- Just weeks before her death, the Canadian Arts Council honored her for her remarkable stage career in awarding her the Molson Prize. The theater occupied by the Nouvelle Compagnie théâtrale, in which she gave so many performances, was renamed in her honor, along with the Prix du Québec's prize given in honor of a distinguished career in the performing arts, now called the "Prix Denise-Pelletier".
- She was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on December 19, 1969 for her services to Canadian-French Drama in Canada.
- Her husband Basil Zarov was a famous photographer whose portraits include ones of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Gabrielle Roy, Dr. Hans Seyle and Jean Paul Riopelle.
