Kino Lorber’s Kino Cult line brings five nature run amok horror films to Blu-ray in August
Image
The distribution company Kino Lorber recently launched an interesting Blu-ray line called Kino Cult, and so far they have released the 1985 sci-fi Western Alien Outlaw, the Bettie Page double feature Teaserama and Varietease, the 1985 horror film The Dark Power, the 1974 drama Drifter, the 1974 Jess Franco horror film Lorna the Exorcist, the 1973 Jess Franco crime thriller Sinner: The Secret Diary of a Nymphomaniac, and the 1985 Clive Barker adaptation Underworld (a.k.a. Transmutations). Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have learned that five more Kino Cult Blu-ray releases are set for August 20th, and there’s a theme to this batch: they’re all “nature run amok” horror movies! Most of them are movies I love to watch, too. Here’s the line-up: The Food of the Gods, Empire of the Ants, Frogs, Squirm, and Kingdom of the Spiders. Each one is available for pre-order on Amazon, and each of these...

‘What next, Mr Bean?’ Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters asked by Russia to speak to Un security council
Image
Roger Walters has reportedly been asked by Russia to speak to the Un Security Council.

Russia wants the Pink Floyd co-founder to appear on Wednesday (8 February) at the meeting to discuss Ukrainian weapon delivery, Reuters reports.

Speaking on the request, an anonymous Un Security diplomat said: "Russian diplomacy used to be serious. What next? Mr Bean?"

Waters has previously written open letters to both the Russian and Ukrainian governments.

The musician was criticised for one he wrote to the Ukrainian first lady, Olena Zelenska, in which he argued against the west supplying weapons to Ukraine.

The rock musician has previously claimed that he is on a Ukrainian “kill list” as a result of his controversial comments about the war.

“Don’t forget, I’m on a kill list that is supported by the Ukrainian government,” Waters said in an interview with Rolling Stone in October.

“I’m on the f***ing list,...

Marvel has been expanding in terms of the diverse characters they’re presenting on-screen, including the recent introduction of She-Hulk on Disney+.

The series focuses on Jennifer Walters, an attorney who also has the alter-ego of She-Hulk, a large, powerful, and superhuman capable of impressive feats and heroics. The muscular hero stands 6-foot-7 and is green, just like her famous cousin, the Incredible Hulk.

Actress Tatiana Maslany stars as Walters, aka She-Hulk, and recently spoke about how the superhero she plays for the Disney+ series presents a unique body type compared to other superheroes in the MCU.

“I think that there’s a cultural obsession with the certain physique that goes along with these movies sometimes,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I certainly fell prey to that idea,...

‘The Umbrella Academy’ season 3 reviews: Netflix series handles Elliot Page’s transition with ‘grace’
Image
“The Umbrella Academy” returned on June 22 with its third season almost two years after the release of season two. But the superhuman characters on this show are accustomed to jumping through time. Do critics think the new episodes were worth the wait?

SEEGeorge R.R. Martin confirms Jon Snow sequel show, and its unexpected source

As of this writing, season three of the Netflix series has a MetaCritic score of 72 based on nine reviews, of which six are classified as positive and the other three as mixed. None of the reviews are deemed outright negative. Compare that to season one, which scored 61 based on 22 reviews, and season two, which scored 67 based on 12 reviews. That may suggest stronger critical appeal with each passing season, or it could be attrition, with critics less favorable to the show no longer covering it.

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the third season rates 88 fresh based on...
