- José Manuel Poncelis was born in 1954 in Mexico. He was an actor, known for Man on Fire (2004), I Dream in Another Language (2017) and Herod's Law (1999). He died on August 31, 2024 in Mexico.
- He was nominated for an Ariel Award for his work in the controversial "La ley de Herodes," in which he played "Filemón," a man sacrificed by the main character in order to remain in power.
- He studied Visual Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( UNAM).
- It was his participation in 2017 in the feature film " Sueño en otro idioma ", directed by Ernesto Contreras, with which he won the Mayahuel Award for best actor at the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
- Later, he dedicated himself to teaching at different universities, but also worked as an actor in Mexican series and films .
