Robert was born in New York, New York to Robert Roger and May Colette Primrose on June 16, 1965. He grew up in Garden City, Long Island, along with older sisters, Tracey and Tricia. Robert began his career in sound on the soap opera, The Edge of Night (1956), as an audio assist. Following its cancellation, Robert worked on another soap opera, Search for Tomorrow (1951), as a music mixer, for which he won his first Emmy award. Robert has continued to work on numerous projects over the years, many of which have been canceled, but none due to poor sound quality of the production. After two seasons on Spin City (1996) as a boom operator, Robert returned to daytime television as a boom operator/mixer for the long-running soap opera, Guiding Light (1952). After receiving his second Emmy award for excellence in sound, Robert began work as a boom operator for Saturday Night Live (1975). On April 23, 2005, Robert married corporate lawyer Linda D. Kelly at an intimate ceremony on the beach in St. Thomas, USVI. Robert is now in his eighth season with Saturday Night Live (1975) and is associated with EUE Screen Gems Studios in New York, N.Y.
