Ellen Pompeo reveals why this Grey's Anatomy sex scene was a 'nightmare'
Image
Ellen Pompeo will always be connected to Grey's Anatomy. She may no longer spearhead every episode, but she still provides narration and serves as an executive producer. Since she has been involved with the show for so long, however, Pompeo has been able to speak more frankly about her experiences making it.

This was incredibly evident during the actress' recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Pompeo was asked which Grey's Anatomy sex scene was the most uncomfortable to shoot, and she did not hesitate when it came to her answer. Pompeo deemed the sex scene between her character and George (T.R. Knight) in the season 2 was so bad she couldn't bring herself to watch it.

Pompeo was forced to shoot a sex scene twice

The actress clarified that her scene partner was not to blame. "T.R. and I are such good friends," she assured host Alex Cooper.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 10 Review: The Girlies are Fighting (And Getting Engaged)
Image
All the girlies were fighting during Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 10.

Meredith was back, and with her return, there was some simmering tension between her and her faux dad, Webber.

But, of course, some of the biggest news to come from this hour is that proposal!

(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)

We’ve already discussed in detail how Meredith’s Visits to the series don’t necessarily allow Grey’s Anatomy to fully embrace its new era.

And this time around, she brought Nick with her. Ironically, besides delivering some amusing looks while Mer and Webber were snipping at each other, poor Scott Speedman didn’t have much to do.

It’s not like he got to put that liver into Tasha. He may have something more to do when this storyline continues since it’s not close to being over yet.

The Most Annoying Grey's Anatomy Characters of All Time
Image
Since 2005, Grey's Anatomy has produced a hoard of amazing characters. From incredible surgeons like Richard Webber to swoon-worthy doctors like Derek Shepherd, all of these characters work to make this show a success. So, even with a variety of intense medical cases, many long-term fans would agree that the show is a hit because of its diverse range of characters.

But with so many faces to choose from, it's evident that not everyone is going to be a fan favorite. Some characters are just too obnoxious for their own good, and occasionally, a certain character will just take things too far. As such, for every good Grey's Anatomy character, there seems to be plenty that are just plain annoying.

An Intern That Took Advantage of Others Izzie Stevens

Although Izzie started her internship at the same time as Meredith Grey, they didn't share the same levels of success. Izzie tended...

Every Time Station 19's Dean Miller Appeared in Grey's Anatomy, Explained
Image
Viewers assumed that if there were going to be a Grey's Anatomy spin-off, it would probably focus on the side hustles of one of the primary characters. However, it surprised fans when Station 19 premiered in 2018 as an official part of the Grey's Anatomy universe. The series focused on the lives of first responders, particularly firefighters, in a similar capacity as the surgeons of Grey Sloan Memorial. Among these unsung heroes was Dean Miller, an integral part of Station 19 and one of the few characters who left the show midway.

Several characters from both shows crossed paths in different crossover episodes where the responders and the doctors connected over their shared experiences and traumas. Dean Miller regularly popped up whenever Shonda Rhimes wanted to mix things up. The brave firefighter had an interesting and emotional arc that fitted well in both Grey's Anatomy and Station 19's narrative.

10 Most Disappointing Storylines in Grey's Anatomy, Ranked
Image
It seems that Grey's Anatomy is yet to run out of dramatic plot lines. Whether it's a devastating diagnosis or a complex love triangle, the show certainly knows how to keep fans on the edge of their seats. As such, the drama is still considered to be one of the most popular procedurals in modern TV history.

That being said, some plotlines failed to hit the mark and left fans feeling a tad disappointed. With so many characters and themes to explore, it can be quite hard for the long-running series to explore every possible avenue, whilst also following an over-arching storyline. Thus, it could be argued that a handful of arcs fizzled out and caused fans to lose faith in their favorite soap opera.

Image
The following contains massive spoilers for Grey's Anatomy Season 21, Episode 4, "This One's for the Girls," which aired Thursday, October 17, on ABC.

Grey's Anatomy Season 21, Episode 4, "This One's for the Girls," is easily the season's best episode so far. The episode focused on the interns, brought back Helm, and even dropped a couple of surprises for its viewers -- including that Meredith's absence, with the exception of her voiceover, was unnoticeable.

As "This One's for the Girls" opens, Mika Yasuda is pacing impatiently outside the hospital. Viewers who caught Season 21, Episode 3, "I Can See Clearly Now," will likely guess -- correctly -- that Yasuda is waiting for her younger sister to arrive. Chloe was diagnosed with colorectal cancer during "I Can See Clearly Now," and Yasuda has asked the doctors at Grey-Sloan Memorial to help. As Yasuda awaits Chloe's rideshare driver, the other interns show up for work, though they're running late.

Grey's Anatomy Only Works Because of Its Most Problematic Couple
Image
Ellis Grey and Richard Webber's affair was a significant part of Grey's Anatomy, impacting the show's development and characters. Their shared passion for medicine and professional milestones, such as diagnosing the first AIDS patient, emphasized their strong bond. Despite breaking up, their emotional connection remained strong, and they shared a daughter, Maggie Pierce, further connecting them.

It's fair to say that Grey's Anatomy wouldn't be the same without its influx of steamy romance and complicated relationships. Alongside its tense medical element, the show thrives on the dynamic between the vast array of characters. Yet, with so many pairings occurring at the same time, it's clear that some relationships will be more impactful than others.

Ellis Grey is a trailblazing woman, not only because she gave birth to Meredith but because she's a pioneer within a very male-dominated field. Her past affair with Richard Webber had fans sitting on the...

I Figured Out The Easiest Way Grey's Anatomy Season 21 Can Survive Cast Exits
Image
Several key cast members are leaving Grey's Anatomy ahead of season 21, raising concerns about the show's ability to navigate change. Season 20 faced challenges with condensed storylines and character exits, leading to uncertainty about the future of the long-running series. The season 20 finale sets up Catherine Fox as a villain, but some believe it's time for Grey's Anatomy to move on from this storyline.

Ahead of the Grey's Anatomy season 20 finale, ABC announced that several main cast members would be exiting the long-running medical drama. Jake Borelli, who has played Levi Schmitt since season 14, and Midori Francis, whose surgical intern Mika Yasuda joined Grey's Anatomy in season 19, will be departing the show ahead of its landmark 21st outing. Previously, Maggie Pierce actor Kelly McCreary called it quits, while Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey, slashed her screentime. Needless to say, I'm feeling nervous about Grey's Anatomy season 21's ability to successfully navigate so much change.

Image
The following contains spoilers from Grey's Anatomy, Season 20, Episode 10, "Burn It Down," which aired Thursday, May 30 on ABC.

As dawn breaks in Seattle, Wa, Simone Griffith is watching the local news report on the nearby wildfire. In Season 20, Episode 9, "I Carry Your Heart," Pierce offered Lucas Adams a spot as a second-year resident at the Heart Center, and Simone is worried he'll be moving -- especially since Teddy Altman and Miranda Bailey told Adams in "I Carry Your Heart" that he might have to repeat his intern year. Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 9 Review: I Carry Your Heart
James Pickens Jr., Ellen Pompeo, and Chandra Wilson in Grey's Anatomy (2005)
It is absolutely unbelievable, but we've almost reached the end of Grey's Anatomy's twentieth season.

This week, tons of excitement is happening at Grey Sloan as the writers get us ready for next week's season finale.

Catherine has discovered the truth about what Meredith has been up to, and she's out for blood on Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 9.

This week was pretty fast-paced, which was a nice change after a few slower episodes that focused more on surgical cases than character development.

The first big reveal of the hour was the return of Maggie Pierce, a divisive character the likes of whom we haven't seen in about a year.

People have strong feelings about this character and how she fits into the Grey's Anatomy universe, but I have always loved her.

I'll always be a sucker for the way the writers tied Meredith, Maggie, and Amelia together into a sisterhood,...

10 Best Episodes of Grey's Anatomy Season 19, Ranked
Image
Grey's Anatomy is one of the most popular medical dramas in television history. Centering on the surgical residency program at a Seattle hospital, Grey's Anatomy began with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and the group of interns she started her program with. Over the last 20 seasons, interns and doctors have come and gone and the hospital has changed names and owners, but it remains the best fictional surgery training program in the country.

In the show's 19th season, audiences saw the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital deal with new interns, changes to their leadership, and unexpected natural disasters. They also spent much of the season dealing with the repercussions of national changes to reproductive care, specifically regarding abortion. The season has many incredible episodes, and the cliffhanger in the finale is one that fans won't soon forget. However, a select few episodes stand out among the rest.
