One Of Hulu's First Ever Shows Was A Western Comedy Created By A Star Trek Star
Image
"Star Trek: Voyager" introduced Nancy Hower's Ensign Samantha Wildman in the fourth episode of the show's second season, "Elogium" (which first aired in 1995). Described as a xenobiology expert during her introduction, the character was named after Samantha Wildman, a real-life young girl who, after dying in a tragic accident, had donated life-saving organs to co-writer Jimmy Diggs' wife. Hower's character would go on to give birth to her daughter, Naomi, in the 1996 episode "Deadlock," which was a dramatic wrinkle for "Voyager." Recall that the premise of the series was that the U.S.S. Voyager was lost in space, 70 years from Earth. This meant Wildman's daughter -- who was half human and half Ktarian -- would have to be raised in space.

Naomi was the one who ended up playing a major role on the show, while Samantha only appeared in eight episodes total. She didn't have much of a character arc,...

'We've Been Talking': Happy's Place Showrunner Teases Another Exciting Reba Reunion
Image
The following article contains spoilers for Happy's Place, Season 1.

Reba McEntire's new NBC sitcom, Happy's Place, is looking to reunite the actress with more of her Reba co-stars in Season 2. Showrunner Kevin Abbott recently shared his plans for the new season.

Happy's Place premiered in October 2024, with McEntire starring as Bobbie McAllister, a woman who inherits a bar in Tennessee founded by her father. Bobbie soon finds out she has a half-sister, who also has a claim to the bar's ownership after the death of their father. As one of NBC's new sitcoms, Happy's Place performed well for the network, which led to a second season renewal ahead of the first season's finale. Now, with a second season on the way, Abbott revealed to TV Insider that he wants to bring back even more stars from McEntire's original 2000s sitcom, Reba.

Happy's Place sees McEntire's Reba co-star Melissa Peterman...

Christopher Rich Explains How ‘Reba’ Co-Stars “Got Me Back” Onscreen After Stroke For ‘Happy’s Place’
Image
Last week’s episode of NBC‘s Happy’s Place graced Reba fans with another onscreen reunion.

After suffering a stroke in 2018, Christopher Rich explained how Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman convinced him to return for their current sitcom nearly two decades after starring with them on McEntire’s self-titled WB/CW series.

“I mean, I’ve basically taken the last decade off. And if anybody was going to drag me out of the dark corner of the closet, it would be the redhead,” Rich told Entertainment Tonight.

“I feel so bizarre recovering from the stroke thing that I didn’t even want to go out of my house for a lot of the time. But, they’ve got me back out. They would invite me to parties and reunion things,” he said, adding: “But I needed some place where I could feel safe to try and trot this broken body out again,...

Seven Of Nine’s Borg “Children” On Star Trek: Voyager Explained
Image
Former Borg drone Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) was a mother figure and mentor to a group of ex-Borg children in Star Trek: Voyager. Voyager's Borg kids had been assimilated as children, just like Seven, who was only six years old when her parents' ship, the USS Raven, was caught after years of evading capture. Young Annika Hansen was the daughter of Erin and Mangus Hansen, Federation scientists whose study of the Borg brought them to the Delta Quadrant. Annika was too young to become a drone, so she was placed in a maturation chamber until she was older.

Recently liberated from the Borg Collective, Seven was still figuring out how to reclaim her own humanity when the USS Voyager encountered a Borg Cube that had been struck by a virus in Star Trek: Voyager season 6, episode 16, "Collective". The virus rendered the Cube all but inert, killing all the drones...

Reba McEntire's New 2024 Sitcom Got The Best News With A Full Season Order
Image
The new Reba McEntire sitcom has gotten a full-season order. The well-rounded performer began her career as a country music artist in the mid-1970s, earning 25 No. 1 singles over the course of her career, including "Can't Even Get the Blues," "How Blue," "Little Rock," and "The Last One to Know." In addition to her music career, which led her to become a host on The Voice, she has also had a robust career as an actress in projects including Tremors, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, and her long-running sitcom Reba.

In the classic sitcom, McEntire played a single mother whose life was in disarray after her husband had a child with his mistress and her pregnant teen daughter got married. It ran for six seasons, with the first five airing on The WB and the final season airing on the newly rebranded The CW. The Reba cast also included Christopher Rich,...

Star Trek: Voyagers Infamous Delaney Sisters Explained
Image
Star Trek: Voyager's Delaney sisters (Alissa and Heidi Kramer) became an infamous part of the series despite only appearing in one episode. Voyager's cast of characters included a diverse group, from Star Trek's first female Captain, Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) to the first Vulcan in a show since Star Trek: The Original Series as well as the first Vulcan character of color, Tuvok (Tim Russ). However, Voyager's casting diversity also extended to the series' recurring characters.

Like many Star Trek shows from the 1990s era, Voyager included a great group of recurring guest stars that filled out the world of the show and added more complexity to its cast. The most notable members of this group were characters like Naomi (Scarlett Pomers) and Samantha Wildman (Nacy Hower), but other characters like Vorik (Alexander Enberg) or Icheb (Manu Intiraymi) added some interesting storylines to later seasons. Besides these characters,...

Happy’s Place Originally Reba Reboot?

The Reba cast is still very close and they are not shy about how they created a family in the six seasons they were on air. In 2023, the cast got together to cheer on Reba McEntire when she performed at the Hollywood Bowl. Those who celebrated the “single mom who worked two jobs” were Steve Howey, Melissa Peterman, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and Christopher Rich.

How Old Is Star Trek: Voyagers Naomi Wildman In Picard Season 3?
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, episode 1, "Dos Cerritos"Star Trek: Voyager's Naomi Wildman's (Scarlett Pomers) age in Star Trek: Picard season 3 is not completely clear. Naomi Wildman was born on the USS Voyager in Star Trek: Voyager season 2, episode 21, "Deadlock", to xenobiologist Ensign Samantha Wildman (Nancy Hower). Ensign Wildman was already pregnant before the USS Voyager left the Alpha Quadrant, with the nearly two-year gestational period explained by Naomi's father being Ktarian. After her birth, Naomi rapidly grew out of infancy, so Star Trek: Voyager could skip over having a toddler on board, and she could be Voyager's relatable child character.

The half-Ktarian genetics that made Naomi's birth and upbringing on Star Trek: Voyager more convenient from a storytelling perspective also made it tricky to determine exactly how old she is. Naomi doesn't necessarily look or act like her chronological age in...

Star Trek: Lower Decks reveals Naomi Wildman's future
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers from Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, episode 1, "Dos Cerritos."

The last time we saw Naomi Wildman, who was portrayed by Scarlett Pomers on Star Trek: Voyager, she was still a child who Neelix [Ethan Phillips] was tucking into bed at night. As the only child to be born and raised on Voyager [Tom Paris' and B'Elanna Torres' daughter was born on the ship before Voyager returned to Earth], she garnered a lot of attention as no one had anticipated Voyager being away from home long enough for children to be born aboard. But Ensign Samantha Wilder [Nancy Hower] was already pregnant when Voyager was lost in the Delta Quadrant, and Naomi Wildman became a part of the Voyager family with Pomers appearing in ninteen episodes during the series' seven year run.

Since Voyager ended, Naomi hasn't really even been mentioned since then, and no one knew what her future held or what became of her after the starship made it back to Earth.

Star Trek Reveals What Happened To Voyagers Naomi Wildman
Image
Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, episode 1, "Dos Cerritos"

Star Trek reveals what happened to Star Trek: Voyager's Naomi Wildman (Scarlett Pomers) after the USS Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant. Naomi Wildman was Ensign Samantha Wildman's (Nancy Hower) half-Ktarian daughter, born in Star Trek: Voyager season 2, episode 21, "Deadlock". Instead of spending years as a toddler, Naomi quickly grew into a child who could actively interact with the USS Voyager's crew, and also became a character that kids watching Star Trek: Voyager could relate to, like Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) in Star Trek: The Next Generation or Jake Sisko (Cirroc Lofton) in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

With new Star Trek shows taking place in the late 24th century, audiences have been able to learn what happened to most of the USS Voyager crew after getting back home. Most notably, Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew...

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 Offers An Update On A Voyager Character We've Been Wondering About
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

In the "Star Trek: Lower Decks" episode "Dos Cerritos," the premiere of the show's fifth and final season, Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) was thrilled to receive the latest issue of Fleet Magazine on his Padd. Boimler is excited because this was the periodical's annual 30-Under-30 issue, meant to highlight the career accomplishments of Starfleet's younger officers. In the show's previous episode, Boimler briefly took command of the U.S.S. Cerritos, a rare privilege for junior-grade lieutenants, and his actions warranted a write-up. Recall that there is no money in Starfleet, leaving prestige as the only currency. Boimler thinks he's going to be rich.

But as Boimler thumbs through the magazine, he doesn't see himself. It seems that his interview was cut. He is doomed to remain in obscurity despite his heroism, always earmarked to lose. He complains that other,...

A Great Star Trek: Voyager War Story Was Shot Down By Rick Berman
Image
Despite its great premise, Rick Berman shot down the original idea for the Star Trek: Voyager season 5 episode "Once Upon a Time," forcing the creative team to come up with something new. Voyager season 5 had a high percentage of impressive episodes, including several that are consistently ranked as some of Voyager's best episodes. Although it rarely gets as much love as some others, "Once Upon a Time" was important to season 5, notable for being the first big appearance of Naomi Wildman (Scarlett Pomers) as Voyager's youngest recurring character.

The premise of "Once Upon a Time" followed Naomi and her experiences in a holodeck program called "The Adventures of Flotter," a program designed to teach children natural science and deductive reasoning. Other members of Voyager's cast of characters also featured prominently, including Neelix (Ethan Phillips), who attempted to distract Naomi to conceal the fact that her mother was missing after an away mission accident.

Star Trek: Voyager Sneakily Revealed 1 Important Thing About Holodecks
Image
Star Trek: Voyager season 5 inadvertently revealed a major thing about holodeck history in one specific episode. Although an early version of a holodeck was seen as far back as Star Trek: The Animated Series in the 1970s, the first official holodeck wasn't introduced until Star Trek: The Next Generation's pilot episode, "Encounter at Farpoint." Once the holodeck was created, however, it quickly became a staple piece of technology in the Star Trek timeline, with similar holographic technology even being retconned into shows set before Star Trek: The Original Series in the franchise's modern era.

Holodeck-centric episodes were common during Star Trek's 1990s-era series, including Star Trek: Voyager. One such episode in Voyager season 5 was the episode "Once Upon a Time," which featured a children's holodeck program called "The Adventures of Flotter." Voyager's resident kid character, Naomi Wildman (Scarlett Pomers) was shown playing the program throughout the episode, but...

A Single Star Trek: Voyager Scene Accidentally Started An Entire Seven Of Nine Storyline
Image
One of Seven of Nine's (Jeri Ryan) best relationships on Star Trek: Voyager would never have happened if it weren't for a season 5 episode. Despite joining Voyager's cast of characters halfway through the series' run, Seven of Nine quickly rose to become extremely popular. Thanks to Ryan's acting skills and the character's complicated, emotional journey from Borg drone back to humanity, Seven established herself as one of Voyager's most recognizable characters and went on to become hugely important to the Star Trek timeline as a whole after Voyager ended.

As she started to regain her humanity, one of the most enjoyable aspects of Seven's character was watching her navigate her relationships with the rest of the crew. Seven's mentorship with Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and the Doctor (Robert Picardo) or her rivalry turned grudging respect for B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson) added a lot to her story. However, Seven's best and...

Scarlett Pomers: What Happened To Kyra From Reba (& Where The Actress Is Now)
Image
Scarlett Pomers played a pivotal role in the sitcom Reba (2001-2007) as Kyra Hart, so her absence from the sitcom's fifth season was notable, causing fans to wonder what happened. The six-season show was one of its kind, a multi-cam sitcom filmed in front of a large studio audience. At its anchor was country superstar Reba McEntire as Reba Hart, a single mom of three kids whose husband leaves her for his dental hygenist.

Many Star Trek fans recognize Pomers as the young Naomi Wildman in Star Trek: Voyager, and the child actress was right at home when she joined the cast of Reba as a teenager in the role of Kyra. Reba's middle child, Kyra was known for her sharp wit, sarcastic humor, and rebellious nature. Kyras character often challenged her mother and older sister, bringing an edge to the shows family dynamics. As one of the key characters,...

Im So Sad Star Trek: Voyager Didnt Do A Planned Borg Zombie Episode
Image
Star Trek: Voyager's "Mortal Coil" had an original horror premise featuring a Borg zombie Samantha Wildman. Voyager was ultimately forced to scrap the horror idea due to it being too gruesome for Star Trek. While still a great Neelix episode, "Mortal Coil" missed a chance for a much more unique premise.

I've always liked Star Trek: Voyager's season 4 episode "Mortal Coil," but now I'm disappointed that its original premise was scrapped. "Mortal Coil" was the 12th episode of Voyager season 4, and featured a poignant storyline centered on Neelix (Ethan Phillips) struggling with his spirituality and questions of the afterlife after he was killed and subsequently revived in a shuttle accident. The episode is a tour-de-force for Neelix, and one of his best in the series, but one my favorite parts has always been Neelix's interactions with recurring character Samantha Wildman (Nacy Hower) and her daughter, Naomi Wildman (Scarlett Pomers...

Star Trek: Picard Almost Brought Back the Best Voyager Characters
Image
Life has never been better for Star Trek: Voyager fans. Prodigy functions as a sequel to the show, with return performances by Kate Mulgrew, Robert Beltran, and Robert Picardo; Tim Russ’ Tuvok and Robert Duncan McNeil’s Tom Paris have dropped by Picard and Lower Decks; and Seven of Nine ended Picard as the Captain of the Enterprise-g.

But the final season of Picard almost brought back even more Voyager characters to the 25th century. During a Zoom chat attended by Trek Movie earlier this year, Picard season three showrunner Terry Matalas revealed that he originally planned to bring back two other beloved members of the Voyager crew: Harry Kim and Naomi Wildman.

The latter would have appeared as part of a Star Trek version of “Avengers: Endgame” that Matalas envisioned. “Harry Kim appeared as the captain of the Voyager-b in the first draft of Frontier Day,” Matalas explained, but...

Were Still Waiting For 6 Star Trek: Voyager Comebacks
Image
Warning: Contains minor Spoilers for Star Trek: Prodigy season 2!

Star Trek: Prodigy, Picard, and Lower Decks have all brought back beloved Voyager characters, but some big names are still missing. Roxann Dawson hasn't returned as B'Elanna Torres, due to her focusing on her career as a director. Star Trek: Picard abandoned plans to bring back Voyager's Naomi Wildman and Harry Kim, but they could still appear elsewhere.

Despite multiple characters returning for Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Prodigy, there are still several Star Trek: Voyager stars who haven't made a comeback. On Netflix, Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 has reunited Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran) and the Doctor (Robert Picardo) for further adventures on the USS Voyager-a. An Emotional Scene In Star Trek: Voyager Had Scarlett Pomers Fighting Back Tears
Image
In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Once Upon a Time", the Delta Flyer — manned by Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill), Tuvok (Tim Russ), and Ensign Wildman (Nancy Hower) — crash lands on a remote, uninhabited planet and gets buried under three kilometers of rock. Wildman is grievously injured, and it's only a matter of time before she succumbs to her injuries, lest she return to sickbay back on board the Voyager. However, thanks to an ion storm, the Voyager cannot immediately locate the Flyer. The clock is ticking.

On board the Voyager, no one seems equipped to tell Wildman's young daughter Naomi (Scarlett Pomers) about the danger her mother is in. Reba's Hart Family Tree Explained
Image
The Hart family tree on Reba is complicated by divorces, marriages, and surprise pregnancies, creating endless entertainment for viewers. Reba McEntire shines as the resilient matriarch, navigating through the chaos of her dysfunctional family and solving problems along the way. Reba, Brock, Cheyenne, Van, and the rest of the Hart family formed the main cast of the beloved sitcom that still resonates with audiences today.

Between all the divorces, marriages, and births packed into the first season alone, it can be difficult to keep track of all the branches of the Hart family tree in Reba. Created by Allison M. Gibson, Reba follows country music star Reba McEntire as the titular "single mom who works too hard," as she sings in the iconic Reba theme song, "I'm a Survivor." Star Trek: Voyagers Vulcan Vorik & Alexander Enbergs Tng Connection Explained
Image
Aside from Tuvok, Star Trek: Voyager featured another Vulcan character in the form of Ensign Vorik. Vorik's introduction added depth to Voyager's crew and impacted major storylines like Tom and B'Elanna's relationship. Vorik's character was influenced by his predecessor Taurik from Star Trek: Tng's "Lower Decks," also played by Alexander Enberg.

Star Trek: Voyager's Vulcan Ensign Vorik (Alexander Enberg) became a recurring character in season 3 and had a surprising connection to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Voyager's cast of characters was one of the most diverse in the franchise at the time of its airing in 1995, and also included the first main character Vulcan since Star Trek: The Original Series in the form of Lieutenant Commander Tuvok (Tim Russ). However, Tuvok was not the only Vulcan introduced as a member of Voyager's crew.

Star Trek: Voyager Season 2's Big Pregnancy Plot Hole Explained
Image
Samantha Wildman's pregnancy announcement in season 2 of Star Trek: Voyager created a plot hole due to scheduling issues. The unclear timeline of Voyager made it difficult to determine the length of Wildman's pregnancy. The show eventually explained the plot hole in season 6 by introducing the concept of a longer gestation period for half-Ktarian babies.

Star Trek: Voyager had a big pregnancy plot hole in season 2.
