The ninth annual ceremony, broadcast live in Tokyo and streamed on Crunchyroll, featured an international group of presenters, including Grammy-winning country star Kacey Musgraves, Stranger Things castmates Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo, Colombian singer J Balvin, Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, and Avengers screenwriter Zak Penn.

In addition to the winners selected by a worldwide fan vote (a record 51 million ballots were cast), the Anime Awards bestowed the first Global Impact Award, celebrating "visionary creators and groundbreaking works that have left an indelible mark on culture, history, and the hearts of audiences around the world," to the Attack on Titan franchise. The series premiered in 2013 and concluded in 2024.

Crunchyroll announced that the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards have set a new record, with over 51 million votes cast by fans worldwide.

This marks a nearly 50% increase from last year’s 34 million votes.

The ninth annual event will take place on May 25, 2025, at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo.

The live ceremony will feature performances by Japanese singer LiSA, hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, and rock band Flow.

Flow will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Eureka Seven with a special performance of Days.

Japanese voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira will host the event. Notable presenters will include global music artist J Balvin, Grammy-winning singer Kacey Musgraves, and screenwriter Zak Penn.

Hiroki Totoki, President and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, will deliver opening remarks.

The Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar has admitted that he annoyed co-stars on the classic sitcom by often breaking character. Nayyar memorably played astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali on the CBS sitcom.

Nayyar reflected on the early seasons of the sitcom for his appearance on The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast, where he said it was hard for him to keep a straight face while filming many of the funniest scenes. The actor light-heartedly fessed up that he was "the worst in the beginning on the show" because he "broke all the time."

Although Max's The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, has been in development for years and still has yet to receive an official green light, Warner Bros. Television's Chairperson and CEO Channing Dungey is feeling positive about where the series is going. The Big Bang Theory spinoff has taken another step toward a likely series greenlight at Max. The four stars of the project, which Deadline revealed last week will be titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, convened at Warner Bros. Studios March 24.
