I love X-Men. I love Stranger Things. What would it be like if you were to combine the two? Well, gee, I'd have to say I'd love that so much my head might fall off. Well... somebody please hold on to my head.

Over 20 years after helming an episode of America’s Most Wanted -- yes, that long-running docuseries hosted by John Walsh -- director Greg Yaitanes is back in the true crime world following his transition into prestige TV with House, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and most recently, Cinemax’s Banshee and Quarry. Now, he’s the showrunner of Discovery Channel’s anticipated new anthology series, Manhunt, which debuts its first season, Unabomber, on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The first season follows FBI agent and criminal profiler James “Fitz” Fitzgerald (Sam Worthington) as he pioneers new forensic linguistics to find and ultimately capture Ted Kaczynski (Paul Bettany), the nation’s deadliest serial bomber in history. The 8-episode series written by Andrew Sodroski (scribe of Holland, Michigan, which topped Hollywood’s 2013 Black List) offers a perspective of the FBI’s hunt not often seen.

With just one week left until Cars 3 hits theaters nationwide, Disney Pixar has released a final trailer, set to The Eagles' classic 1975 song "Take It to the Limit." The trailer features more scenes with the iconic Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) reaching the end of his career, with newcomers like Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer) speeding past him at every turn, along with more footage of that big Lightning crash we've seen in earlier trailers. This final trailer also features new footage of Lightning's longtime friend Sally (Bonnie Hunt), who tells Lightning that he shouldn't be afraid of failure.

As scary as a cabin in the woods can be, one of the most disturbing backdrops for a film can be the college culture, where horrors that are all too real sometimes take place. Such is the case in Natalie Leite’s M.F.A., which made its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival (read Heather's review here) and has now been acquired for Us distribution by Dark Sky Films.

Don’t let the post-apocalyptic handle fool you, though; Montiel’s feature is a character drama first and foremost, and early signs point to Labeouf turning in a raw, heartfelt performance as U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer.

Upon returning home from a harrowing tour in Afghanistan, our damaged lead begins a desperate search to find estranged son Jonathan (Charlie Shotwell) and wife, Natalie (Kate Mara). It’s here that Man Down places a laser focus on the ways in which the horrors of war can erode one’s psyche to the point of mental collapse. Dito Montiel helped lead Shia Labeouf to one of his best performances exactly a decade ago with A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. While both the director and actor’s careers have been up and down since that collaboration, we’re certainly curious about a reteam. Their latest effort, the Ptsd drama Man Down, premiered over a year ago at Venice International Film Festival, but now it’ll finally be landing in theaters this December and the first trailer has landed.

We said in our review from Venice last year, “Labeouf and Montiel, who thrive on intensity in their respective professions, sometimes to the expense of subtlety, were both crying profusely after the film’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. It’s not difficult to imagine their care and commitment to a harrowing and personal dive into Ptsd territory, as misguided as it turned out to be.”

Dito Montiel is responsible for bringing out of Shia La Beouf one of his most empathetic performances with his directorial debut, A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. Filmed in 2006 before the more-method-than-Brando actor embarked on a frankly loony series of highly-publicized stunts, he put in a solid turn. Now that the duo are collaborating once more for Man Down, it does bring into question La Beouf’s infamous bag-wearing incident, during which he made sure it was known he was out of the ‘biz.

In the film, La Beouf plays U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer, who lives in a future American dystopia. Setting off to find his estranged wife (Kate Mara) and son, he brings along his best buddy Devin (Jai Courtney) and the pair commence on tracking down what remains of his family.

Since the channel was launched in 2009 to accompany the ITV1 show, videos from the likes of Susan Boyle, Diversity and Natalie Okri have racked up a massive total number of views. In spite of not being a household name (yet), Anna Kendrick has notched up a diverse and interesting selection of roles in her relatively short career, including Scott Pilgrim’s sharp-witted and slightly scary sister, the very sweet and somewhat out of her depth Natalie in Up in the Air – for which she received an Oscar nomination, as well as putting in the only watchable performances in the entire Twilight saga.

She’s also a massive film fan, and for that reason alone we absolutely love her.
