‘4400’ Canceled By the CW After One Season
Image
The 4400′s comeback was short-lived. The CW has canceled the freshman series after one low-rated season.

Based on the original TV series created by Scott Peters and Renee Echevarria, 4400 hails from Riverdale co-executive producer Ariana Jackson, who wrote the pilot; Sunil Nayar; and Anna Fricke and Laura Terry of Pursued By a Bear.

In 4400, over the last century at least 4,400 people who were overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized vanished without a trace off the face of the planet. Last night, inexplicably, they were all returned in an instant to Detroit having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat and contain the story, Jharrel (Joseph David-Jones), an empathetic social worker, and Keisha (Ireon Roach), a hardened community corrections officer, are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees.

4400 stars Brittany Adebumola as Shanice,...

The CW Unveils Weeklong Fall 2021 Primetime Schedule and Midseason Debuts
Image
The CW has released its new, seven-night primetime schedule for 2021-2022, filled with competitive games, DC superheroes, supernatural happenings, football and an inaugural Saturday night dedicated to laughs.

This strategic mix of new and returning original scripted series and alternative programming was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, chairman and chief executive officer of The CW.

“This year, as we begin to return to more normalized production schedules, The CW is firing on all cylinders. The CW dares to defy by expanding our primetime schedule to include Saturday night and becoming a full 14-hour, seven-day-a-week broadcast network for the first time in its history, offering more original series on both our linear and digital platforms, providing more opportunities for our advertisers and affiliates,” Pedowitz said. “We are rolling out an exciting line-up of our signature returning series which will be joined this upcoming season by the new, reimagined ‘4400’ and the highly anticipated,...

‘4400’ Reboot at CW Casts Joseph David-Jones, Khailah Johnson
Image
The “4400” reboot at The CW has cast Joseph David-Jones and Khaliah Johnson, Variety has learned.

The reboot was ordered to series at The CW in February. In the show, 4400 overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people who vanished without a trace over the last hundred years are all returned in an instant, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to analyze the potential threat and contain the story, the 4400 themselves must grapple with the fact that they’ve been returned with a few upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were all brought back now for a specific reason.

David-Jones will play Rev Johnson, who was raised in a powerful and affluent church family, and disappeared in the 1990s. While he is a man of true faith and compassion, he is accustomed to the power and clout afforded his position.
