The debut feature from writer-director Francis Galluppi bowed at Austin’s Fantastic Fest before heading to Sitges. XYZ Films and UTA are co-representing North American sales. The acquisition was negotiated by Brennan Lane on behalf of Well Go USA and by John McGrath (UTA) and Pip Ngo (XYZ) on behalf of the filmmakers.

With the premiere of its final episode, FX’s Reservation Dogs has officially been sent off that good way. The season 3 finale, titled “Dig,” is filled with indelible moments that neatly wrap up three superb seasons and prepare the titular Rez Dogs for a glorious future to come.

Amid all that excitement, however, is one little in-joke that the less attentive viewer may have missed. As the town of Okern, Oklahoma gathers in the local church to pay their respects to departed Old Man Fixico (Richard Ray Whitman), several well-wishers assemble around the medicine man’s casket. One of those mourners is local constable/lighthorseman Big (Zahn McClarnon).

The end result is one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the 2020s so far, placing itself into multiple "best TV show" lists among its numerous award nominations and wins. It's certainly been a smashing success for series co-creator Sterlin Harjo, whose prior works tackle similar subjects, albeit in different ways. It’s a bold claim in a culture that often sees fans ripping finales and their writers apart. Since its premiere in 2021, “Reservation Dogs” has always been about the liminal space between childhood and adulthood. The series started with Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai) forgoing his friends’ plan to ditch the reservation after his persistent Spirit (Dallas Goldtooth) persuaded him to improve his home rather than abandon it. Deep Woods, the first feature from writer/director Steve Laughlin, begins in quite a different location, the opulent chrome and glass offices of the architectural firm owned by Ty Ellsworth. Ty has, seemingly out of the blue, got in touch with his college buddy Nick and suggested a hunting trip. Ty wants to “experience nature before it’s paved over” and since Nick is both Native American and a game warden, who better to go with?

For the film’s first half hour, Laughlin gives us a contrast between the world Ty knows and the rural, backwoods area Nick lives in. A tribal dance, talk of wendigos, a run-in with some loggers at a bar and of course, warnings from Sheriff Hadden to stay on the trails once they’re in the woods.

As a vampire without American identification, you could say Francis (Noah Segan) is an illegal immigrant regardless of the fact he’s lived in the country longer than anyone else currently alive with a legitimate birth certificate. Why he chooses to drive through red states in his vintage Barracuda while confusing Alex Jones-loving, conspiracy-theorizing yokels with Yiddish is therefore a mystery. This is the solitary bachelor life he’s chosen, though. And perhaps that part of the country is simply better suited for a nomadic lifestyle demanding a sense of secrecy considering the trail of bodies Francis inevitably leaves in his wake (animal meat makes him bloated). There’s also no shortage of racist criminals no one will miss for him to kill. Happiness is an unnecessary luxury. Survival is paramount.

This marks the feature directorial debut of actor Noah Segan, best known as "Kid Blue", appearing quite often in Rian Johnson films and plenty others. A vampire's loner lifestyle is thrown into disarray when a teenager shows up claiming to be his daughter, and she's got the fangs to prove it – on a road trip across America's blacktops, they decide how to sink their teeth into family life. The film is made by Rob Grabow, who sold his condo and put everything into making this. He spent years in Alaska, working around and meeting people, including a dogsled musher who was having a difficult journey with alcoholism and addiction, who credited his sobriety in large part to one of his dogs; a high-spirited Alaskan husky. FX has officially confirmed its critically acclaimed half-hour comedy Reservation Dogs has been renewed for season three. The renewal announcement arrives just days ahead of the premiere of season two’s finale.

The award-winning – and groundbreaking – series was created by executive producers Sterlin Harjo (Love and Fury) and Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows).

“Reservation Dogs continues its remarkable run with critics, fans, and awards all recognizing the singular brilliance of the series created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi,” said Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX. “FX is proud to join with our partners at Hulu to order a third season featuring the amazing cast and all of the artists who deliver one of the most original, engaging, and funny shows on television.”

The best thing about FX’s Reservation Dogs is that depending on the episode, any of the show’s four stars — Devery Jacobs, D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Lane Factor, Paulina Alexis — could be front and center, as each of the young, previously unknown actors has already proven their ability to anchor installments with creators Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi’s distinctive blend of quirky humor and earnest heart.

The worst thing about FX’s Reservation Dogs, at least when approaching the show through an awards-obsessed prism, is that it’s a pure ensemble, one uninterested in inviting easy “lead”/”supporting” classifications and one without a single breakout performance; there are four.

Reservation Dogs takes on the legend of Tall Man in its latest episode. Following a few subtle references to the Bigfoot-like creature throughout the series, we get the first look at Tall Man in a flash-forward scene. At the beginning of the episode, which is set a year prior, Willie Jack's (Paulina Alexis) father, Leon (Jon Proudstar), comes face to face with the creature as he puts out deer feed. Similar to the Bigfoot legend, the creature is shown to be hairy and tall with bright red eyes that stare at Leon.

Reservation Dogs has made an excellent first impression at FX on Hulu, which has renewed the comedy series just five episodes into its freshman run, TVLine has learned.

Season 2 is expected to launch in 2022, while the first season continues with Episode 6 on Monday, Sept. 6. In that installment, appropriately titled “Hunting,” Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) and Leon (Jon Proudstar) go… hunting.

Wastelander is a sci-fi thriller and action horror feature, from director Angelo Lopes. To be released by Indican Pictures, Wastelander takes place in a violent universe. Here, survivors attempt to outrun The Scourge, a group of cybernetic bandits. The film centrally stars: Brendan Guy Murphy, Jon Proudstar and Carol Cardenas. There aren’t many shows that even have the theoretical possibility of getting me more interested in them than The Gifted. The Marvel Universe on television has mostly worked out for me, but more importantly, I want to know what Matt Nix does with the show, and I’m a pretty big fan of Amy Acker.

I’m not exactly sure how you keep an “on the run” story going forever, but it should be worth finding out where this can twist around its own gimmick. Previous looks at the show have already set things up pretty well, and if nothing else it looks like this is going to be a fun exploration of characters that goes a bit darker, much like the Netflix series we’ve seen so far.

There's a brand new X-Men series coming - but who are The Gifted, exactly?

The Gifted is Fox's second adaptation bringing the X-Men universe to live action TV. Legion was very well made – visually terrific, clever and stylish, but it wasn’t too X-Men-centric. The Gifted? Though doubtlessly a more conventional take on Marvel's merry mutants, The Gifted could be the X-Men show fans have been waiting patiently for since at least the mid-90s.
