B-Movies get a lot of criticism, and most of the time, it's well-deserved. While their measly budgets and low quality are sometimes quite charming, these movies often flop because they fail to stick to a substantial plot. Yet, these movies also get a lot of traction from die-hard film buffs.

While Hollywood continues to follow the same tropes and reuse the same set of actors time and time again, B Movies offers fans something very different. As such, B-Movies have a collection of loyal fans, making them successful in their own right. Troppo Cast & Character Guide: Who Plays Who In The Australian Crime Drama
Image
The Australian crime drama, Troppo, features an ensemble cast of talented and recognizable Australian actors, all led by American movie star, Thomas Jane. Together, the pair solve crimes around Crimson Lake, often bumping up against the police stationed there.

Like many shows set in Australia, Troppo puts the continent's unique location to good use. "Troppo" is Australian slang for, "going troppo", meaning "going mad" due to the unrelenting heat in Australia (via ABC) and that term comes into play often in Troppo, with characters often behaving angrily, irritably, and out of character. Season 2 premiered on July 5, 2024, and finished on August 24, 2024. This second...

‘The Survivor’ Blu-ray Review (Severin)
Stars: Robert Powell, Jenny Agutter, Joseph Cotten, Angela Punch McGregor, Peter Sumner, Lorna Lesley, Ralph Cotterill, Adrian Wright, Tyler Coppin | Written by David Ambrose | Directed by David Hemmings

When I was younger I was a big James Herbert fan, so watching The Survivor was something I just had to do. Confusing and slow, I’ll admit I was not ready for what I found with the film, but now with its new release on Blu-ray, is it about time to give the film another chance?

When a 747 crash lands in a Sydney suburb the only other survivor is David Keller (Robert Powell). Unable to remember what happened to make the plane crash, he starts his own investigation into what happened. With the help of local psychic Hobbs (Jenny Agutter) he discovers not only why the plane crashed, but also why some of the dead refuse to be at peace.

Drive-In Dust Offs: The Island (1980)
Michael Caine had an interesting run of genre flicks starting in the late ‘70s. The Swarm (1978) was laughed off the screen, Dressed to Kill (1980) was enjoyed by audiences and critics alike, and The Hand (1981) dropped his batting average once again. Nestled in between all those was The Island (1980), a killer pirate movie from the author of Jaws and directed by the man behind The Bad News Bears. What could go wrong? Well, everything, according to most folk. It’s an odd one to be sure, but the wild tonal shifts that prevent the ship from staying on a clear course make it a fascinating treasure that gets better with each viewing.

Released in June by Universal, The Island had a surefire pedigree for success; the Jaws juggernaut of producers Zanuck and Brown and author Peter Benchley (here, adapting his own novel) promised a good time to be had by all.
