Sad news for fans of the Syfy series Reginald the Vampire. On July 15, TVLine exclusively revealed that the horror-comedy show would not be returning for a third season, making its July 10 episode the series finale.

Premiering in October 2022, Reginald the Vampire ends its run with two ten-episode seasons, for a total of 20. The series is based on Johnny B. Truant's Fat Vampire book series and was created by showrunner Harley Peyton.

Spider-Man star Jacob Batalon played the titular lead, a teen who gets into a violent altercation that leaves him on the brink of death, leaving vampirism as the only way to save his life. Best known for playing Ned Leeds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Batalon also recently starred in the Sony horror film Tarot and will next appear alongside Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder in the action thriller Novocaine.

The series was an adaptation of Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire book series. Created and penned by Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Chucky) who also served as showrunner, the dramedy imagined a world populated by “beautiful, fit and vain vampires.” Reginald Andres (played by Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Jacob Batalon) tumbled headlong into it as an unlikely hero who navigated every kind of obstacle — the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bully manager at work and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead.

David Lynch and Mark Frost’s iconic “Twin Peaks” surreal series had to be pulled back down to earth by network executives, especially when it came to providing a resolution for the central mystery.

The beloved series aired on ABC from April 1990 to June 1991; the show was later resurrected by Showtime with 2017’s “Twin Peaks: The Return.” Prequel film “Fire Walk With Me” centered around the events prior to “Twin Peaks,” which opens with high school character Laura Palmer’s murder.

According to co-creator Frost, ABC threatened to “stop sending us money” for production if Season 2 did not provide some resolution to Laura Palmer’s killing. Frost told Variety that Lynch would ideally have preferred for the mystery to “go on forever.”

“We literally had a gun to our head from the network,” Frost said. “As I recall, they were just going to stop sending us money if we didn’t deliver this.

Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise (except the remake) and directed a few of them, developed the TV series Chucky with producer David Kirschner – and he has made it clear that he enjoys casting actors in multiple roles. For example, Devon Sawa has already played four different characters over the course of the TV show’s three seasons. Now Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary filmmaker John Waters is the latest person to play two different roles in this franchise. Having previously played Pete Peters, a tabloid photographer who got dissolved by acid in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Waters has now been added to the cast of Chucky season 3, where he’ll be playing Wendell Wilkins, “the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web”.

Now a teaser trailer has arrived online to show us that Chucky will indeed be raiding the White House in the new episodes, sharing the Oval Office with the President of the United States – who happens to be played by Devon Sawa, taking on the fourth role he has played over the course of this series. Chucky season 3 just went into production at the end of April, but apparently the writers and actors strikes haven’t had any impact on it. In a newly released promo video, which you can find embedded at the top of this article, Chucky himself announces that Chucky season 3 is scheduled to begin airing on October 4th! Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan shares some sentimental thoughts about the show's infamous season 2 finale. Co-created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, Twin Peaks turned the investigation of Laura Palmer's murder into two landmark seasons, a feature film, tie-in books, and an acclaimed revival that came out in 2017. In the process, MacLachlan's Dale Cooper also became one of television's most memorable agents. Syfy‘s comedy-horror series “Reginald the Vampire” premiered last Halloween season, and today we’ve learned that the Jacob Batalon-starring series is getting a second season.

USA Network/Syfy have good news for fans of killer dolls and vampires. Syfy’s Chucky will return for a third season and Reginald the Vampire has officially been renewed for season two.

The second season of Chucky was one of the top 10 drama cable series in 2022 among adults. And the network’s Reginald the Vampire starring Jacob Batalon was second among all cable dramas on Wednesdays at 10pm during its first season run.

The USA Network/Syfy show following the terrifying doll ranked as a top 10 drama in cable for 2022 in the 18-49 demographic in live plus seven-day ratings. Meanwhile, Syfy’s “Reginald the Vampire” was cable’s No. 2 drama in the 10 p.m. Wednesday timeslot in 18-49, according to Nielsen figures.

Two of NBCUniversal’s current signature thrillers will return for new seasons. USA Network/Syfy’s “Chucky” will be back for a third season, while Syfy’s “Reginald the Vampire” returns for its Season 2. The news was announced Sunday during NBCUniversal’s portion of the winter 2023 Television Critics Assn. press tour.

“Chucky,” which comes from Universal Studio Group’s UCP division, last year ranked as a top 10 cable drama in the 18-49 demo, according to the studio. A continuation of the film franchise about the killer doll, “Chucky” stars include Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Devon Sawa, Lachlan Watson, Fiona Dourif and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.
