’t even aired.

Of course, John Lithgow wins the award for the best guest star on Dexter. It’s impossible to forget his menacing character The Trinity Killer. The same goes for other high-profile stars who appeared on one or more seasons, like Keith Carradine, Julia Stiles, Colin Hanks, Mark Pellegrino, Jimmy Smits, and Yvonne Strahovski.
But beyond these few, there were many stars who had guest roles on the show, some even for multiple seasons, that fans who originally watched almost 20 years ago may have forgotten about. In some cases, these actors didn’t get their big breakout role, or at least the role that fans of this generation know them for, until after they were on Dexter. But for fans watching or re-watching now, it’s a pleasant surprise to see them pop up.

The beginning of 2025 saw the tragic loss of David Lynch, a one-of-a-kind filmmaker whose unique vision and groundbreaking filmography have shaped a generation of moviegoers and cinephiles. In light of his passing, David Lynch enthusiasts, both old and new, have been revisiting the director's vast back catalog, which consists of various shorts, television projects, and feature films. In March, Paramount+ will be home to two more of Lynch's works for viewers to enjoy, with his 1984 adaptation of Dune and his seminal work Mulholland Drive hitting the streaming platform on March 1st. Both movies represent different highs (and lows) in the director's storied career and speak to his unmatched influence on genre films that continues to this day.

One of the most crucial elements of a movie is making the audience feel affected by its ending. The best conclusions in cinema are the ones that have a grand sense of ambiguity, or the idea that things are left open to further interpretation. While movies traditionally leave things on closed notes, many have taken risks and given viewers endings that either don't completely answer everything or end things abruptly in a good way.
These movie endings have become legendary because of their shocking cuts to black, haunting final shots, or other factors that cause audiences to become speechless. Even though many questions are raised, viewers get the chance to piece things together and find an understanding of what the ending means. Between Inception,American Psycho, and The Thing, these movies and their final moments are made better by the ambiguity applied to them.

Comedy and Hollywood icon Eddie Murphy is all set to return to the world of action comedy, but not as Beverly Hills Cop’s Axel Foley. No, this time, Murphy will lead the original action outing Blue Falcon, which finds the Shrek star channeling James Bond as a retired superspy who finds himself in danger while attending his son’s wedding.
According to Deadline, Blue Falcon will be “a two-hander action comedy,” with Sony Pictures having now picked up the rights to the project. If the idea of Eddie Murphy as a retired superspy is not quite enough to have you excited for the action movie shenanigans to come, Blue Falcon has been written by Chad St. John, whose previous writing credits include the action thriller Peppermint starring Jennifer Garner, the Gerard Butler-led action sequel London Has Fallen, and the upcoming Motor City starring Reacher’s Alan Ritchson.

An early story on Supernatural for Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) shared many aspects with another storyline within the Buffy The Vampire Slayer spinoff Angel. Many of Supernatural's best episodes focused on the fantastic monsters, lore, and action as well as the unbreakable bond between the Winchester brothers, weaving the two together often to increase the series' emotional and even physical tension. However, the Winchester's individual stories also helped amplify that tension, with Sam's ever-shifting arc shaping many of the early events of the series.
Sam's story in Supernatural often seemed to mirror Dean's (Jensen Ackles), especially as the two brothers were used by Heaven in Hell in the first few seasons of the show. Sam's associations with Hell not only complicated his arc but also allowed the series to naturally increase the stakes as both angelic and demonic forces closed in on the brothers. Supernatural had an array of interesting and compelling villains, thanks to its expansive mythology created over fifteen seasons. However, one Biblical character stood out from the rest and was initially the big bad villain of the five-season arc planned by series creator Eric Kripke. As a result, it is safe to say that Lucifer is one of the show’s best villains.

Crowley's (Mark Shepperd) backstory in Supernatural, specifically how and when he died and became a demon, is largely alluded to throughout the show but ultimately amounts to a series of particulars. Crowley was one of Supernatural's best-supporting characters whose wit, knowledge, and ever-shifting allegiances kept audiences on their toes throughout the twelve seasons he was featured on the series. However, not much was known about Crowley before his untimely departure, which was mostly due to his cold nature and desire for secrecy.
Crowley's motivations and actions were always done with ruthless calculation, though his later desire to break convention as he helped Supernatural's Winchester brothers in his own way seemed to act as a counterpoint to that ruthlessness. Some of that may be due to Crowley's real-life influence, but in other ways, that could have been due to his past haunting him, making his evolution from villain...

For 15 years, Supernatural was arguably one of the biggest brands that The CW had to offer. While the network excelled with teen dramas such as Gossip Girl and Riverdale and had a vampire dynasty under The Vampire Diaries umbrella, no series was as long-running or popular. Supernatural first premiered in 2005, casting television heartthrobs Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as monster hunter brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester, respectively. Due to its humor, emotional resonance, and mythological lore, Supernatural became a cult classic.

When the topic of fantasy TV shows arises, viewers tend to think of series like Game of Thrones and The Rings of Power examples that very clearly fit the genre. These shows tend to be high fantasy, and they take place in worlds full of the extraordinary. With so many projects trying to copy Game of Thrones' success, there's no shortage of straightforward fantasy stories to dive into. However, there are also great fantasy shows that blend their magical settings and themes with other genres.
Fantasy and horror are a common combination, as anything supernatural tends to fall into both categories. However, some series even successfully blend fantasy with sci-fi, romance, and comedy; the possibilities are endless. Dipping into multiple categories alone doesn't ensure these shows are good, though. Such projects need to strike the right balance of both genres to succeed, and only a handful of fantasy TV shows accomplish that.

An underrated crime thriller starring Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White is now available to stream for free. The actor has enjoyed an already impressive career since breaking onto the scene in 2011 as Lip Gallagher in Shameless. In addition to numerous indie films like The Rental and Fingernails, White played Kerry Von Erich in A24's The Iron Claw and, of course, Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto in FX and Hulu's The Bear. He is also currently filming Deliver Me from Nowhere, a Bruce Springsteen biopic in which White plays the Boss himself.
Sometimes entries in an actor's filmography are released to little fanfare and await rediscovery. Lucifer is one of the biggest parts of Supernatural, despite his position as an antagonist, but without him, the story is incomplete. While Supernatural had a spectacular 15 season run from 2005 to 2020, there is a large population of fans who want the show to return for a season 16. However, season 15 gave the core cast a final send-off, with Dean Winchester dying and making peace with this, and Sam having the opportunity to go on and live a normal life.
But, in order to get to that resolution, there were a lot of major events that occurred with the entire world and universe on the brink of destruction. Supernatural Review: A Devilishly Good Horror Mystery Series With One Of The Best Dynamic Duos On TV
Supernatural redefined supernatural horror and action shows thanks to its unique storytelling and compelling characters. From the first episode, which aired way back in 2005, to the series finale in 2020, Supernatural enjoyed 15 spectacular seasons, with a total of 327 episodes, and it absolutely earned that incredible runtime due to the show delivering one of the best character-focused shows on TV. While the writing is thrilling and plays with genre, the crowning jewel of the show is its primary characters, Sam and Dean Winchester.

Fantasy TV shows typically have plot-heavy storylines that allow for many seasons, but that doesn't mean there aren't some series that overstay their welcome. This typically happens in the last few seasons of a show when the plot lines begin to grow repetitive or jump the shark. The last few installments might not necessarily be bad, but compared with the rest of the series, they don't live up to the expectations set by the strongest seasons. When it comes to television, it's always better to end early on a tight script rather than dragging out and tainting the show's legacy.
Some great fantasy TV shows deserve more seasons, and it's a shame when a series is canceled before its time when another project has been going on for years. However, popularity and ratings play into how many seasons a show gets, and when a series has been consistently renewed for many seasons,...

When a TV show is on the air for long enough, it's unsurprising when certain stories come back several times throughout the series. This differs from a procedural show that follows the same formula in every episode, as these projects are digestible for a wide variety of audiences and allow viewers to jump into the action. However, there have been plenty of instances when a serialized show retreads the same dynamics and character arcs throughout the seasons. There's nothing worse than when a TV show abandons a major storyline, but seeing the same storyline over and over is also frustrating.
It makes sense that TV shows would want to keep the quality and tone consistent, and retreading past plot points is an easy way to do this.

American Rust, the gripping crime drama, has faced cancelation once again (per Deadline). Prime Video, after rescuing the series from oblivion, has decided not to renew it for a third season. Despite the show only beginning to navigate its way through a second season, which premiered on Prime Video on March 28, 2024, and was titled American Rust: Broken Justice, the streamers decision not to go through with the renewal seems anticipatory. Especially now that Maura Tierney has been cast as a series regular on NBCs Law & Order.
American Rust debuted on Showtime in September 2021 but before that, it faced several early setbacks. When it finally found a home on the premium cable network and found a star and executive producer in Jeff Daniels, it failed to garner strong ratings and was canceled. Amazon Freevee stepped in to rescue the show in June 2022 and the crime drama eventually migrated to sibling Prime Video,...

American Rust has been canceled for a second time. Prime Video has opted not to renew the drama starring Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney for a third season, Deadline has confirmed. Beverly Hills Cop and Shrek star Eddie Murphy once voiced the beloved 70s cartoon crimefighter Hong Kong Phooey, and test footage from the ill-fated live-action adaptation of the iconic Hanna-Barbera series has now resurfaced. Murphy, who is no stranger to voicing animated characters thanks to the likes of Donkey and Mulans Mushu the dragon, was cast as the live action Hong Kong Phooey back in 2011, with the project intending to use the same technique as Sonic the Hedgehog, realizing a CGI character in the real-world.
Produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and originally broadcast on ABC, Hong Kong Phooey took advantage of the huge popularity that martial arts, kung fu, and movies from Hong Kong saw during the 1970s in Hollywood. The live action outing would have been based on the cult classic cartoon series, which introduces audiences to a mild-mannered dog named Penrod "Penry" Pooch, who works as a janitor at the local police station.

Dexter's variety of characters ranged from best to worst, showcasing the show's depth and complexity in storytelling. Some characters like Maria Laguerta and Debra Morgan stood out as complex, well-developed personalities that added depth to the narrative. On the other hand, characters like Miguel Prado and Lumen Pierce failed to deliver on their potential, disappointing fans of the show.
Throughout its eight seasons, Dexter introduced viewers to various characters beyond the titular serial killer, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). Due to the fact that showrunners Clyde Phillips, Chip Johannessen, and Scott Buck were mindful to fill each episode with a wide variety of different personalities, the gap between the best Dexter characters and the worst in the show is vast. One of the best traits of the show is its variety of characters and the psychology behind them although not every Dexter character felt like a worthwhile addition to the narrative.

Axel Foley is tired, man.
The veteran lawman literally says so not an hour into in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, when rather than slip into yet another colorful persona/accent to finagle himself a room at (yes, the) Beverly Palms Hotel, he stops himself mid-bit, lets out an exhausted sigh, and instead just opens his wallet.

The Others, led by Ben Linus, were a significant source of conflict for the main characters on the island. They had a history dating back to the 1950s and were followers of Jacob, the Protector of the Island. Jacob manipulated events to bring people to the island, and the Others' leaders were chosen through a process of observation and testing.
The Others have a history that greatly predates the time Losts main characters spent on the island. Not long after the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, Jacks group came to discover that they werent alone. They shared the island with a group known as the Others. Led by Ben Linus, the Others provided the main source of conflict for the shows first three seasons, while also factoring heavily into several other stories as well.
Over the course of Lost's six-season run, Lost delved deep into the history of the islands many inhabitants.

In a world where AI deepfakes can crash markets and fake news can disrupt elections, preserving the truth is more important than ever. Of course, that’s something Lost diehards have understood for a long time. That’s because fans of ABC’s early 2000s sci-fi drama know that misinformation can do something far worse than endanger the fate of the world: it can cause someone to misinterpret the ending of your favorite TV show.
The final episode of Lost first premiered on Sunday, May 23, 2010. From the moment that credits began to roll on “The End,” folks have continually misunderstood what actually happened. The phenomenon began that very night, with none other than the paper of record, The New York Times, publishing an episodic review that misinterpreted a key element of the finale. Over the years, that initial misinterpretation has evolved into an unshakable pop cultural meme: “Lost?...

When Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is released next month, it will have been 30 years since the last installment, 1994's Beverly Hills Cop III. Franchise lead Eddie Murphy recently opened up about why it took decades to find the right story for the fourth movie.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Murphy revealed that the "reason why the movie didn't come together for years and years and years is because, in all the scripts that I read, there was no evolution." He explained, "It was just, 'Axel's coming back now, and he's on a new mission.' It was like, 'Okay, now this has happened.' It was just the generic things. 'This happens, and that happens, then this happens, and that happens.' And nothing worked."
