Chris Pratt Knows What Andy Dwyer's Future Would Be In Parks & Rec Reboot
Image
Chris Pratt said he knows exactly where hisParks and Recreationcharacter, Andy Dwyer, would have ended up after the show’s end. Pratt, who played the hapless but lovable Andy for seven seasons on the popular NBC comedy, gave some insight as to where he’d have ended up should the show return for a reboot.

Pratt told Access Hollywood that not only would he be “game” for a Parks & Rec reboot, he also knows that Andy would end up moving to Pawnee’s rival town, Eagleton, and integrate fully into their world. Pratt says Andy would have become a “yuppie” as well as a children’s performer. Read his full quote below.

A reboot? Of course, I’d be game. That was one of the most special seasons of my life, all seven seasons of the show, but that entire era for me, it was so much fun. I love it so much.

4 funniest books from SNL icons that reveal backstage secrets
Image
In its 50-year history, Saturday Night Live has produced some of the most talented, celebrated, and downright hilarious comedy stars of all time. Name a beloved comedy performer and they most likely have some ties to the NBC late-night sketch series, whether it's as a cast member, a writer, or a frequent host in a league all their own.

After departing SNL and leaving behind a lasting legacy on the show, a lot of the alums and icons go on to star in successful scripted comedy series, like Tina Fey creating and starring in 30 Rock and Amy Poehler heading to Pawnee, Indiana, for Parks and Recreation. The big screen also beckons, and eventually, the biggest SNL stars compile their life stories into humorous tomes.

While there are so many great books about Saturday Night Live and even more written by its endless list of alumni, I'm sharing a collection...

Bill Hader Reveals Why He Skipped ‘SNL50’
Image
Bill Hader was one of a handful of iconic Saturday Night Live stars that missed the 50th anniversary.

Hader, who was on the NBC show between 2005 and 2013, revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers it was as a result of his anxiety.

Meyers said, “You were very open and honest after you left SNL, about the anxiety you had when you were working there. Then, for the SNL 50th, I think people were obviously at first disappointed you weren’t coming, but that was the reason. I sort of celebrated your choice.”

Hader revealed that Andy Samberg called him to talk him into doing a sketch about how everybody had anxiety. “When he told me about it, I [said], ‘I don’t know if I want to do that.’ He [said], ‘Why?’ and I’m like, ‘Because I’m anxious’.”

“I was really shaky,” he added before revealing that Bowen Yang took his place in the sketch.

Bill Hader Reveals Anxiety Kept Him From Participating in ‘SNL50’ Sketch
Image
Bill Hader was among the handful of Saturday Night Live alumni who did not attend the show’s 50th anniversary special earlier this year.

And appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers Tuesday night, Hader and fellow SNL alum Meyers indicated his anxiety, which Hader has been open about having, was responsible for his absence.

“You were very open and honest after you left SNL, about the anxiety you had when you were working there,” Meyers said to Hader on Tuesday’s Late Night. “And then, for the SNL 50th [anniversary], I think people were obviously at first disappointed you weren’t coming, but that was the reason. And I sort of celebrated your choice.”

The SNL50 special even featured a digital short about the prevalence of castmembers having anxiety, which Hader said he was asked to participate in.

“Andy [Samberg] called me and was like, ‘Hey, so we’re doing this short about how,...

Joe Jonas is opening up about how raising two daughters is “so different” from growing up in a family of brothers!

Parks and Recreation Season 1 Rating Proved Why The Office Spinoff Idea Was Horrible
Image
When the first season of Parks and Recreation was announced, it was advertised as a spin-off of The Office, expected to maintain the quality and feel that the beloved series had. However, as Rotten Tomatoes showed, the series did not have the best start, having a 68% critics rating and a 71% audience rating for its first season. This is surprising, since a potential spin-off of a show like The Office should have easily gained good reviews.

What is even more fascinating is that the series has become iconic over time, boasting an overall score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. With this, one cannot help but wonder why the first season was so distinctively bad, and interestingly enough, it could have everything to do with Steve Carell’s series.

Now that the new Naked Gun has been released, it reminded us of how great parody films can be (check out Bumbray’s review Here). I felt it was time to look at other films in the parody genre. From the financially unsuccessful to films that didn’t get a fair shake until decades later, it’s time that we run the gauntlet.

So let’s take a look at some of the most underrated Parody Films ever made.

Andy Samberg’s Emotional Quest to Find His Mother’s Biological Parents
Image
In a story that feels straight out of a Hollywood movie, Andy Samberg helped his mother, Marjorie Marrow, uncover a family mystery that had haunted her since childhood. Marrow, who grew up knowing she was adopted but was told her birth parents had died in a car crash, had spent decades trying to learn the truth about where she came from.

Then, in 2019, Samberg agreed to appear on PBS’s Finding Your Roots not to explore his own lineage, but to help his mother finally solve the mystery. What they discovered stunned both of them; each of her birth parents’ families had unknowingly kept the same photograph of the couple together from 1946.

The photo, taken at the Balalaika nightclub in San Francisco, had been tucked away separately for decades by both families, of a brief romance between a Berkeley student and a Sicilian-born sailor. For Marrow, now in her 70s,...

‘Parks & Rec’ Star, 52, Reveals Which Character He’d Like to See in a Spin-Off
Image
Next week, a new era of comedy will be unleashed as the highly anticipated spin-off from The Office — titled The Paper and featuring Oscar Nuñez in the cast — will premiere on Peacock. With such an important comedy series making a comeback, wouldn't it be the perfect opportunity to bring its "sister" series Parks and Recreation to return as well? Severance star Adam Scott seems to think so. During a participation on the Entertainment Weekly podcast, the actor talked about his unique idea for a Parks & Rec spin-off.

When he was asked about a character that he'd like to revisit, Scott had an immediate answer ready. Not only that, the Parks and Recreation alumnus had a full premise of what could be the new series' starting point — and it would make perfect sense in the universe of the series if you think about it for a couple of seconds. So,...

12 SNL Stars Who Had A Rough Time Working On The Sketch Comedy Show
Image
Earlier this year, "Saturday Night Live" celebrated its 50th anniversary with a star-studded anniversary special on NBC. Among all the best moments from the "SNL 50" anniversary special, one that might stick out to casual fans of the show is the SNL Digital Short in which Bowen Yang and Andy Samberg sing about the fact that "everyone who ever worked at 'SNL' had anxiety."

The reason this short's premise may be surprising is that "Saturday Night Live" seems like the dream job. However, if you keep up with any of its stars after they leave the show, a lot of them have been open about how difficult of a workplace it really is. Little sleep, tons of pressure, and the eyeballs of America on you can ruin the fun for even the most beloved "SNL" stars.

For these 12 former cast members of "SNL," they owe a lot to Lorne Michaels and NBC,...

Dan Aykroyd has finally addressed the reason he skipped out on the Saturday Night Live50th Anniversary Special, SNL50. The commemorative television program brought back a variety of its top-rated talent for a three-hour extravaganza, celebrating the NBC sketch show's legacy as it reached another major milestone. However, Aykroyd was noticeably absent from proceedings, leaving fans at home to wonder why he wasn't included or didn't show up for the occasion. It turns out, he missed it for a pretty relatable reason.

Saturday Night Live's 50th Anniversary Special aired on Feb. 16, 2025, with past and present cast members taking to the stage to pay homage to the history of the long-running sketch comedy show. It featured a parade of famous faces, from Steve Martin and Martin Short to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and even a surprise appearance from the legendary Jack Nicholson, but Aykroyd, who was a cast member...

Philly Justice: Amy Poehler, Kathryn Hahn & Adam Scott Made the Best ’90s Courtroom Drama That Never Existed
Image
If Philly Justice sounds like a forgotten courtroom drama from 1997 that aired right after Ally McBeal, you’re not losing your mind. It looks the part. It sounds the part. But it’s not a long-lost show from the late ’90s. In fact, it never actually existed.

Philly Justice is a completely fake ’90s legal drama lovingly crafted by Amy Poehler, Kathryn Hahn, Adam Scott, and a few more familiar faces from the Parks and Recreation universe.

What started as a running joke on set turned into a fully committed production, complete with dramatic walk-ins, romantic subplots, rival attorneys, dead-serious monologues, and overacted objections.

It’s the Threat Level Midnight of the Parks & Rec universe, only this time it wasn’t just written into an episode. They actually made it! Sets were built. Costumes were discussed. Lines were memorized. But you won’t find it on your streaming platform,...

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson Reveal How They Balanced Friendship and Work on ‘Broad City’
Image
Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson played best friends on their Comedy Central series Broad City for five seasons, though they recently revealed that they had to set boundaries while filming the show.

Since they were spending so much time together during the show’s production schedule, Glazer and Jacobson explained that they had to make sure to give each other space when needed. “We didn’t, like, hang out. I think when we were doing it, we would be like, ‘See you on Monday,'” Jacobson recalled on Tuesday’s episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast.

“We weren’t like hanging out as friends during Broad City. We couldn’t,” Glazer added.

Jacobson explained that the decision to set boundaries wasn’t personal. “It was just like, after 12, 14 hours of Monday through Friday, we were like, ‘Let’s not do dinner on Saturday,'” she said.

Earlier in the conversation,...

Can you believe it’s been ten years since we said goodbye to the Parks Department of Pawnee, Indiana? Yes, we know, it feels like just yesterday we were watching Leslie Knope frantically organize another town hall meeting or seeing Ron Swanson grimace at the mention of vegetables.

Reneé Rapp Is Haunted by Her Lover’s Ex on ‘Why Is She Still Here?’

Reneé Rapp‘s got a lot of questions on latest single “Why Is She Still Here?” Rapp used the R&b-inflected, bass guitar-driven pop ballad to ask her lover, “If I’m your girl, then why is she still here?” Unfortunately, the singer doesn’t get many, or really any, answers at all. But she does use the track to show off bold vocal trills and deliver stinging lines like, “You can tell me you don’t love her, you should probably tell her too.”

Is Being Fired by ‘SNL’ the Key to Awards Success?
Image
It seems as though Hollywood stars will do almost anything to win major acting awards that in no way resemble golden popcorn buckets.

In addition to going on media blitzes, attending gala events and straight-up suck-uping to voting bodies, one potentially unsung method of achieving awards recognition just might be getting shitcanned by Lorne Michaels.

Among the most recent crop of Emmy nominees is the great Jenny Slate, who was recognized for her work in Dying for Sex in the “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie” category. Slate was famously let go after just one season on SNL (but not for dropping the F-bomb that one time as some folks mistakenly believe).

Obviously Slate is nominated because of her exceptional acting, but we can’t help but notice that she isn’t the first person who’s gotten recognition from the Television Academy after being fired by SNL.

Andy Samberg Reflects on Andre Braugher’s Legacy and Their Unmatched On-Screen Chemistry
Andy Samberg
Andy Samberg says every table read of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” reminded him how rare his connection with Andre Braugher was—an ease he now misses “a lot,” he told Amy Poehler during a new episode of her podcast “Good Hang.” Braugher, who died from lung cancer in December 2023, played stoic Captain Raymond Holt opposite Samberg’s impulsive detective Jake Peralta across the comedy’s 2013-2021 run.

Asked what worked behind the scenes, Samberg recalled their first table read: “He walked in, we said hello, and the rhythm clicked in the first scene.” He praised Braugher as “deeply moral and kind and pleasant and smart,” adding that the cast “absolutely loved him.”

The friendship deepened as Braugher—best known for hard-edged drama—experimented with comedy. Though initially unsure of his timing, he quickly mastered deadpan deliveries that became a hallmark of the series, Samberg said, remembering crew reactions when Braugher “flipped the switch” for serious moments.

Andy Samberg Fondly Remembers “Deeply Moral And Kind” Andre Braugher & Time On ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’
Image
Andy Samberg fondly remembered his late Brooklyn Nine-Nine costar Andre Braugher, reflecting on their time together on the two-time Emmy-winning sitcom and how the show has endured for audiences since its conclusion in 2021.

During a recent episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the Saturday Night Live alum discussed seeking Poehler’s advice on taking the lead role in the Mike Schur and Dan Goor-created series about a Brooklyn-based precinct, as the writers were also behind her Parks and Recreation. Samberg said he didn’t realize how well-known and beloved the show was until a family trip to Europe a couple years ago resulted in him getting recognized everywhere.

“It’s a gift that keeps giving,” the Palm Springs star said. “Because of the Netflix part of it, everywhere I went, it was like, ‘Jake Peralta!’ I felt like I was on Friends. I was like, ‘Oh my God,...

After a Shock Revelation From One of Its Stars, This 95% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Series Is Trending on Streaming
Image
It's not uncommon for actors to avoid watching their own performances, with the reasons often centered around self-criticism. However, it still came as a shock when The Wire star Idris Elba recently revealed that he had never watched the crime thriller series, widely regarded as one of the greatest ever made. Elba played the major character named Stringer Bell during the show’s first three seasons, in what was a breakthrough performance that helped launch his illustrious career. Whether by coincidence or driven by his candid admission, the classic series has now begun trending on HBO Max. And if, like Elba, you've yet to experience it, now might be the perfect time to finally correct this TV sin, especially if you’re a fan of procedurals.

The Wire is one of those essential crime shows that deserves to be watched at least once. For five seasons and a total of 60 episodes,...

The Bonkers Comedy That John Hughes Didn’t Want You to See
Image
A comedy TV show in 2004 that starred — deep breath here — Amy Poehler, Fred Armisen, Paul Rudd, Tina Fey, Will Arnett, Michael Ian Black, Rachel Dratch, Ken Marino, Jack McBrayer and Maya Rudolph? And it never saw the light of day? What was VH1 thinking?

The pilot was called Soundtracks Live, based on a stage show created by the Upright Citizens Brigade. “It was a really cool thing where Amy Poehler and Amy Miles ran it,” Fey told Complex in 2013. “It was this thing where they take a movie like Sixteen Candles and act out the movie on a stage and a band would play the soundtrack live and people would sing the song.”

The VH1 pilot was a more or less faithful recreation of the John Hughes teen comedy. “I had a few different parts,” Rudd told Complex. “I sang a song in the end with The Vapors called, ‘Turning Japanese.

Andy Samberg Shares Update on His Mom’s Adoption Story After ‘Finding Your Roots’ Appearance
Image
Andy Samberg shared an update about his mother’s adoption story during the Tuesday episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast.

In a 2019 episode of Finding Your Roots, the Saturday Night Live alum and his mother, Marjorie Marrow, finally learned the identity of her birth parents after Marrow, who was adopted, had struggled to track them down.

While Marrow’s biological mother and father had both died by the time they filmed the episode, she learned that they briefly dated before they broke up and their respective families even held onto the same photograph of them together.

“They both, unbeknownst to each other, went looking through her biological parents’ stuff they still had, and they both found the same photograph of the two of them together,” Samberg told Poehler during the podcast episode. “They both had the same picture of them together when they had their brief time together...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg Remembers 'Good Person' Andre Braugher
Image
Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher formed a great comedy partnership on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Braugher shockingly passed away in 2023, and now Samberg is sharing his memories of working with Braugher.

Samberg spoke about his relationship with Braugher with other comedians. He made the comments on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, via Entertainment Weekly. Poehler said of Braugher, "I never had the pleasure of meeting him, he seemed like he was just playful and fun,” to which Samberg answered, “He was, and just a good person," before going more in-depth.

Braugher played Captain Raymond Holt, a police captain who takes Samberg's Jake Peralta under his wing and forms an almost father-son-like relationship with him. Samberg described him to Poehler as “so deeply moral and kind and pleasant and smart,” before saying, “We all absolutely loved him. I miss him a lot.”

Brooklyn Nine-Nine had a memorable cast. In addition to Samberg,...

Hulu Gets in the Zarna Garg Business with ‘Practical People Win’: Trailer
Image
“All the kids in this generation believe that they can follow their bliss,” Zarna Garg says in the trailer for her new Hulu special — before turning heel as always: “No! You will monetize your misery!”

In “Practical People Win,” Garg is doing just that; maybe not with misery exactly, but mining her life for cheeky cultural observations and punchlines as always. The one minute trailer for her special pokes fun at her son, husband, and mother-in-law — which any Zarna fan knows is par for the course. As Hulu’s press release put it, she’s “taking aim at husbands, kids, in-laws, and anyone who dares question an Indian mom’s wisdom.”

Garg rose to fame during the early days of Covid-19 lockdown, when she was starting out as a standup comedian and her eldest son began posting clips of it to social media. The clips went viral, and so did...

Nick Offerman Could Have Played One Of Marvel's Most Iconic Characters
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Hugh Jackman is pretty inseparable from Wolverine at this point. Troye Sivan in the opening flashback of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and a certain cameo in "Deadpool & Wolverine" aside, Jackman is the only actor to play Logan on the big screen. He's been doing it for 25 years (almost) straight at this point, too. ("Till you're 90.")

But back in the late 1990s, when the first "X-Men" movie was still coming together, Jackman was a musical and theatre star not hugely famous outside his native Australia. Suffice to say, he wasn't the instant number one pick for Logan, so "X-Men" held auditions to find the right actor.

For starters, the role of Wolverine was famously Dougray Scott's, but he had to drop out to film "Mission: Impossible II." Jackman's career as Wolverine began with him being the understudy. Scott wasn't the only unused Logan,...

Over 20 Years Later, Idris Elba Still Hasn't Watched His Most Iconic TV Show
Image
Idris Elba confessed that he still hasn't watched his iconic American breakthrough performance in The Wire, even though 20 years have passed. The British actor and DJ became known to American audiences for playing Russell "Stringer" Bell, the cerebral second-in-command of Avon Barksdale's (Wood Harris) drug empire in early 2000s Baltimore.

Appearing as a guest on Good Hang With Amy Poehler, Idris Elba told host and The Wire superfan Amy Poehler that he feels bad he didn't watch David Simon's critically acclaimed HBO series. Elba explained that "a part of me died" when Stringer Bell died in The Wire season 3, and that it would feel "weird" for him to go back and watch it. Read Idris' quotes and watch the video below:

If I'm really honest, like, I didn't watch The Wire. And I feel bad. It's not that I'm not a fan of it. I was there. I made a show that was,...

Steve Carell's $300 Million Animated Hit With a 'Wolf of Wall Street' Star is a Streaming Smash 17 Years Later
Image
Such is the nature of the ever-revolving door of animated movies; many once-beloved projects will soon find themselves lost to time. Boasting a strong "certified fresh" 79% critics' score and 73% from audiences on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the 2008 family-friendly adventure Horton Hears a Who!, based on Dr. Seuss' classic 1954 book of the same name, was once a huge success at the end of the noughties.

Directed by the duo of Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino, the movie was a certain success upon arrival, but has found itself falling out of discourse as more relevant animated projects have since been released. This is made even more surprising when learning of the movie's stacked voice cast, headlined by the duo of Steve Carell and Jim Carrey. Alongside the two comedy giants are the likes of Carol Burnett, Will Arnett, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Isla Fisher, Amy Poehler, and many more in what reads...

Idris Elba, 52, Admits To Never Having Watched His 95% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Series
Image
With a near-perfect critics’ score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, The Wire remains one of the greatest crime drama series of all time. Over a five-season run, the series used dramatized situations to shed light on real-life issues and served as a social commentary. At the time, the casting team stayed away from large names, giving many of The Wire’s stars their first foot in the business. Among the blossoming superstars are names like Idris Elba, Dominic West, and the late Lance Reddick. Despite being one of HBO’s most popular productions in the history of the studio and the title that would launch his incredibly successful career, Elba recently admitted that he’s never watched the show.

During a recent appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, the Luther star said,

“If I’m really honest, I didn’t watch The Wire. I didn’t watch it. And I feel bad.

Idris Elba Based His Office Character On A Surprising Pop Culture Icon
Image
Idris Elba credits The Wire for his casting in The Office. According to the actor, the sitcom needed a villain like Stringer Bell, so he channeled his character from the crime drama series.

During an appearance on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Elba said he basically played different versions of the same character in The Wire and The Office. He also revealed that he landed a role in the sitcom because John Krasinski was obsessed with the crime drama. "[Krasinski] was a big Wire fan, and he was like, 'We need that guy, we need that guy,'" he recalled. Elba played Dunder Mifflin boss Charles Miner in The Office Season 5. Though he only appeared in six episodes, the character was one of the show's best low-key villains.

"[Charles Miner] was described as this guy who's like Stringer Bell. He's real serious as a businessman, but you don't laugh at anyone, you don't suffer fools,...

'A Part of Me Died with That Character': Idris Elba Explains Why He's Never Watched This Acclaimed TV Drama
Image
The Wire's Russell "Stringer" Bell is one of TV's most iconic villains, and it's all thanks to Idris Elba's gripping performance. The actor revealed his reservations about his character's exit, which is partly the reason he doesn't want to watch the series.

Attesting to The Wire's enduring legacy, Idris Elba said some fans still remember him best for the drama series. Having played the pragmatic, savvy crime boss Stringer Bell for three seasons, the actor confirmed he had qualms with his exit. "I had reservations about how Stringer was dying," Elba told Amy Poehler. "There was various ways that [series creator] David Simon wanted to depict that, and I was a little bit against some of that. But the actual beheading of Stringer was an important move, you know? Just to illustrate to the world that, 'Hey, man, take the blinkers off.'"

Introduced in the series premiere, Stringer Bell...

Idris Elba Was at First ‘Against’ How His ‘The Wire’ Character Died, but Realized It Made a ‘Political Point’
Image
Idris Elba was having a 40-degree day when first reading his character Stringer Bell’s death scene on “The Wire.” The acclaimed HBO series spanned five seasons between 2002 and 2008; Elba’s drug kingpin Stringer was killed in the Season 3 finale in 2004 by Omar (the late Michael K. Williams) and Brother Mouzone (Michael Potts).

“I had reservations about how Stringer was dying,” Elba recently said during Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast (in the below video). “There was various ways that [series creator] David Simon wanted to depict that, and I was a little bit against some of that. But the actual beheading of Stringer was an important move, you know? Just to illustrate to the world that, ‘Hey, man, take the blinkers off.'”

The real-life inspiration for Stringer didn’t meet the same fate (thankfully). “The Wire” is famously based off of former crime journalist Simon’s reporting across Baltimore. Simon...

Idris Elba Reveals The Brutal Moment He Was Uneasy About - And Why He Stands By It 26 Years Later
Image
Idris Elba has opened up about the iconic Stringer Bell scene from The Wire that he had “reservations” about. Elba was the latest A-list guest on Amy Poehler’s new podcast, Good Hang, following in the footsteps of Paul Rudd, Jack Black, and Michelle Obama. Elba was there to promote his new Amazon action comedy, Heads of State, co-starring John Cena.

As an avid fan of The Wire, Poehler was eager to discuss the show, but Elba said he’d never seen it, because he doesn’t want to become too aware of his own performance style. However, he was happy to discuss it — particularly his “reservations” about Stringer’s demise, one of The Wire’s most shocking deaths. Read Elba’s full comments below:

I had reservations about how Stringer was dying. There was various ways that [series creator] David Simon wanted to depict that, and I was a little bit against some of that.
