Ian McShane Cast in Game of Thrones Season 6

After recently getting the word that Game of Thrones will be around a little longer than most of us may have expected, we get another Thrones off-season announcement, some pretty big casting word, in the form of Ian McShane returning to HBO to play an as of yet unrevealed roll in Game of Thrones season 6.

EW broke the word the former Deadwood star would be heading to Westeros in what’s a pretty high profile casting choice for HBO and Thrones.

I talked about my lack of excitement of the possibility of getting the House Greyjoy (Theon’s family) story arcs next season that have occurred in the existing George R R. Martin novels already, which would mean we aren’t as quite caught up to the book series...

The second best of the Pirates films, On Stranger Tides, has finally hit Blu-ray and while the movie didn’t quite hit the same strides (or tides) of the original Curse of the Black Pearl movie, it certainly does not journey into the sequel misfire that was Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End. What some claim as a slower, duller, extraneous film I thought the movie really went back to the original zest of the series and the addition of Penelope Cruz as a worthy romantic adversary to Depp was most welcomed. The biggest issue of the movie was that writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot trying to put the egnimatic charm of the Pirates concept within a serious Pirate adventure story known as On Stranger Tides, written by Tim Powers. Disney's blockbuster 3D adventure, "Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", with it's great 'mermaid' sequences, backed by the moody orchestrations of composer Hans Zimmer, has now grossed the $1 billion mark in 6 weeks (!) since its release May 20, 2011.

The fourth installment in the "Pirates of the Caribbean series", stars Johnny Depp as 'Captain Jack Sparrow', Penélope Cruz as 'Angelica', Geoffrey Rush as 'Captain Hector Barbossa' and Ian McShane as 'Blackbeard'.

"On Stranger Tides" is directed by Rob Marshall from a screenplay by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio.

The plot of the film draws 'inspiration' from the novel "On Stranger Tides", by author Tim Powers :

Arcana Pictures has optioned worldwide TV/film rights to author Tim Powers' award-winning novel "Last Call".

Powers' novel "On Stranger Tides" was previously adapted by Disney, for the current installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides".

"...'Last Call' is set in the gritty paranormal underbelly of 'Sin City', weaving tales of ancient magic with violence-inducing tarot card poker games called 'Assumption'. In this game, gamblers unknowingly find themselves wagering for their bodies, souls and immortality..."

In "Last Call," Powers uses gangster 'Bugsy Siegel to create a riveting alternative history for how Las Vegas was born, complete with ghosts and mobsters.
