Jim Jefferies Says His Short-Lived FX Sitcom ‘Legit’ Is Still His Favorite Thing He’s Ever Done
Image
Over the past decade, Australian-American comedian Jim Jefferies has climbed the heights of stand-up comedy. Yet, despite all his comedic success, one past project still feels unfinished to him: his short-lived FX sitcom Legit. The semi-autobiographical series starred Jefferies as a fictionalized version of himself who lives with his two best friends, Steve Nugent and Steve’s brother Billy, who has a severe case of muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair. In its premiere episode, Jim and Steve take Billy to a brothel — a real-life event that made its way into Jefferies’ stand-up and then into Legit (which was the case for much of the show’s stories).

While Legit never found a big audience, the show was beloved by critics, who praised it as being both darkly funny and surprisingly tender. The darkly funny part of that equation was familiar to anyone who knew Jefferies’ raunchy stand-up act, but...

Critically Panned Disaster Film Finds Redemption on Netflix 22 Years After Flopping in Theaters
Image
Sci-fi disaster films have always been an attraction, although not all of them were a success. The star-studded film The Core was an example of a film that was not as successful as it hoped to be.

The film was released in 2003 and didn't fulfill its mission. The Core had a huge budget, but was critically panned, and didn't end up covering its costs. According to Tudum, The Core has become a hit on Netflix, finding a new chance at redemption on streaming, 22 years after its release.

The Core debuted on Netflix very recently and quickly became a hit between March 31 and April 6. In its first week, the film debuted in sixth place globally and attracted 4.5 million views and 10.1 million hours viewed. The movie is not available on Netflix U.S., but it's available on Paramount+. Following its debut, The Core entered the Top 10 in 58 countries, including Central and South America,...

Wtf Happened to Road Trip – Does the Todd Phillips-directed teen sex comedy still have gas?
Image
Every once in a while, a movie makes so much money that it totally shakes up the film industry. This instance is especially true when a genre many considered dead and buried comes along and makes some serious cash. This rarity happened in a big way back in 1999 when American Pie, a movie that cost $11 million, made $235 million worldwide. Think about it – the biggest star in the film was Eugene Levy. More than that – it was a teen sex comedy. That genre played out in the early eighties when Porky’s was such a big hit that every studio decided to make a sex comedy, and pretty much all of them tanked – especially the multiple Porky‘s sequels. Teen sex comedies were replaced by John Hughes’s brand of more thoughtful teen comedies, only for that genre to fall off as well. A year before, Sony made a John Hughes-style teen comedy,...

Eurotrip: Michelle Trachtenberg was great in this fun 2000s comedy
Image
Despite having starred in many of the biggest movies of the last thirty years, including Good Will Hunting, Saving Private Ryan, the Jason Bourne films, The Martian and many more, Matt Damon once said that the movie fans most often quote to him is Eurotrip, with fans frequently approaching him, singing “Scotty Doesn’t Know.” A notable flop when it came out in 2004, thanks to DVD and streaming, Eurotrip went on to become a cult classic, and one that’s suddenly become a lot more bittersweet due to the tragic passing of one of its stars, Michelle Trachtenberg, who died recently at only thirty-nine years old. While mostly known for Harriet the Spy, and for her roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, many, us here at JoBlo included, are fond of her charming performance in this underrated flick, which might have been considered just another comedy back in 2004, but in our current,...

"Redheads Unite": The ‘Supernatural’ Cast All Agree on Who They’d Like To Have Seen More Of
Image
Supernatural was an iconic show not just because of its leading circle of talent (although we love them too), but also because of the recurring guest stars who would pop in and out along the way. While Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins), and other plot-driving characters are considered the faces of the series, their supporting pals packed just as much of a punch. Over the weekend during the Supernatural panel at MegaCon Orlando, at which Collider’s Maggie Lovitt was in attendance, a lineup that included Padalecki, Jim Beaver, Samantha Smith, Alexander Calvert, DJ Qualls, Mark Sheppard, and Ruth Connell chatted about who they wish they could have spent some more on-screen time with. And, let’s just say, the first response was incredibly popular.

“They Look F***ing Stupid”: Jared Padalecki Reveals His Least Favorite Prop and Gives His Co-Star Praise For Always Wearing Them
Image
On a show like Supernatural, the title essentially implies that most of the cast will be pretty heavily costumed. Luckily, for its leading stars, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, the everyday attire for their characters, Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively, was a lot of blue jeans and long-sleeved shirts with jackets. But, when an episode involved them taking a walk on the wild side and transforming into something else, they got a taste of their co-workers’ medicine — specifically that of DJ Qualls, who appeared in the series as a werewolf named Garth.

'There Were a Lot of Sacrifices': 20 Years Later, Jared Padalecki Highlights How Supernatural Changed His Life
Image
Jared Padalecki joined the cast of Supernatural when he was 23 years old. The fantasy horror series ran for 15 seasons, and, by the end of the show, Padalecki was 38.

Both Padalecki and Ackles, who played Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively, were young when the show started. The show's loyal fandom kept it on the air for so long, while the stars grew up, got married, and started their own families. During the Megacon Orlando, Jared Padalecki highlighted the importance and sacrifices he's made for Supernatural, per Cbr, who was at the convention.

Padalecki: “I think 20 years ago today, we were shooting the pilot. There were a lot of sacrifices. There’s been a lot of sh*t. But in hindsight, I’m so grateful to the [fans] because I was public with what I was going through and you were all supportive.‗ Cbr (@Cbr) February 9, 2025

Aaron Eckhart’s Underrated Disaster Film With 39% On Rotten Tomatoes Beat James Cameron’s Avatar To An Old Science Concept
Image
Although The Core is largely forgotten now, this 2003 Aaron Eckhart vehicle beat James Cameron’s iconic 2009 blockbuster Avatar to one major sci-fi staple by six years. A lot of earlier movies inspired elements of the Avatar movies. South Park famously mocked the franchise as little more than a mashup of Dances With Wolves and The Smurfs, but everything from The Last of the Mohicans to Jurassic Park to Star Wars had a role to play in constructing director James Cameron’s immersive fictional world. Avatar: The Way of Water’s ending even borrows from Cameron’s own hit Titanic.

Not Misha Collins’ Castiel, Supernatural Fans Finally Acknowledge the Show’s Most Underappreciated Character Played by Openly Gay Actor
Image
Supernatural ran for fifteen seasons with the Winchester brothers encountering various characters during their monster-hunting escapades. While Misha Collins’ Castiel became a fan-favorite, he is still pretty underrated. However, one other recurring character is similarly if not more underrated and deserves more recognition.

Misha Collins’ Castiel is an underrated Supernatural character (Credit: Warner Bros).

However, the fanbase has often mistreated the character, but Garth is finally receiving the recognition he deserves after the show concluded its run on air. Here’s what fans are saying about DJ Qualls’ Garth in Supernatural.

5 thrilling shows like The Walking Dead
Image
In 2010, AMC Networks premiered The Walking Dead, an apocalyptic series that aired for 12 years across 11 seasons. Based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, the series became wildly popular, beyond what anyone could have imagined, and has inspired other series within the genre.

The Walking Dead has been praised for its earliest and final seasons, with mixed reviews for its seventh and eighth seasons. While it is set in an undead apocalypse, the stories revolve around the survivors and their experiences after the outbreak occurred. Many viewers note this is why the series became so popular.

Long-standing cast members for the series include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Review: Carved is a Hollow Halloween Decoration
Image
Justin Harding’s Carved, based on the filmmaker’s 2018 short of the same name, falls victim to typical short-turned-feature issues that Brandon Espy’s Mr. Crocket better sidesteps. It's a bite-sized idea in a king-sized wrapper. Hulu's latest "Huluween" treat is stale, dismissively tropey, and cannot sustain its elongated duration. Save for a smattering of body-hacking practical effects, Carved is an unenthusiastic holiday dud that’s not worth its momentary highlights of violent pumpkin-inflicted punishments.

In Cedar Creek Village, an off-the-highway community devastated by a chemical spill years ago, authority figures like Bill (DJ Qualls) and Kevin (Marc-Sully Saint-Fleur) are trying to move forward. UP24 News anchor Aj arrives to cover upcoming Halloween festivities but immediately starts digging into their radioactive past. Bill refuses to acknowledge the incident and diverts attention to Cedar Creek’s pumpkin carving contest. Locals like playwright Kira (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), actor Cody (Corey Fogelmanis...

Based on the short film of the same name by Justin Harding (who returned to direct the feature-length version), Carved takes the audience to Halloween day 1993, at Cedar Creek Pioneer Village, a living museum in Maine. A town resident found a strange pumpkin in a field and took it with him, with his colleague later taking it to enter a carving contest in the village. What no one would have imagined was the pumpkin coming to life.

Seeing the massacre of other pumpkins at the contest, the strange pumpkin began to kill not just his contestant but most of the others as everyone else ran to safety. The villages theater team Kira (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), her boyfriend Cody (Corey Fogelmanis), Maddie (Sasha Mason...

Carved Review | A Pumpkin Stabs Back in Demented Horror Comedy
Image
Hulus outlandish and super bloody horror comedy Carved may put a temporary hold on those pumpkin pie cravings. Yes, its because the kills are graphic in this Halloween-set romp, but it has more to do with the killer, which in this case, is a sentient mega pumpkin. (Just go with it.) When the first real kills begin to happen around the 20-minute mark, the film doesnt let up. As the groovy bloodbath ensues, heads are severed, scalped, and stabbed by this unlikely killer whose vine-like tentacles reach far and wide. It also allows the big badass pumpkin the ability to walk around. Basically, a pumpkin-led massacre like no other.

Directed by Justin Harding (The Haunted Museum), Carved is based on the short film of the same name, which Harding also wrote and directed for Hulus Huluween Film Fest shorts program. He teams up with screenwriter Cheryl Meyer for this feature,...

This Isn’t a Simpsons Trailer, and I’m Annoyed
Image
Something went viral on social media over the last week, and I kind of hate it.

The video is a faux trailer for a “live-action” movie adaptation of The Simpsons, featuring a succession of famous actors as the main Simpsons characters.

Amongst those at play are Adam Sandler as Homer Simpson, and Kristen Wiig as Marge. Jacob Tremblay “plays” Bart, McKenna Grace portrays Lisa, and Will Ferrell stands in for Ned Flanders.

Steve Buscemi plays C. Montgomery Burns, Neil Patrick Harris as Smithers, Ben Stiller as Moe, and John C. Reilly as Barney. Steve Carell is Principal Skinner, Zach Galifianakis is Chief Wiggum, and Kumail Nanjiani is Apu.

(Multiverse of AI Youtube/Screenshot)

I hate quite a few things about this.

For one, it’s not real, although many people on social media seem to believe otherwise. It uses AI technology (not very well), while leeching the likenesses of a...

Supernatural Fans Show Support for Jared Padalecki Amid Walker Cancelation
Image
A few days ago, The CW confirmed they would not renew Walker for a fifth season. The series, which stars Jared Padalecki in the lead role, has received support from fans during a Supernatural convention.

One thing that has stood out about Supernatural is the fans' support. The fantasy series couldn't have been on the air for 15 seasons without a strong fandom, and the fans, called the Supernatural Family, have supported the show and the actors throughout the series and even more after the show ended in 2020. Since then, Jared Padalecki has led Walker, the reboot of the western TV show Walker, Texas Ranger, which has been officially canceled after four seasons on air.

On the newest episode of his Loaded & Probably Loaded podcast, with Kelly Blackheart, Qualls reminisced about when he first got to know Olsson at a convention dedicated to the Supernatural fandom and how their relationship has bloomed into a forever romance. “But on that trip, I met Ty. At the convention, we didn’t know each other at all. We maybe said three words together at the Supernatural convention, and then we went to London for four or five days afterward,” Qualls remembered. “And then I was going to Turkey with a friend, and he is such a pure, awesome guy, he came up...

10 Most Underrated 2000s Teen Horror Movies You Need To Watch
Image
Cherry Falls cleverly subverts slasher tropes with a feminist twist and black humor. Jennifer's Body offers a fresh take on possession with dark satire and stellar performances. The Loved Ones delivers a dark and twisted narrative with unexpected secrets and a shocking ending.

The 2000s aren’t always remembered as a great era for teen horror movies, but the decade did provide viewers with truly underrated gems from the sub-genre. The teen horror movie is tricky to define. Most viewers agree that teen horror movies need teenage heroes, but this alone doesn’t guarantee that a movie qualifies for the moniker. Donnie Darko is a deeply creepy movie about a teenager experiencing all manner of supernatural events, but it hardly fits the teen horror mold. Similarly, 2004’s Mean Creek is a bleak story about teens and murder, but it is far from a horror movie.

1998’s Disturbing Behavior is too sci-fi to qualify,...

Mystery Poster Has the Internet Believing Rob Zombie's Freddy Krueger Series Coming This October

Fred fooled the internet with fake TV series poster, created by a satirical Facebook site. Despite a detailed synopsis and poster being released, the Fred series is not real. The internet's ability to blur the lines between real and fake is seen in full effect with the Fred poster.

A poster for a mystery TV series entitled Fred fooled the internet into believing that Rob Zombie has been working on a new TV series based on A Nightmare on Elm Street. However, as is often the case, things are not entirely as they seem, and the poster is not for a real series, but is a fake concept created by online content creator Yoda Bby Aby.

A Failed Pilot Set Meghan Markle And Patrick J. Adams Up For Success On Suits
Image
A "Suits" comeback wasn't on anyone's 2023 Bingo card, yet it was a huge year for the USA Network lawyer series. When the show dropped on Netflix last June, it became one of the streamers' biggest hits, reportedly accruing 3 billion minutes watched every week for much of the summer. The series' creator, Aaron Korsh, suspected its resurgence had something to do with the show's relatability and "inherent optimism," as he told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023. But the show's cast could have also had something to do with it: future ex-royal Meghan Markle starred in the legal procedural for its first seven seasons alongside leading men Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.

When "Suits" started, USA Network seemed to have already established a pretty standard formula for success: cast hot people, write fast-paced scripts, and keep storylines adventurous. It worked for shows like "Burn Notice" and "Psych," and given the longevity of "Suits,...

10 Great Supernatural Characters The Show Totally Wasted
Image
While Supernatural featured some great anti-heroes and villains over the show’s 15 seasons, the dark fantasy drama also wasted plenty of killer characters despite their evident potential. While Supernatural is deservedly beloved by the show’s large fan base, the series also earned its reputation for being an occasionally frustrating watch. The story of Dean and Sam Winchester was engaging and compelling, and many of the monsters (and allies) that they encountered were memorable. However, Supernatural had a terrible tendency to waste as many great villains and heroes as the show utilized.

There are countless Supernatural characters that the show never used to their full potential. One of Supernatural’s strongest monsters was wasted when the show rushed through their subplot, while some of Sam and Dean’s most memorable love interests were swiftly killed off to raise the dramatic stakes of a given season. This proved particularly unpopular since...
